Current That isekai idea works until you take into account the advanced part and include things like AI, brain machine interfaces, etc. Knowledge can just be downloaded.

Unless you love kids a little too much, then a prison sentence is what can be done about it.

Hm, it does seem kind of interesting.
Not sure how I feel about the tech they use, as long as it's not too advanced compared to the outside world it should be fine

It's mainly small things such as recorders that use a type of scrying magic to copy texts and such. To avoid attracting too much attention, most agents will dress and act the same as people in the world, the habits of whom they've studied over the years, or simply pretend to be seekers of knowledge from far off lands. Faceless nobodies one doesn't pay too much mind. The main bulk of advanced tech is in Aroth itself, and even then there aren't really any warmachine type devices due to the orders dislike of conflict. Most of the existing tech in the Athenaeum is used to keep it suspended where it's at, though I do plan on having members who are sent out into the world use specialized devices that use teleportation magics for transportation back and forth. Still have to think that out a bit more, but it won't be overpowered. As for the agents themselves, I don't think I'll have them use magic, at least not all of them anyway. Make it sort of varied. Some use magic, some are skilled with the blade or fist, and others are really good at lying, etc.

As for the Engineer Corp, they will be maintaining the Athenaeum itself obviously, and making useful items for agents to use out in the field. May or may not have them be biologically immortal as well just to make it more self contained, though that can be changed if needed.
*I stretch out my experimentally, Rex curled up next to my feet, and watch as a rift opens a few feet in front of me. Staring at it for a bit, I slowly ball my hand into a fist and close it*

Heh, I'm getting better at this. Shame I still can't go exactly where I want though. Still... this is a pretty useful power to have.

So here's my guild thus far. While not necessarily a guild in the traditional sense of the word, it still functions as an organization and it's desire to find and preserve knowledge would allow its members to interact with other's throughout the course of the roleplay. Maybe some necromancer or some such wants to use Eldritch knowledge or an old ritual tome to take over the world, well the Watchers would definitely get involved. Not just to take the knowledge from said villain, but help save the world so there's a steady stream of new knowledge to collect.

And I know there's no advanced technology in this, and I've sort of given a reason for that in my WIP sheet here, but these guys do have some magitech. Though the most advanced stuff is keeping the Athenaeum in pristine condition while lesser items and devices are used by those who leave it to go back to Vrenorza to collect things. Anyway, let me know if it fits or not.

Alright. I'll see what I can come up with.

Location: Duncaster Streets.
Time: 5:00 PM.

Interactions: None.
Music: A Midnight Stroll Under Skies of Grey.

Vitius let out a loud grunt as he peered out onto the sidewalk from a dark alleyway, watching the crowds pass by on their way to the first ever Duncaster Unity Celebration. He hadn't heard too much, being far more preoccupied with getting as far away from that plastic tool shed he'd been trapped in for the last couple of hours and its irate owners, but from what he had overheard the celebration taking place around the Unity Monument was supposed to help put to rest the maelstrom of controversy over its initial construction back in 1903. In all honesty though, the debates and bad blood surrounding the statue didn't concern him all that much. If living out three-hundred years of history had taught him anything, it was that people-normal or not-would always find something to fight over, be it resources or personal beliefs. No, what bothered him more than anything on this fine night was Colin's sudden appearance. Although he didn't devote much thought to it while wandering Hell, he had been thinking the whole situation over while waiting out the sun in that plastic box. The entire thing was puzzling to say the least. Last he'd seen his "companion" was on the night he'd left, meaning he should have died by now, yet here the man was alive and well three-hundred years later, seemingly without having aged all that much during that time.

