Ah. Always good to have that reminder.

-Canon- Especially when these two try calling shotgun on something as simple as an explanation.
-We made it work.
-Canon- “Work” is a strong word.
<Snipped quote by Disdain>

Forgotten what?

-Canon- To actually tell you the point of all of it.

Everyone I meet always has the most unique goal, drive, and worldview. Thanks for telling me about it.

-Canon- No problem. I think what they do is awesome; I was just always busy studying other things to learn how to bard with them. But I heard the same things they did. They would have completely forgotten without me.
-Spectre- It's Spirit's fault for not letting me tell it.

Interesting perspective.

-Canon- Barding is pretty much the backbone of Minstrel's culture, not because it makes money but because of its value. The people there have a love for stories and history. A number of civil wars many centuries ago encouraged them to learn from history, and in order to spread that spirit, their country developed barding and started sending its people out to learn about history and teach through it. Wherever these two bozos go, they're meant to go where they can pull in the most people.

Well while you find your luxury inn, I'll find a place to stay.

I don't think there's such thing as a luxury inn... I wish.
-Spectre- Canon's booking you and Serenity as well.

Other jobs are also linked, such as mercenaries and doctors.

Uh, yes, but not in the same way.
<Snipped quote by Disdain>

Why that profession in particular?

-Spectre- Inn culture and bard culture are inextricably linked. Inns thrive off of us and we thrive off them. The inn is where the whole town goes to spend their evenings; they need entertainment.
<Snipped quote by Disdain>

Sounds really complex. Who set that up?

I dunno. It's just kind of always been a thing. "You see that, you know it's them."
<Snipped quote by Disdain>

Why not just fake it?

-Spectre- The insignia has magical identification as well that can be activated in case of doubt. Ultimately, Spirit and I have to perform before we get our rooms. But the risk of setting the rooms aside is, in our observation, worth it for an inn owner—a Master Bard brings all kinds of business.
<Snipped quote by Disdain>

What does that do?

Every inn owner knows it; an instrument marked with that insignia is the sign of a master bard.
