Pushing off of his seat into a standing position, Thaddeus set his plate down in front of himself before beginning his introduction. "Name's Thaddeus Fitch, but most people just call me Thad. I've done work as a courier all over the island, so you might have seen me dashing about delivering packages every once in a while, but most of my work lately has been as a research assistant and lab grunt over here, with the R&D department."
Arriving at his hometown for the first time in over a year, Victor stopped to take in the still-familiar sight of the city's imposing walls. After giving his name at the gates and entering the city proper, he turned off towards his family's house. On arrival, he pulled a cord by the small gate, ringing a bell in the main house.
Hearing the bell, his sister looked out of her room's window to see who it was, her face furrowed as it customarily was when she was being made to do one of those ladylike tediums that their mother so enjoyed, like needlework. Seeing who was at the gate, the furrow vanished as she threw down her assigned project and leaped out her window, clambering down the tree right next to it.
"Victor!" she shouted excitedly. "You're home!"
As she flew across the yard to him, Victor grinned at her excitement, stomping on the ground to bend some rock up to undo the latch of the gate, allowing him to enter.
"Ash!" he called, striding forward to meet her, bracing for the inevitable tackle as she wrapped him in a hug. "I've missed you, kiddo! How've you been?" Holding her back out at arms' length, he gave her a good look-over. "Seems like you've grown a bit in the past year since I visited, but I see you're being as stubborn as ever and not letting mom cram you into any of that frippery she insists is supposed to be fashionable."
"Yeah, I can never breathe in any of that stuff!" she replied. "Anyway, what've you got? You better have new stuff to teach me!"
"What," he replied, starting to walk towards the main house, "are my lessons the only fun things that ever happen to you?" Taking on a bit of a teasing tone, he added "It's almost like you've been trapped in the house this whole time that I've been off exploring, having fun, and going on adventures!"
"Shut up, you," she responded, shoving him as they walked into the entry area of the main house. "Well? Didja learn anything cool to teach me?"
"Yeah," he said, "My last job had me working alongside an airbender and a waterbender, and I'd swear those buggers danced when they were--"
"Victor," a voice flatly stated, interrupting him mid-sentence. "You're home," his brother continued, not even breaking his stride as he walked towards the door. "You're gone too much. You really should write when you expect to be returning; Father and I have an important meeting today." As he got to the door, he added "In fact, I'm on my way there right now; Father had some other business matters to attend to in town first, so I'm going to handle the first part of the meeting myself."
After his brother was out, Victor sighed, rolling his eyes. "Sounds like the stick has somehow managed to work its way even farther up his rear while I've been gone," he said. "Is he always that obnoxious, or do I get special treatment?"
"Eh," Ash replied, shrugging, "I don't really pay much attention these days. Anyway, how long are you going to be in town this time?"
"I'm... actually not sure," Victor responded. "I got a letter from Sensei, telling me to return immediately." After a brief beat, he added "I should probably go see him now, actually; I just wanted to stop in and let you know that I'm in town," grinning, and tousling Ash's hair. Turning towards the door, he looked back to see her teasingly pouting at him and said "Don't worry, I'll come back and tell you all about the dancing benders as soon as I can!"

After getting out of the house, Victor made his way to his sensei's place, stopping to admire the still-beautiful dragon painting before knocking.
"Come in!" a voice said from somewhere inside.
After Victor stepped inside, the same voice said "I take it you got my letter, then. Do you still have the token I gave you a few years ago?"
"Yes sir," Victor replied, pulling the coin out to show him.
"Excellent," Sensei said. "As you've no doubt learned by now, the Jasmine Dragon is more than just a jobs' agency for those in the know. What you may not have learned on your own, though, is just what it's purpose is. That, my boy, is what this is all about," he added, stopping to take a drink from the mug on the table in front of him. "Take a seat."
Victor sat across from him at his table, waiting for Sensei to fill him in on what exactly the purpose was.
Setting his drink down, Sensei continued "The goal of the Jasmine Dragon is quite simple, actually: restore order by removing the false Avatar who currently reigns. Now, I'm getting old, my boy, so I need my nap right about this time of day. I'll want you staying in town for a while, and join a team for work on a more permanent basis for the Jasmine Dragon when the time comes. Until then, go home, keep training, do whatever it is you do with your time since leaving my tutelage, and I'll find you when the time comes.
"Yes, sir," Victor said, before standing up and returning home to tell his sister more about the dancing benders.
So, any word on if and/or when this will be picking up?
"Sounds good to me," Thad replied, settling in to his seat, one hand covering his mouthful of food while he spoke. Looking around at the others, he added: "I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm about ready to find out what this whole training process is so we can get started!"
Looking back to Keilan, he asked "Do you want us to give formal introductions of ourselves, as well? Now seems as good a time as any, before any sort of action picks up," ending with a bit of an excited grin.
Hey, Jaeda! I'm certainly glad I get to join in this RP, as well; it looks like it will be fun!
With Keilan getting the newest arrivals oriented, Thad dashed over to the breakfast table, piling up a plate for himself, trying not to listen too closely to the tired man's half of what seemed like a personal conversation. When the two other recruits started a conversation, and Keilan chimed in, he decided to join the conversation as well, bringing his plate of food with him.