He'd tried figuring out just how the ranger had been able to come this far into the future without any sort of supernatural or mystical form of immortality, but to no avail. Although he did have one possible solution, which was more of a theory than anything else at this point, and that was the potential use of teleportation magics. A mishap with rituals such as those involved with moving oneself or others throughout space could certainly account for the disorientation on Colin's part, or at least that's what he reasoned anyway, but that still didn't give him anything concrete nor did it tell him why the man would be messing about with such forces to begin with. From everything he'd seen, the ranger would have trusted in the strength of a wooden stick over mystical rituals and vague seances. While this was something Vitius himself could respect, to a certain degree anyway, it did not help make solving this any easier. There was the man's mentions of a Samael character though, and from what Vitius had been able to piece together from their very brief encounter the malevolent sounding figure in question seemed to have a wealth of magical power as well as a vast network of servants, at least if Colin's insane accusations were anything to go off of anyway. Could he have been the reason Colin was here? But if that were the case then how? Had the man figured out some way to send people through time or make them immortal without them knowing?

Vitius shook his head. There were too many questions and not nearly enough information with which to begin answering them. Leaving those thoughts behind Vitius turned his attention back to the busy world around him and stepped out onto the sidewalk, still clad in his plate armor. Ignoring most of the curious looks he got from various passerby along with the odd cry praising his cosplay, the old vampire slowly made his way to the monument and by extension the festival he knew would be taking place there. After all city officials had made certain to plaster fliers of the event all across the damn city. Why he must have passed at least six on his way here, each of them advertising free food for humans and supernatural entities alike, as well as fun, music, and fireworks.

A loud boom shakes the sky before fading away with a vibrant flash of red light.

Lots of fireworks.

To be fair though, after huddling in the darkest corner of a tool shed that smelled of musty grease, grime, and metal, he'd built up quite the appetite. And currently the closest source of fresh blood was sitting in the carts being wheeled out onto the freshly cut lawn in front of the monument. So, pushing his way through the crowds of people, Vitius quickly made his way through the busy streets and towards the waterfront where the celebration was taking place, eager to get his hands on some blood sausage or a freshly made blood soup.

Might be interested in this, though I must ask, what's the status of space and/or time based magics? Is Chronomancy a thing and if not, what about portals? I was thinking either a Guild that polices time travel or time magic use, or a Guild that provides magical transportation via rifts in space-time.
Alastor bristled a bit at the man's presumption of his skill, but eventually let it go. Andy did make a good point. Realistically speaking he wouldn't be able to survive here on his own for any long period of time, not without in depth knowledge of how human society functioned anyway. And the only place he could get that info was from Andy. The Laizu sighed internally, seeing his options dwindle right before his eyes. He didn't like the idea of relying on one of these meat sacks, yet what other choice did he have? It was either this or spending the rest of his time fumbling around here until he was killed or his mortal prison died.

"Well seeing as how you're my only readily available source on human customs, it'd be illogical for me to kill you," Alastor replied, his lips twisting into a small smirk. "My people may be alien and strange when compared to your own, but we're not mindless beasts. Still, if it puts you at ease, I swear not to harm you for the duration of my stay here. However long or short that may be."

Alastor settled back down into his seat with a slight exhale. Hopefully that placated Andy to the point where his paranoia of the whole situation wouldn't interfere with any plans that happened to develop down the line. The last thing Alastor needed was to attract more attention than he already had upon arriving.

"As for this... bedroom, that should suffice," he said, shifting his gaze back over to Andy. "I may be a lord, but that does not mean I am not used to making due with less."
*I sigh, stretching out to release weeks of pent up tension as I near the outskirts of Voson, its ruined towers and building rising out of the ground like decrepit teeth. Quickening my pace, I watch as people go about their daily business with an expectedly tense attitude*

Hmm. Glad to see this place is as depressing as always. At least now I don't need to worry about seeing it everyday... *I glance down at my hands* Not anymore.

*Making my way deeper into the ramshackle town, I eventually find myself standing outside the building Eva asked me to meet her at. It was a squat thing, made of broken and cracked brick, its exterior covered in more dirt than I've ever seen in my life. Stepping up to the main entrance, I knock three times and wait. After a couple of minutes a familiar redheaded woman answered the door*

Eva: Yes? *She pauses momentarily before smiling brightly* Cyrox! I was wondering when you'd turn up! Well, I was wondering if you'd even get my letter to begin with considering how much you seem to wander after all. *Chuckles* Eh, never-mind all that though, I'm just glad you could make it here safely. *She steps to the side, gesturing into the dim hallway behind her with a slight wave* Please, come in.

