I'm going to keep this relatively short, because it's really a story I'd like to develop with the right person. I also want to suggest that this will be a very dialogue-heavy RP. So, while I'm looking for a partner who might typically write 5+ paragraphs per post, I'd imagine the bulk of these posts will be shorter because of the dialogue as the characters get to know each other. When conversation isn't happening, of course, I'd still love to work with someone who writes in great detail!
Now, for the plot...
A "couple" either gets set up on a blind date by a mutual friend, or meets on some kind of dating app, etc. Bottom line, it's a first date and they don't know much about each other.
He's a recent Army vet, fresh out of the service and trying to readjust his way back to civilian life.
She's a (insert your preferred profession here) with a chipper personality and an affection for the holidays.
For whatever reason, the date probably won't lead to a second one. No major drama and no huge disasters - they just both know there isn't anything "there." So, at the end of the night, he offers to drive her home. She's staying at her family's cabin for the holidays, arriving early to prepare the place before the rest of her family gets there a few days later. Sounds homey, except it's well off the beaten path, and the snow has started to pick up.
See where I'm going with this?
Long story short, the two get stuck at the cabin somehow. Could be that his car gets stuck - maybe even gets a flat. Maybe the roads are just too bad to head back out. Cell service is shotty. You know the drill.
This could go so many ways. Maybe they'll end up totally resenting each other, maybe they'll fall in love and live happily ever after. Maybe her ex-fiance will show up since he knows she spends every Christmas there and wants to get back together. Like I said, I'm happy to work this out with the right partner. But again, I'd really like these two characters to get to know each other. Far too often, I feel like dialogue is lacking in RPs because we're so worried about creating long posts. That limits the conversation between characters. And, while I love the novella-style replies, myself, I want to try something different with this.
So who in the world are you looking for, DogDoc?
I have very few rules and regulations, but here are the basics:
- Be 18+. No wiggle room here. There will undoubtedly be adult themes, so being an adult is necessito.
- I'm a guy, and I prefer playing male characters. Happy to double up or play female NPCs.
- That being said, I'm more comfortable RPing with women.
- If you say you're an 'advanced' writer, please actually be one.
- Don't be afraid to add in your own ideas! I love plotting with my partners. Gets boring if we aren't able to talk things out.
- We all have busy lives, so let me know if you're going to be away for awhile, and I'll do the same. If you're not into the RP anymore, don't be afraid to tell me. I'd much rather you tell me that you're bored or uninspired or just need a break, rather than completely disappearing.
- I typically prefer to RP over PMs, but given the nature of this particular story, I'd even be up for outlets that let us move a little faster, like Discord, Google Docs, etc. Let me know what works for you!
