With the end in sight and something approaching hope in his heart, Nor managed to adjust himself to the rough situation, being able to move with the tower's crumbling and maintain pace. Finding his sea legs so to speak. Or his stone legs. But his short, stout legs were able to swiftly carry him down to the first floor, where he had stable footing and would probably be able to make his way out of the tower unmolested, barring some unlucky brick falling on his head or something. But even then, as tough and heavily armored as he was he had a decent chance of even something like that not being enough to keep him from getting out of this blasted tower.

At the bottom he remembered what he had overlooked earlier. Kyra's death and her wee dire wolf. Now in some other situation, he probably would have helped the beastie move his master's dead body and all that sort of ritual. He might have only known her for a few hours, but they had fought along side each other, and you respected your battle brothers and sisters when they passed. But the tower was going to completely collapse within the next who knows how long. He wouldn't get in Ash's way, but while he was stuck in this doomed tower, bad luck, poochie.

Atkin was rather miffed that she chose him specifically to snap at despite not even being the last person to throw in any input on what she should do with the stinking warlock. And on any other day he would have told her as much, queen or no queen. But given the context of everything else that had happened so far, he simply bit his tongue and let it slide. It was just another annoying thing that happened today to add onto the pile of awfulness that had occurred so far. However the worst part about this whole situation were all the witches acting like they weren't all as bad as each other.

"We're clearly the superior coven because we have total psychopaths who don't even try to have any semblance of human decency. You Wendron Witches are just cowards trying to butt in on our territory."

"Nuh-uh, our coven is better, because we brainwash the children we kidnap to like us and become part of our little cult out in the woods. Sure we stole Valda purely for political reasons and are going to try manipulating her so that we can do God knows what, but at least we acted nice to our pawn!"

Infuriating. Their bickering was enough to slightly change his outlook on the Young Army for the ever so slightly more positive. They didn't really try to hide what they were, and they were somewhat less insufferable than the Witches that he found himself surrounded by. Also that one huntress broad that dropped in agreed with what he said. Showed that there were at least some members of that awful organization that wouldn't necessarily just listen to only what Puck had to say.

But when Asha suddenly turned to look up, Atkin's gaze followed hers to find what appeared to be a massive dragon. For the split second where his brain was registering what it was seeing, he thought to try grabbing Valda and get her to safety before the danger could get to them. People like Arya and Asha could protect themselves, and Puck, Jadis and the like could burn for all he cared. Well, he didn't want any of them to die, but if they had to, he wouldn't be too torn up about it. However, every awful thing that had happened today would be made even immeasurably worse if she died here. That could easily spell the end of the entire Castle if all the candidates for the crown just up and vanished or died in one day.

But after that split second his brain detected something. He couldn't exactly say what it was, but he couldn't help but pick up the aura of inauthenticity about it. Asha's last comment only brought it into clarity. It was an illusion. Probably done by one of Malekith's friends to try giving him or them a way out. His next thought was to tackle the warlock into the ground before he could try anything, but he decided against it.If he really tried to make a break for it, Asha could simply Call him back to the stage, and with the Magyk she gave off, he probably wouldn't be able to resist if he tried.

"So uh, Arya," Atkin asked his teacher awkwardly, both due to the fact that there was a fake flying dragon torching them all with illusory fire and that he'd probably be drawing her attention away from far more important tasks at hand. "What are we going to do?" Atkin wasn't asking the question as a request for a big picture, long term plan of action, but more as in "what the fuck are we going to do for the rest of the day with everything going to shit?" Whatever she had planned this morning almost certainly was going to get chucked out the window.

Whether Arya took the question the way her apprentice intended was yet to be seen. And who knows, perhaps she would go through with everything she had prepared beforehand. Maybe the thing that they both really needed right then was a bit of normalcy and things actually going right for once today, rather than just spiraling into an ever larger clusterfuck.

Mali was able to get some sleep. Not a huge amount, and what she had was interrupted when Trisha made her entrance into the room. It seemed that if her old 6AM alarm had done anything, it had conditioned her to be able to wake up at the first significant noise that cropped up while unconscious. The next thing she noticed was that physically she felt awful. Not hungover, she hadn't consumed anywhere near enough alcohol for that to be the cause (although she wished she had). No, it was mostly that she was more dehydrated than a pack of corn husks and achey from sleeping in a weird position. And her fist vaguely hurt. She had been clenching something tightly as she slept, and given a few seconds for her brain to boot, she realized she'd kept a hold of the little multi-sided thing that Zoie had expelled a few hours prior.