*I step inside as she closes the door behind me*
So this is where you live huh?

Eva: *Nods* For the time being yes. I tried finding a better place, but with the world being like it is, I'm just happy I have a roof over my head and a safe place to keep all my stuff.

Mm, I see.
*I stop for a bit to let Eva go on ahead, and she leads me to a small living room type area. Moving over to a torn up couch, I plop down, my suit filtering out the dust that plumes up into the stale air*

So. You had something you wanted to give me?

Eva: *Nods* Yeah. Seeing as how I wasn't able to thank you properly that day and all. *Pauses, turning to leave the room. As she reaches the threshold of one of the doors, she looks back briefly* It's in my bedroom with most of my other stuff. Wait a minute and I'll bring it out to you.

*She leaves, returning a few minutes later with a small mewling creature bundled up in a faded towel. Bringing it closer, she sets it down in front of me and uncovers it, revealing its true nature. It was a baby Tassir, about the size of a small puppy, though I knew that would quickly pass as time went on. Watching it keenly, I lean down and pick it up, smiling as its cerulean eyes meet mine. Or, well, the place on my helmet where my eyes would be anyway*

A Tassir? I thought these went extinct when the Beast Lords fell.

Eva: So did I, but it turns out one of the wasters involved with their downfall saved a pregnant mother and her litter. I don't know where the others ended up, but this little one here eventually ended up in the hands of one of my contacts. Took me weeks but I finally saved up enough to buy him. Figured I'd give him to you on account of you saving my life and all.

*I blink, my smile growing wider by the second as the small shark-tiger hybrid licked at my helmet. It was a miracle I was even holding this thing, let alone that others of its kind were still around. An old world combination of reptile and tiger genetic traits for its overall appearance, in addition to some German Shepard DNA for increased loyalty, the Tir'aak were made on behalf of the rich and famous who wanted even more exotic pets than the ones they currently had. While originally consigned to the purview of the 1%, these giant creatures were eventually turned over to various zoos for public display and viewing. When the war came, and the cities burned, these creatures made their escape from captivity and entered the wilds where they were found several decades later by the Beast Lords. The Beast Lords, a collective of tribally minded men and women who sought a return to the ancient ways of mankind, utilized the massive creatures in battle and were often seen hurling spears from atop their backs. When the lords fell to a group of wastelander's who'd gotten sick of their shit, these creatures were presumed dead, as several other factions in power at the time swept in and began a mass purge in the hopes of eliminating the Tassir permanently.

Of course, as Eva had said, that didn't go exactly as planned*

*I look up at her*
I... I don't know what to say. Thank you.

Eva: *Smiles* You're welcome, but in all honesty it's only fair. Life for a life I say. Speaking of which-*Her expression becomes somber*-his life is in your hands now. Take care of him for me alright?

*Nods, locking my gaze with hers*
I will.

Eva: *She smiles, placing her hands on her hips* Good. Now I think he needs a name don't you?

*I blink, turning over various names in my mind*
A name huh? Hmm... let's see... how about Rex?

Eva: *Tilts her head to the side* Rex? Sounds kind of generic, but hey it's your Tir'aak. If that's what you feel fits then go for it.

*Nods, scratching one of the creatures ears as I cradle it in my arms*
Hmm. Rex it is then!

Eva: *She laughs lightly, watching as I get to my feet* Do keep in mind you'll need to train him. It won't be easy, but I guarantee you it'll be worth it.

*I nod slowly, still staring at the furry quadruped*
Yeah, I think it will. *I turn my gaze back to her* Again, thank you for this. It means a lot.

Eva: *Nods as we walk back to the door and she opens it, giving me room to exit* No problem.

*I exit the small building, new friend in tow and step out into the sunlit street beyond*
Apologies for the short post, but I don't really see the point in adding descriptive fluff to that part.
"I see..." Alastor begins, turning his gaze back to Andy. "As for the rest of this stuff, what do you suggest? Assuming you actually believe what I'm saying, you know I probably wouldn't be able to survive very long on my own without attracting a lot of attention."
