The vetting process would have been my reasoning, yes.
I'm not sure if Strix should go or not, myself. Recommendations/Suggestions?
The first six or seven who reply? or the first six or seven who initially posted?
you can wave him over if you like.
Not quite sure what to do since Strix is just off in some corner observing people at the moment.
Strix sat by himself in a corner of the room. It wasn't that he disliked people or anything like that exactly. In fact his alter-ego was known to be quite sociable, hard-partying even! That said, it probably helped that his alter-ego happened to be a multi-billionaire and head of a huge multi-national conglomerate and was thus almost expected to mingle and socialize for all sorts of reasons. His current look on the other hand was more 'terrifying creature of the night' meant to invoke something half-man half-giant predatory owl than any sort of rich, friendly sociallte. In some ways that was the way Strix liked it.

Besides, from here he could get a good view of the room and really observe everybody else. He believed in the idea of The League, at least. In fact he was discreetly funding much of its' activities. That said, he still didn't know too many of the people here, and despite assurances from others that all of them had been carefully vetted beforehand he still couldn't let his guard down until he had confirmed whether or not they were dangerous with his own eyes. After all, any of them could be agents of The Conspiracy.

The Conspiracy was everywhere and had fingers in everything, slowly moving the world towards their inevitable goals. The increase of super-villain crime rates over the past few years, the recent rise in economic inequality and poverty, sinister rumors about water fluoridation, actual water fluoridation, the beginning of viral music videos and East Asian Synthoid Pop as musical phenomena, The Girl Scouts, they were behind it all if anyone ever bothered to look. But no one ever did bother to look, no one but him.

Naturally there were a few heroes here he'd been already able to confirm as clean in terms of involvement including Hi-Voltage, Pariah, Zenith, and a few others. But until he was sure, he would stay here and observe, ready to seek out spies wherever they were.

It was exactly this sort of attitude that generally got him labelled an insane conspiracy theorist. It was also what made him arguably the World's Greatest Detective.
Batman sighed in fake exasperation as Robin proceeded to turn into a hyperactive puppy, loudly thanking him, practically vibrating with energy and excitement and energy. He was almost certain she was going to go against orders and actually faint once she heard Superman's potentially joking compliment about making room on the Watchtower soon, but she held up surprisingly well and instead just mentioned the word awesome around three or four times in response.

Still, he couldn't quite blame the girl. It wasn't every day that you met a living demi-god and icon to hundreds of millions, maybe billions of people, even if Clark could never even start to think of himself that way. Dick had been similarly enthusiastic when first meeting him, although Bruce had shut him down fairly quickly to keep the atmosphere professional. Tim's reaction was just slightly short of fanboy-ish as well and even Damian had seemed impressed if nothing else. Not that Bruce was smiling at all, in fact he was working very hard not to smile.

That task became easier when he noticed General Lane and his troops had pulled up. Lane was a hindrance at the best of times and a blind zealot or a clueless puppet at the worst. Whether the general was an honest man wasn't the issue considering the sort of people he reported to unofficially made his input meaninglessly. The only things stopping Batman from outright demanding that they leave without claiming the robot or anything related to it was the need for the Justice League to maintain as good an image as possible and Superman's inherent trust in the government and military. So instead of making much of a scene, he would just stall them and put his arrangements with Aquaman and his resources as head of Wayne Enterprises to good use and quietly slip the robot out from under the government's nose with them none-the-wiser.

"Robin, give Superman the arrow and lets go. You can socialize with the League another time, but we still have other business in Metropolis and we need to make preparations. A pleasure as always, General. Make sure to give Amanda my regards."

Batman turned to leave without waiting for a reply, expecting Robin would probably try and stay to talk a little longer afterward as he moved toward the jet.

The U.S. military would logically want to take custody of the robot's wreckage, and Superman is willing to cooperate with them. Batman is obviously not as trusting, so I think it makes sense for him to go behind Superman's back and secretly obtained some of the alien tech. Also, I'm really looking forward to having Superman and Robin interact. Superman is so iconic and our Robin is so often starstruck that I think it's going to make for a fun dynamic.

Yup. That's why I already took time to have Batman drawing up plans to obtain parts of the robot including bits of its' internal circuitry in a few of my earlier posts. Also why I had him specifically instead of Batman taking it.
"I would have thought you owed me more than once for the situation with Starro the Conqueror, Aquaman. Unless of course letting him mind-control you into invading the surface world as a distraction was all a part of your brilliant plan." Batman shot right back over the intercom. True, the Amazo battle had left him in a tight spot for a moment, but he doubted the force of that kick would have reached all the way to the sun and having begun training himself to survive in a vacuum for a while he would probably have had plenty of time to come up with a plan if Aquaman hadn't stopped the android's attack.

Batman cracked a barely visible smile as Madison made her clumsy entrance back into the plane, although he was careful not to let the sidekick see his face. She had done the job well and the mistake was a small one, so he had no intention of chewing her out over it. This was far from a real victory considering all they still didn't know, but it was Madison's first major mission with the League, so he could afford to let her enjoy it, for now.

As Ambush Bug appeared on his wing and proceeded to almost use Batman's real name, he glared at the would-be hero "Slip up like that again and I won't hesitate to knock you off of the wing." The fact that Ambush Bug would obviously survive was beyond the point. When he went on to mention robotic circuitry and whether Arkham was haunted though, it almost made up for it. "I'd like to run some tests on those circuits you've got, eventually. As for Arkham well...considering some of the things I've seen there, it seems more likely than not. But trust me when I say it doesn't take ghosts to skew the treatment results there."

Batman pulled the jet up to the other heroes and used the vertical verniers to slowly lower the aircraft straight down to the ground and retracted the canopy while jumping out as he did so, just in time to hear Aquaman's comment to Superman.

"I could spend some time pouring over the data myself to look for clues...but the fastest way to figure out why a robot from space is hunting a Kryptonian would be to just ask another Kryptonian or at least a copy of one, right? Robin, give Superman the data and introduce yourself. Try not to...try and...just don't faint."
If anyone else might want a prior association of some sort with Strix, PM me to let me know and provided there's a way to make it make sense we can work something out I guess.
