The L'Er ships didnt bother acknowledging the cloaked ships and merely moved at speed towards the planet, many were obliterated by the explosions, but the asteroid impacted the shield, destroying it and spewing dust and darkness over the world. The remaining L'Er ships smashed onto the planet, land in and around cities, and the remains of the siege weapon fell and crashed into the planet, causing further rampant destruction.

The two hives were trying to direct the battle to the ground by deploying their forces onto the planet and harvesting whatever they could find. Feasting on the thoughts, sending the knowledge to all the hives. A decision to be made, and fast. The hour grows late and darkness falls, the reaping must be performed quickly, then the force to extract them sent even quicker.

The S'Ark capital ship broadcasted a message to the Normandy right before both vessels were consumed by both their own destruction and the Iscandarians attacks

"Superior? You misunderstand. Supremacism is... Lies for the weak, beacons for the deluded. Our feasts on your people show that there are those among you who have in the past eaten meat. Are they supremacists? No, they just follow nature, which inevitably leads to one conclusion. Beings eat others. Almost consumption is death for the consumed, we all kill a being or a plant to live. Nature is a cruel mistress, and she does not play favourites; Times and time again we have taken that into our own hands, because some things do play favourites.
So we are merely obeying the natural world, predator and prey, hunter and hunted. We do not care for 'superiority', because we know there are those stronger, always." The voice becomes even more solemn "And now human, the two of us will burn together. Because battles do not play favourites either. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. And now your dead, you cannot pass on your new knowledge. I would leave you with parting words for your species, but it would never leave this small corner of space, where your people throw their lives away for a species which is already falling. We taste it, we find it in their thoughts. Alas, poor Terran, but at least you will die with your mind composed."
The resulting explosion consumed both vessels, ending the conversation short

Yeah no.

Oh yeah yeah. Believe me, "We're coming, and we have a... reputation to create."
I never claimed the monarch was needed for protection. In the UK, "The Crown" also refers to state, for instance in a court case "John Doe" decides to sue the country which would be refered to as "The Crown"

As for what the House of Windsor has done (Originally under a different name, of course) It has voluntarily surrendered more and more powers when called for by the people, appointed governors for territories (colonial peroid, though this task was of course shared with parliament) appointed governor generals, intervened in diplomatic processes where need be, been a symbol for the British people, visited the soldiers on the lines (World Wars, paticularly King George in WW2) participated in the creation of the UN (George again, his contributions were small. admitedly) Voluntered to storm the beaches on Normandy (George again, stopped by Churchill, both wanted to go. Some say that George actually volunteered to invoke a "If your going I'm going" sort of thing to stop Churchill going.) Served in the military (a variety of members), participated in charity work, headed the Commonwealth of Nations, trimmed a couple of quid off my taxes, made the UK a fair bit of coin. And generally, they've been dutiful.

They've been good to the country, and the country has been good for them.

As for an inheritance tax, are you proposing to only tax the rich? If only! The rich wont even accept a tax on their houses for lords sake, good luck putting in an inheritance tax; Which doesnt really fix the problen at all and people will just circumvent...

And honestly? Luck plays a massive part in our lives. Some people will be lucky, some wont. That'll never change. There will always be the advantaged, there will always be those who were born undeserving of it but rich, born deserving but poor. The only way to fully change this is to jump in on the extreme ends, which brings its own problems.

Schnaps! I forgot aboot tis thread! I must say those of you who have posted in the last few hours have a odd combination of beliefsI cant help but imagine you in a top hat...Is that not what police are for? And what did the Monarch have to work for to gain her position? Nothing but climb out of te wombAs for my opinion on Patriotism, I believe there is nothing inherently wrong aboot it but is used by todays Media to cloud the minds of the people and turn us against our foreign comrades, which at that point is just pure JingoismNot very "Revolutionary" of you!

I would very much love to wear a top hate, but being working class is pretty much mutually exclusive. One day, perhaps, and when I get there I will most definitely buy a top hat in celebration.

As for the police, of course. Thats what they are there for, to ensure you do not break the social contract you sign by living in the country, and to help uphold the Crowns end of the agreement

As for the monarch, well, what have the children of the rich, or even the children of the first world, done but pop out of the right vagina? Lets not pretend that the children of the rich arent in a position of power and advantage by luck alone, and that the children of the first world arent at an advantage by luck alone. Luck, I suppose, played a part to be born with this specific genetic pattern, decided by factors outside out control, in a place outside our control, to people and circumstances outside our control. Some are more lucky than others.
As long as we are allowed to inherit the property of our parents, and share their successes, then it would be a double standard and hypocritical to stop the monarchy claiming whats left to them based on a "You did nothing but pop out the right vagina" argument.
Besides, the British Royal Fanily have done a lot for my country since they first took the throne centuries ago. The House of Windsor has won my respect for what they've done.
Indeed, the holy roman empires name could not be more misleading. It was closer to a ramshackle confederacy than an actual empire. Regardless, it still had an *ahem* "Elected" Emperor... And it is very notable, being one of the top powers in Europe at one point. Maybe the Roman Kings would be a better example, seeing as how they were elected by the senate at one time.

As for the ceremonial monarchy, I'm a Royalist who believes that the Queen is a symbol of unity and would rather my country stay a Constitutional Monarchy. To nick a saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Having a monarch whose pretty much just a ceremonial icon at this point is fine by me, in some ways I think its quite a nice thing to have and regardless of how many tourists mistakenly believe that she dictates my life I'd rather have a monarchy than a republic, if I'm honest, I view the monarchy as more of a source of pride. Figures say she makes more than she costs, so its not like she isnt paying her way... Plus "United Republic" just sounds a bit silly really...

Unfortunately yes...however a lot of the decisions were rolled for and so I have a feeling Duck may rage at me and then at my machine for hating him.

Indeed. Well, I may still get a win out of this. This provides me potential material for usage at a later date, and I'll merely request comensation for the damage from the duchy. His governments apparent values seem to be in my favour here.
Besides
, a trade and business based economy cant afford the potential fear of business owners for banning an entire nation of investors and to nationalise what they already brought over an officially stolen (and perfectly legal) contract and risk assessment with a dumb joke attached. I dont think the Anti-Corustarian party will get their wish, and I may be able to cover the costs. I might even be able to use it to get a new ally.

*whistles "Always look on the bright side of life"*
Hm, seems the cunning plot failed, A pity. Oh well, its not like I've lost anything.

I would like to apologise for my absence. I have been away with my college and have managed a few PM replies at most. However I am coming back today so I will either have the advance up tonight or tomorrow. Again sorry about the disappearance and I will not let this die. Please hang in there.

Alright
Oh and keyguy, I'm guessing no one important is on the Normandy? I'm thinking I might try to board it and steal a few more memories before the destruction of the S'Ark ship you literally tore in half kills both of us rofl

If there is someone important aboard, then it'll be a "No Endor massacre" type thing
