Name: Avery Grant
Age: 19

Species: Kitsune

History: Avery was born like most others, a typical human. Her parents were businessmen who often had to travel to places all over the world, and would sometimes bring along their only child. It was on one such trip to Japan that Avery found herself changed. A ninko, a mischievous invisible fox spirit, possessed the body of the three years old child. Her parents had been terrified because of the different stories that revolved around the ninko, and they immediately took Avery to get the spirit out. They soon became aware that the spirit had been looking for a home - for what, the elders were not sure - and had bonded with Avery, giving her the powers of a kitsune.

As Avery grew older, she showed the signs of her possession in the most troublesome of ways. The young girl would often shift into her fox form and breathe tiny bolts of lightning at the other kids or creating illusions to pull pranks on them. She was often reprimanded, though, and as she matured, she learned to control herself. It became apparent to her that the spirit infused in her body had become her. There was no separating them now. They were the same person - the same soul.

Still, being born human, Avery only has some of the powers of a kitsune. Her lifespan is long, but she is not immortal. She can shapeshift into a fox, but without the nine tails. She can breathe lightning, but only when in her fox form and it is limited in amount and strength. She can create illusions, but they require an obscene amount of concentration to maintain. The only kitsune ability in which she is not hindered in is flight.

a 1x1 rp between dee & Carlsberg

The supernatural have roamed the earth since ancient times, and they have never made their identity a secret. It was only until the non-supernaturals became clouded with fear that they began to hunt down the supernatural and forced them to go into hiding. This lasted for nearly a century where supernaturals became the stuff of bedtime stories and myth. Then the supernatural returned.

The humans feared a war with these creatures of mystic, but those that had approached them wanted nothing but to live in peace and harmony like they had before the non-supernatural began their hunt. After much negotiation, a treaty was signed and the supernaturals have roamed the streets freely since then. Still, there were those who opposed the treaty. There were supernaturals who hated the non-supernaturals for the war or saw them inferior. There were non-supernaturals who remained crowded by their fear. There were laws hindering them from openly starting another war, but they would damn well still try.

UCLA is one of the many universities all over the world offering housing and courses catering the the different needs of the supernatural. What sets them apart from other universities is the fact that they house supernaturals and non-supernaturals in the same buildings. This, of course, means that security around campus is a little tighter, but the staff continues to promote harmonious living among their inhabitants.

@Mivuli The smol mermaid princess that is Halsey is life.

@OfficerHeadbutt So I checked it out and I'm definitely going to read it. It looks kind of long though. Six books. Wow. And I'm kinda thankful that you changed the age to eighteen here. Whew.

AHHHHHH!!! Now I'm even more excited to see this rp start~
Gwen had been looking out the window, entranced by an elderly man walking a dog that was almost half his size, when she heard the door to the cafe open. She watched as a young woman entered and a small smile fell on her lips as she wondered what story this human had. The smile dropped a tad when she heard some woman call out to the newcomer. Gracie. It fit. It all fit her sister's description. Some girl who had lived in Seymour all her life would be returning to the town. She was some kind of failed musician, or at least that was how Henrietta chose to word it.

She watched as the woman - Grace, she corrected herself - hugged someone. Hugging. The last time she'd experienced that bit of human comfort was with him, she found herself thinking bitterly. She briefly wondered where he was now, what he'd done with his life. He was better off without her, she knew. She shook herself out of her thoughts and focused back on reality to find herself staring back into Grace's eyes. Ah, she was suffering from Henrietta's spell. She wondered how it felt to have your mind messed with like that.

And then it was over just like that. Grace broke her gaze away, leaving Gwen to watch her in her wake.

"Right," she muttered under her breath as she settled the mug on the table. This was her target handed to her on a silver platter. She cringed inwardly. The image it brought to mind was disconcerting when she realized that she'd be making a meal out of this girl. A frown found its way to her lips as the hands of guilt momentarily grabbed at her, but she could almost feel something pry them forcefully away - something that felt just like Henrietta. She was dying, and she needed this to survive. She had to remind herself of that. "This is just nature," she said to herself as she gathered up the courage to stand and approach the two.

