@SimplyJohn He could be one of the Lone Star's original crew. Kept in cryostasis and unaware of all his colleagues' fates. All he knows is that he was to be put into the long nap until the return leg of their journey was done. He gets pulled out of cryo by our party and has to get reacclimated to life and also has to solve the mystery of what the hell happened to his ship and the rest of his colleagues.

@RPforthatPR That sound good to you?
Post done. Finally, after a long while of not posting.

Sorry to the rest of the guys involved in the Turncloak arc (Laue, Churro, Shien). I just...didn't have that spark until tonight.
I ran.

And ran.

And ran.

I didn't know for how long.

But that sinking feeling.

That fear.

You don't know what's behind you until you look.

I heard the Knight go down. He fought for barely a few seconds. Now he was dead.

Would he remember us when he awoke? Would he even remember himself? I didn't know. All I knew was that if I slowed down I'd end up like him. So we ran. We ran towards the forest ahead of us, and as we gained distance, the roaring and screeching behind us slowly faded away to a gradual silence. We'd outrun them.

But at what cost?

Didn't matter.

Keep moving.

"...listen for the tolling of bells..."

"...I will see you again when the night is darkest and the black sun breaks over the mountain..."

"...do not let them go astray, and trust not the wandering man..."

The words stuck with me. Those were the last real words he would've ever spoken.

But those words had given us an objective: reach the Mountain, at any cost. As long as we didn't die along the way, we found some crown, and we didn't trust this Hermit fellow, whoever he was. We do all of that, and when the black sun broke over the mountain he'd meet us again and everything would be right with the world? We'd enter this Mountain and find Paradise or some shit like that? It was far-fetched, a plan so convoluted and filled with holes that I knew my past self wouldn't have trusted it at all, if my past self remembered why.

Then again, this was the only thing we could do now.

The land before us had opened us as we'd left that Valley. The Forest loomed ahead of us and the sandy ground eventually gave way to stones and moss. A nice, refreshing change, if at all a happier ending than what we'd left behind. The four of us, this sad, depressed party, stopped in a bare field, populated only by us, what mirages and hallucinations inhabited our brains, and some stone pillars lined with moss, spattered by cracks and weathered by the twisted nature that existed in this land. A river flowed before us, but the sounds it made...weren't relaxing at all. In the silence of the Forest its trickling was...weird, disconcerting. A sign of peace in a land of madness.

This whole place was weird. There wasn't supposed to be any light and yet there was, in the form of this weird-ass green glow that inhabited the fog that rolled and undulated between the pillars. At times it looked like there was some huge serpent slithering through the very air, weaving through the stones, as if silently judging and observing us. I saw silhouettes through the fog too, something I never thought I'd see in my life; weird, humanoid figures that were and then weren't.

Huh.

Well, the four of us were a sorry lot. The new face (that I'd pegged earlier as a Prissy Bastard) was lying face down on the rocks, his back rising and falling with his ragged breaths. The Assassin was off to the side, perhaps observing and cataloging this new place, and the Lady was seated upon the rocks, her back against one of the fallen pillars. My concerns were more for her than anything else. She...her plight resonated within my soul. This wasn't something a lady of her like should go through at all. My thoughts went back to my wife and daughter. Oh, how I yearned for their company. I didn't want to imagine what it would be like if they were here, trapped in this same sordid hell like I was.

As I drew closer to her, I heard soft sounds, and realised they were coming from her.

She was crying.

Curled up, with her axe clasped between her hands and knees, her forehead resting on its flat, she was a sorry sight alright. I sat next to her and took off my mask.

"Well, this is some fucked up shit we're in, huh."

I couldn't deny it. This was the worst kind of hell imaginable by the minds of men. Hey, but we were here and we were still alive, by the Knight's sacrifice and by our own quick thinking. That was something, right? And here we were, ahead of any possible danger, with an actual moment to rest and recuperate.

At that thought, I smiled a little. Not once had we had a real moment to rest, not since the Valley. Things had just been going at breakneck speeds until this point. Now, finally, we could collect our thoughts, plan for the journey ahead and survive this bullshit to find our way home at the end of it all.

Hey, someone has to be optimistic here, right?

I turned towards her a little and, like she'd done for me previously, laid a hand gently on her shoulder. Softly, I spoke.

"Y'know, it's not all that bad. We're still alive, and that's good. We can rest and collect our thoughts. Make plans for the road ahead of us."

Then I raised my voice a little so the rest of our little quartet could hear me.

"So, now that we have this opportunity to rest and recover, why not we take this time to, y'know, actually introduce each other? We all have names, right?"
Don't know if that would be feasible. The Lone Star is a ship the size of several large cruise ships put together, which is currently abandoned and inhabited by a weird...Something.
"My name is Cho Sun-Jin. Wolf Leader. I work for ParaCom."

Cho took the wireless headset off his ear and stowed it in a pocket.

"But just call me Cho."

