@DracheWell, Red Dragons prefer hot places to live , so I'd imagine you begin from one of the many volcanoes Faerun offers, or living in one of the many underground caves. Since you're a halfbreed, I imagine you can't be from *too far* away (though 200 years is a lot of time to get anywhere). Since you're a half breed, you're likely to have lived somewhere where you wouldn't be immediately exiled or attacked(dragons tend to not like half breeds either). I can think of Thay as being a somewhat suitable place(might want to try and avoid being too friendly with the Red Wizards). Damara and Vaasa both welcome such great assets as half dragons, though you'd be viewed with suspicion.

Any mountainous area would be a good place for you to live, though I'd avoid the ice cold north mountains since you're a Red (the antithesis of Ice). Look at the Firesteap mountains to the south south west of Two stars.

Volcanoes can be found in a few places, though almost none are active these days:

You'll note that all of those also tend to be good places for red dragons.

As wars go, all the major ones have died out in the last 200 years, but we can't ignore the Kingdom of Many Arrows and its history, describes in great detail in RA Salvatore's Legend of Drizzt series. It, along with the Drow's war of Darkness (The Spider Queen's attempt to kill Drizzt) could be classed as a 'major' war in the last hundred years, and it took place between hundreds of thousands of Orcs, dwarves, drow, humans and elves, and took place in the Silver Marches (NW on the map above). Being a dragon such as yourself is a rather high profile position, so if you do want to be part of that war, feel free to write yourself in as a somewhat minor role that could have been missed by the books.

Other examples of minor wars(look from 1353, as it's 1486 now):

I suggest keeping your involvement in either of those as being a major to minor role, but not a key one.

My apologies if I'm not exhaustive on this topic, but 'I'd like to be in a volcaneous area' and 'involved in a war' are so broad that I could probably fill a novel with the information that overlaps with both of those. Faerun's history is massive.
Finally got some contact with Drache, I have an ETA of tomorrow on her final adjustments of the CS.
@DipperTake your time, and thanks for focusing on what really matters.

2.0 is being used very sparingly in the RP (I'm leveraging spells, creatures, a world, and various lore bits), so knowledge of the game system is *not* required. It's nice if you know dice rolls and AC values, but that's about it.
@knighthawkDrache's having some startup anxiety here, so if (s)he wants to swoop in, we'll see what we can do. I'm poking Taco as hard as I can without being stalkery, so I'll give'm a day to respond and move on from there.

Thank you for notifying me!
@DracheDuly noted, no shapeshifting.

In FR, Dragons are a diverse lot. They can live pretty much anywhere where man doesn't have a settlement.

For a basic rundown of what the stereotype red dragon is, look here: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Red_dragon

Generally, I'd find a hot place on the Faerun map, but you are given complete creative freedom in your backstory.
@DracheYour character right now looks decent. Would you like to make up your own entry to the story, or shall we construe something together? You are a dragon after all.

Speaking of which, do you intend on having shapeshifting capabilities?
@CorsairGiven that this RP will last months and if we're lucky, years, I'd love to have some dedicated players.
@knighthawkThat's going to happen in the meantime (Drache will need a new way of meeting the mage). I meant not moving the story along *too much* for you to come back and be two pages behind.
I'm not sure what to say except that I picked these things because they are really cool. XD

I have been playing this character for a long time and she has a lot of history, which is good in one way because it makes playing with her more fun and interesting and easier to hear her voice in my head, but harder because when it comes to nerfing her to fit a lower-level campaign it's hard to let things go. :D

It's not my intention to break the game or make her overpowered so if that's your concern I will of course remove some things. When it comes to the strength of her abilities it's hard to put numbers on them because I got many of the ideas through free-form RP and not from a tabletop sourcebook. If you would rather decide the outcome of her actions based on a general pass or fail system rather than dice rolling then I would be happy with that. I tend to do things for flavour rather than to "win". I've never been good at or interested in "min/max'ing".

I did edit her sheet a bit but I was confused when you mentioned the +4/+6 stat modifier thing, I wasn't sure what you meant there. And then about her being reliant on combos, is that bad? I was just a little confused so I didn't make those changes yet.

Originally my intent with this character was to emphasis her ties to her red dragon ancestry, which means a lot of firepower (hah) but not a lot of practical skills (and even perhaps at a higher than usual spell failure rate due to a more "wild" type of spellcasting). I picked feats like not needing materials or components to cast spells because I don't think a dragon would need to do those things. High charisma as a sorceress = skills like bluff, intimidate, and sense motive. I liked the idea of spells and abilities that do multiple types of damage because fire is the most common resistance enemies have, so at least her lava bombs could bludgeon someone for half damage if they are immune to fire. I selected a bit of knowledge and language skills because initially she was a bit of a villain and had some dealings with drow and demons, and it maintains a bit of a darker side to her that goes along with her chaotic neutral rather than chaotic good alignment. In other words, others in the party are never quite sure if she might switch sides.

I hope this helped explain? Thanks for listening.

First of all, a nerf isn't strictly the only option: just be prepared to face much tougher enemies fighting *you* if you don't want to change anything. It's a perfectly valid option not to. My word on this isn't set in stone.

>If you would rather decide the outcome of her actions based on a general pass or fail system rather than dice rolling then I would be happy with that. I tend to do things for flavour rather than to "win". I've never been good at or interested in "min/max'ing".

I do both the pass/fail system and the dice/point system for determining damage. Having damage numbers helps me judge the power of your spells. I've provided a point system for players unfamiliar with D&D and a dice system for veterans.

The +4/+6 thing is a simple addition. Adding all the racial bonuses on your character sheet currently gets me 14 points being added in total (8+2+2+2), which I find a tad excessive given that all the other characters are in the range of +2 *and* have negative modifiers. Not only does your character have massive bonuses, she seems to have no weaknesses in the stat department. See my point of view? Which is why I suggested a new total of +4 or +6, distributed as you see fit.

>I picked feats like not needing materials or components to cast spells because I don't think a dragon would need to do those things.

This does also enable some gamebreaking combinations in a game where a teleport normally costs very rare diamond dust ;) I can deal with it, just seems a bit odd.

The combo reliance is a cool feature, it's most certainly a positive one.

So, are you going to nerf your character a bit or shall I just make the game harder for you? Either one is fine, and I already thought of some interesting restrictions on you/buffs on enemies/area effects should you decide not to nerf XD
@knighthawkI think we'll do better by not moving the story along until we have at least 50% of the players back :P

Have fun camping.