Gwen took a deep breath as she neared them before smiling softly at - she ran through the names and faces Henrietta had presented her earlier - Alice. "Excuse me," she began, pointedly ignoring Grace but keeping an eye out for her at her peripheral. "I'd like to purchase something to accompany my cocoa." She headed over to the display and pointed at one of the confectionery offered. "This, hmm, bear claw perhaps."

She nodded to herself before turning back to smile at Alice. "I'll have that one." She moved to head back to her table before stopping, a look of fake surprise on her face as her eyes fell to Grace. "Oh my, I didn't notice that you were here first. I didn't mean to cut in line."
A pale finger caressed the window that separated her from the outside world. The small cottage was as stifling as it was years ago - perhaps even more so on this beautiful day. The woods was so alive in the summer, and yet she was stuck in her cage. Gwen looked away from the torturous sight and headed back to the kitchen. She grabbed an apple from the table and bit on it, letting the juices flow down her throat. Her tongue tasted nothing, and she'd have killed to know if it was as sweet as it looked.

She felt more than heard her creator's arrival and the barely eaten fruit was tossed to the trash. She greeted the only social interaction she had in decades with a bright smile and an excited glint in her eyes. "What have you brought today, sister?" A part of her hoped it would be another book - something she could amuse herself with for a day or so. Or perhaps, even a piece of human technological wonder but she knew that would be nigh impossible.

Her grin and excitement faltered when she saw Henrietta. There was a certain glint in those eyes that she could not put a name to, but scared her nonetheless. "Sister?" she prodded gently, not quite sure if she should ask.

A hand caressed her cheek. "Gwendolyn, it is time. I have found you someone. You will regain your strength. You will reach your full potential."

Gwen turned her head away from the hand. She wanted to shake her head - to say no - but she felt in her core that she needed it. She'd gone her entire existence with only second-hand sustenance from Henrietta. She was already weaker than an average human. If she didn't feed soon, she'd die. She gulped and allowed her eyes to slide shut. "What is their name?"

"Grace. Grace Carson."

Gwen sat at a booth tucked on the corner of the cafe, a hot mug of cocoa in her hands. Her body buzzed with the excitement of being let out of the cottage and she watched the people around her with rapt attention. They mostly ignored her, having been planted with vague memories of her existence by Henrietta. That was just fine with her. She was too busy taking in everything at once.

She sipped the cocoa and scanned the cafe, wondering if Grace Carson was one of its patrons.
Name: Harley Peyre
Age: 17
Gender: Cis-female
Sexuality: Bisexual

Appearance:

Personality: The first thing people notice about Harley is that she's ambitious. There's not much that would stop Harley from trying to achieve her goal, even sometimes developing tunnel vision because of it. She's reckless in the sense that despite sensing danger, she'd jump straight into a situation if it means she can get something she wants. Harley isn't quiet. She's exuberant and outgoing, and this sort of optimistic and lively attitude has gotten her quite a number of friends and close acquaintances. Connections, as she'd call them.

Harley is honest to the point of being tactless. While some might find that trait of hers endearing, her mouth has gotten her in more trouble than she could handle. Despite it, there's no fight that Harley turns her back on. Her pride and loyalty might actually be the death of her some day, but if you ask her, it would be all worth it.

History: Harley has lived in the small town of Solis, Ohio her entire life and she's sick of it. She knows who everyone is and what everyone does every second of every day, and the normalcy has become something unbearable. Harley has big plans to be a part of CNN, get her name out there and win some awards. She can't very well do that when the only news-worthy thing that happens in Solis is the annual chili-eating contests, which is more disgusting than interesting. Still, she's hoping that as soon as she finishes her high school education, she'd be able to get a letter of acceptance from a university in the big city where all the news are.