He saw the thingies that the Viking dropped from the pouch strapped to his belt. Those were the source of his magic, he reckoned. If he could just destroy that pouch...but first he'd have to neutralise that nasty sword. The shield wasn't any concern; he knew it from noticing the hole in it. Kolskegg pointed it out and he nodded.

"My...thanes? I guess you meant my team. But they're all dead now. Thanks to you."

As Kolskegg advanced towards him he mimicked those movements, but backwards and in the opposite direction, so that they were effectively circling each other. His hands steadied themselves on his rifle. He knew his bullets were more effective at range, but that's where he had to stay: at range.

"So, who moves first, hmm?"
I call the Warlock.
Cho stood from his hiding spot. The Viking had called him short! The nerve! Warily he advanced forward, properly taking in the detail of his adversary.

It was clear this warrior wasn't here for anything else. He was here to fight. He and his team were merely a distraction from some otherworldly goal. But now here he was, alone. Armed to the teeth. Up against a supernatural Viking swordsman that was better armed than he. But this wouldn't end any other way except with the death of either one of them. He had to fight.

"Mead, eh? I prefer beer, personally."

He watched as the Viking jogged around him in a slow circle. Obviously he was taking him in, sizing up his opponent. So far he'd only been slaughtering his team, poor men and women all, but now that this was a one on one, things took on a whole new dimension.

It felt like boot camp, almost. The way he would be left alone to suffer sometimes. Especially the winter trainings up in the mountains.

He gripped his rifle tighter and wheeled around slowly, following the other warrior's motion around him.

This was a battle of wits now, not brute force. He had the advantage of technology, but the warrior had speed and strength and magic behind him.

"What's your name, then? Can't have a fight without knowing the other's name."
"You got it."

Simon walked up from his place near the rear of the group, stowing his rifle carefully on his front rigging. A cursory scan with his optics indicated that yes, the Gygan was in need of medical attention, though which parts he would need to use medigel and which parts to solder...were not familiar to him.

"Hundred, I assume your internal mechanisms can repair themselves with that Dust of yours? For I am unsure of how to treat your more...mechanical injuries. Otherwise, stand still so I can do my work."

With her standing straight and still, he ran his optics over her proper, a deeper system scan that ran head to toe to identify injuries, of which she had several. Firstly, all the bruising and inflammation of flesh from the impacts of fragments of the asteroid belt they'd nearly perished in. Secondly, the burns and bruising from when she'd been hit by the explosion of JR's grenade back outside the Lone Star. There was also some stress damage to her legs; torn and stressed ligaments and tendons, bruised flesh and even some minor fractures (if she had any bones, that is).

"Alright, actually I need you to lie down for this. On your chest, preferably. I require access to the backs of your knees and ankles."

Once she did that, he drew a little gadget that looked and was the size of an average pen. With a click of the back end, a small laser was emitted from its tip. He twisted it and the laser's intensity lowered. With his other hand he grabbed a small spray bottle from his back rigging.

"Hundred, I'm going to numb your legs so that I can cut into your flesh. Once I'm done with that, I will be applying medigel to your injured areas, including your bones. I will require you to keep your legs and hips still during this process."

He knelt down and flipped his faceplate back on. With his laser cutter in his right hand and spray bottle in his left, he drew in close to the Gygan's lower half. His first step: spraying the backs of her legs with the bottle. The topical disinfectant and anaesthetic within acted quickly, seeping into her flesh and numbing it, along with removing any chance of foreign infection from the outside air or substances that she'd been in contact with. Next, he drew his cutter horizontally down the lengths of her legs and gently drew the flesh open with his fingers.

He'd never been familiar with Gygan biology, but upon seeing similarities to human physiology, he was silently pleased. With his optics he found several hairline fractures in her tibia and fibula's shafts, along with more severe breakages at her ankle joints, as if she'd been violently slammed feet-first onto something hard. He didn't really know, he'd been too busy fighting for his life for the past few minutes to have noticed her movements. The flesh around these breakages was injured; inflammed, some bleeding, thankfully no damage to any major blood vessels, including the ones that ran down the inners of her thighs. If those were cut, she would've died possibly, unless her more mechanical physiology would've stopped it.

He drew a tube of medigel from his back and popped the top. With a squeeze he laid out half the tube inside her left leg, and the other half in her right. Then he gently pushed the flesh closed with his fingers before using his cutter to cauterise the cuts, sealing them back up while the gel within went to work re-knitting her bones and healing her flesh. Simon reattached the empty tube to his back rigging and stood.

"Alright, that's done. You can re...uh, restitch your garments now, but do not move your legs for about five minutes. Give the gel some time to heal you."

He flipped up his faceplate, a small smile gracing his face.

"Well then, at least that's done with."
@Tenish the Mighty Will her Dust, like, repair her internal electronics by themselves?

EDIT: Never mind I re-read the post.
Simon will get right on that.

...the healing I mean. Not anything else.