"Morning, folks!" he said skewering some food on a spike that just grew out of his fingertip. "Name's Thaddeus Fitch, but most folks just call me Thad," he continued, before eating the skewered food. "How about you two?"
Almost literally vibrating with excited energy, Thaddeus rushed to the facility towards which his letter had instructed him to go, arriving there what seemed, to him, like an eternity later (but, in reality, was mere moments after he had left). Stopping briefly outside the building, Thad scarfed down one of the nutrient bars his mother had designed to accommodate the intake demanded by those with mutations similar to hers, and then augmented to account for the further increase in appetite and metabolism that Thad's mutation introduced, before running the rest of the way to the designated meeting room, getting there somewhat earlier than he had intended.

Upon such a warm welcome, with Thaddeus returning the hug as enthusiastically as he got it, and almost before it actually got to him, he looked around, saying "I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I was the first one here besides the leader; I am a bit excited at the prospect of exploring somewhere completely new!" With a slight bow, he introduced himself to the woman in front of him, saying "Thaddeus Fitch, at your service! Though most folks just call me Thad," he said with a grin.
"I take it you're the lovely Keilan the letter mentioned we would be meeting?" he added, after a very brief pause.
Awesome, thanks!
I just put in an edit to briefly explain how he got the idea to try metalbending, while simultaneously limiting his initial abilities in it.
Name: Victor Cannae
Nation of Origin: Erde
Sex: Male
Appearance: Victor Cannae
Age: 20
Ability: Earthbending
Weapon of Choice: Halberd
Biography: Victor grew up as the second of three children in a modestly wealthy, and very traditional, family, never getting quite as much attention from his parents as either his brother or his sister. He was more than okay with this, however, as it gave him more time to himself and opportunities to observe the behaviors of those around hims, which became one of his most common pastimes at an early age. With his father grooming his older brother to eventually take over the business, and his mother trying to teach his younger sister the more delicate arts in the hopes that she may one day grow into a "proper lady," Victor was often left to his own devices. This often meant that he would find a good perch from which to watch the people of Erde go by and just see what he could learn by observing. When he eventually found himself on a perch overlooking the training yard of one of the barracks, he was enthralled by both the bending and combat training going on below him, and wound up returning to that same perch every day for the next couple of weeks, memorizing the practice routines and mimicking them later so that he could be like all the men in their fancy uniforms.
A captain of the guard soon began to notice the little face watching from his perch nearly every day, and called him down to talk. After hearing Victor's story, he scrawled out a brief note, which he then sealed and handed to Victor with instructions to take the letter to a certain old friend of the captain the next day. Victor then nodded and started running home, stopping to turn back and throw something very closely resembling a guardsman's salute at the captain before carrying on the rest of the way home. When he followed the captain's instructions the next day, he found himself knocking on a door decorated with a dragon winding through a field of white flowers. The man who answered seemed slightly older than the captain, and was rather gruff until Victor showed him the seal on his letter, at which point he invited Victor in to a sitting room while he broke open the letter and scanned through it. He then said that, while he wouldn't normally take such a young pupil, he trusted the captain's opinion, and would give Victor a chance. Victor was to report to him when the sun rose each morning, and stay to learn until the sun had set.
Over the following years, the Victor progressed from basic staff-work through to practice with real halberds, and from basic meditation exercises to center himself and bend more efficiently to full-on bending combat trials designed to see how long he could last before his own bending broke him and push him further. He eventually grew stagnant with the defensive nature of the combat he was learning, and asked his teacher what he would have to do to learn other styles, in case there was ever a situation in which the mostly defensive techniques he was being taught would not be sufficient. Pleasantly surprised by the question, his teacher told him that him asking that question was sufficient, and that he was ready to go out in search of a new teacher. He then dug out a small token, about the size of a coin, telling Victor to look for the dragon on his door, and that, as long as he had the token, or his teacher's name, a new teacher would not be too far to find. Over the next few days, he continued training with his teacher on a lighter schedule, using the extra time to make arrangements before he left. On the day of his 16th birthday, Victor finally left the city, going out to explore and learn, getting work when he could to supplement his funds, working as anything from hired help to a mercenary, occasionally finding his teacher's dragon painted on a door or wall. He would sometimes find a new teacher there, though he never stayed with them very long (maybe a couple of months at most), and he would also often find jobs there, some of which would have him working with other types of benders. When between teachers, Victor would revert to his childhood method of learning by simply observing those around him and mimicking their techniques until he could incorporate them into his own.
Special Information: Has been maintaining his original teacher's strict training regimen, including meditation and bending practice, to continue improving both his stamina and proficiency. Has also been observing the styles of very different benders, attempting to incorporate their bending techniques into his earthbending. After working a job or two alongside benders who could work with metal, and hearing their stories claiming origins from a long-forgotten earthbender, who supposedly developed the new technique while still a child, he has also been determined to teach himself metalbending (though the progress on that particular front has been rather slow, requiring large amounts of effort for relatively little return, especially in comparison with his normal earthbending).
I'm not sure if my expression of interest on the interest check has me count as one of the two pending applicants, but I'll go ahead and post the character I've been designing, so I can at least be on the waiting list.