Full Name: Antoinette "Ant" Pearce
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Birthday: April 3rd

Species: Mutant
Power: Persuasion. The user can compel people by speaking, the victims are unable to disobey; the seemingly cogent commandment is far too compelling. At high level, user can even persuade people into hurting/killing themselves, but can never cause victims to achieve what they are not capable of

Coates or Townie: Coates (Bad)
Personality: ((I'd rather this be something discovered through interaction, but you can get a pretty good idea from her history.))

Brief History:
The Pearce family was known in San Perdido for one thing and one thing only - they were some of the wealthiest and most influential people in the town. James Pearce was San Perdido's acting mayor, and everyone looked at his family for perfection. There was Mrs. Yasmin Pearce, a masterful pianist. Their first born, James Pearce Jr, was the personification of perfect. Great grades, great looks, and a great attitude.

Ant, on the other hand, was nothing more than a black sheep - a mistake that her parents would rather stuff in the attic and forget. She was sent away to Coates Academy, and she knew well enough what that meant. She was fine with that. If her parents didn't want to acknowledge her existence, then that was just fine with her. She took her trust fund and left the academy. She found herself a new home in the downtown area of Perdido. She met people the Pearces would have never dared to even breathe the same air with. The wrong crowd, as some people might say. For Ant, they were the only crowd that accepted her without question.

They became her family. The band she formed with them gave her the inspiration to wake up every morning. She loved them almost as much as she loved herself.

When it happened, Ant felt ecstasy crawling up her veins. Oh, she was finally free of their clutches. She was finally free of her insipid mother, her perfect brother, and her cruel father. Her friends had began to loot around when they encountered a Townie that threatened to stop them from destroying the town. That was when Ant discovered that the words she spoke could actually manipulate people. An evil smirk took over her face then. The Coates knew she would be useful, and Ant was willing to do anything for her friends. Rather, she was willing to make people do anything for her friends.

Full Name: Olivia "Liv" Lazarro
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Birthday: July 29th

Species: Mutant
Power: Healing. User can restore biotic organisms to their optimal health, curing damaged or withered organisms, wounds, broken bones, low vitality, and diseases/poisoning. Though the user may potentially heal any form of bodily damage, the patient must be alive, even if hanging by a thin thread, in order to be healed; once the patient has died, it would transcend healing and would require resurrection instead. In order to heal others, the one to be healed must come in contact with the user's blood.

Coates or Townie: Unaffiliated (might become a Townie)
Personality: ((I'd rather this be something discovered through interaction, but you can get a pretty good idea from her history.))

Brief History:
It was a car accident that killed Liv's parents when she was only two years old. Her mother had cradled her - shielded her from the blunt of the truck hitting their car - and saved her. When help arrived, they tried to find a home for the young child left behind by the young couple. They searched for the couple's family, but they were from another country and no one knew how to contact their family. And so they had decided to simply let the local orphanage take care of the infant.

Liv grew up in the system, bouncing around different foster homes until she was seven years old. That was when she'd been adopted by a young couple. They were happily in love and greeted Liv with bright smiles, but Liv refused to allow herself to believe them. Even in her young age, she'd learned. Couples took kids like her in for the check that came with her. What Liv hadn't realized then was that this couple weren't like her foster parents. There were papers, legal ones. Before she knew it, she had been with the couple for a year and a half.

Liv was finally opening herself up to be happy. She was finally starting to accept that this family might be it for her. And then they had a baby. Liv knew from experience what a biological child did to kids like her. She'd be sent back now that the family had their own flesh and blood. Liv prepared herself for the pain and rejection, but it never came. She was proven wrong yet again, and the little bundle of joy with bright blonde hair - so completely opposite of her - became the apple of her eye. She had a family, and dare she say it, she was happy.

Annual family trips had been a tradition for the Lazarros. When Liv boarded the plane with her family - to somewhere new, somewhere exciting - she never thought she'd be losing everything in a town she didn't even knew existed.
