Anthony closes his eyes as he danced with Sue, enjoying the feeling of dancing with someone for no other reason than to enjoy their company. Unlike the other times he had danced with women, this wasn't an underhanded ploy to gain favour, he wasn't simply trying to woo her into his bed, and it wasn't a mere formality. It was visceral and genuine. It was amazing. Although part of Anthony realized that Sue might merely be happy for the company, he was lost in the moment. He continued the dance, even when the song was over and the room grew silent, save for the muffled sound of their footsteps on the carpeted floor.

Sue signed to Anthony: ”Some people don’t like you. But I trust you, no matter what they say. Thank you”

”I’m tired… I had fun, scrub. I think I’ll head to bed.”

She kissed Anthony on the cheek, and gestured him out of her room, the music and the lyrics still audible after she closed the door.

♫”Tell me what you want to hear… Something that will light those ears… Sick of all the insincere… So I’m gonna give all my secrets away.” ♫

Back in the ball

The music halted to a slow fade-out and Caits reappeared on the stage.

“Alright guys, you know what time it is! It’s time to announce the Prom King and Queen!

Now, we select our Prom King and Queen with our observation committee of telepaths and omnivisionaries, and we select which couple in this very gym was the best deserving as a couple and Prom King and Queen!

We narrowed it down to a few, but we believe this couple deserved it the most!

They are: Connor and Kijani!!!!!!!”

Suddenly, the crowd around them clapped in applause and joy for the most admirable couple. Two girls approached them with their crowns and a bouquet of flowers for Kijani, and a giant spotlight is shone on them.

Suddenly the song changed to something more energetic:

The crowd went mad.

Anthony smiles warmly and signs, “What are you talking about? You look great." When she turns on the music, he steps closer and asks, "Would you do me the honour of sharing this dance with me?"

She curtsied and pulled him in. The lights were turned off, but the source of light came from Sue’s headphones and the bright visualizer screen. It was still winter cold, but with Anthony’s arms around her, she felt… homely and… good.