Neither Relic nor Zoie appeared to be going for food just then, but she was not going to follow along with their pattern of lazing around in bed all morning. She didn't even feel all that hungry despite not having eaten since her lunch with Zoie the afternoon before, but she was going to get her fill regardless. Perhaps it was just habit to eat after waking up. Or maybe it was the part of her that kept her behavior in line telling her that not eating for so long is causing her to enter a catabolic state and the last thing she needed during her injured period was to lose more size and strength than was absolutely necessary. After all, every bad decision now would just be more work down the line when the cast was removed and she was given the go ahead to get back to lifting.

But she wasn't really thinking about any of that consciously as she sat alone at the table, eating as quietly as she could. Mali didn't want to wake Relic up unnecessarily or annoy Zoie. The kid had had a very long day prior, absent of the extended shopping spree and spa day she and Zoie enjoyed. After finishing her plate, she'd take a trip to the lavatory to briefly wash up and relieve herself, spending maybe 15-20 minutes in there before returning to the main room. Perhaps then one or both of them would feel energetic enough to at least sit up and eat something.

Gio noted in his head that Bart decided it was a better idea to disregard what he'd been told and instead, ask him a bunch of questions rather than focusing on the matter at hand of not falling behind in the crowd and ending up becoming lost in a burning Cairo. There were many such ways the emendator could have chosen to answer the cliches thrown his way, but a better thought occurred to him: don't reply any way whatsoever. The boy had no authority over him whatsoever, the questions didn't interest him in any way whatsoever, and he had no other external factors that made him beholden to respond to Bart. So he didn't.

Bartholomew probably wouldn't like being utterly ignored, but he'd just need to keep a stiff upper lip and deal with it. If he were to stick around, he'd have to go through far worse than simply not having an immediate answer for problems whose answers he could probably think through himself given a bit of time and effort. But that was the thing. People didn't like to be kept waiting, or having to come up with solutions themselves. They'd rather just leave their problems at the foot of others.

"Speaking of problems," Gio said, vocalizing what had before been simple internal dialogue, "it appears as though you've been quite busy, Signorina Gonzalaz." He stepped over and around the debris to kneel right next to her. Ouch, that wound had to hurt. Or not. Shock and/or adrenaline had probably set in so she probably wouldn't be feeling it as much as she would tomorrow morning. Well, the functional equivalent of tomorrow morning. Giosue returned to standing and offered both hands to her so she could stand up without having to put any weight down on her injured leg.

"Come, let's not waste time. We'll be able to better patch you up at Camp." Under normal circumstances, he would have given her a lengthy lecture about how she should know better about running off alone on a whim. But her injury, the fire off in the distance and the mouthy Bart all made him not all too keen on sticking around here any longer than was strictly necessary. Assuming Evelina didn't give her an immediate earful when they returned to Camp au Ville, Gio would once Alicia had been properly treated. But that would be later.

Harry Kingsfield

Clinic

The vertigo wasn't helping Harry get this wound treated at all. He had hoped that tying it up would be enough to keep it from actively interfering with his ability to act, but it seemed that he either did a shoddy job of jury-rigging a bandage (entirely possible given how rushed he was to wrap up, and his general lack of medical experience), or the wound was a lot worse than he had first thought. But the main issue was making sure that he focused enough to remember which way was down as he finished driving to the clinic, and afterwards, actually getting inside.

When he got to the counter, he steadied himself against it with one hand, relying entirely on his right hand to do all the hand things required. The most difficult part was reaching across his entire body to reach into the opposite side pocket so he could retrieve his wallet. However, once he had wrested it from the soaking maw of his trousers, Harry was able to easily produce his driver's license, insurance card as well as accidentally dumping $20 in one and five dollar bills all over the counter. Whoops.

"I was searching the abandoned house at the edge of town as part of my investigation into Riley Walker's disappearance; I'm the private investigator hired by the Walkers, and the floor suddenly gave way. I nearly fell through the floor. When I pulled my leg out, I saw it'd been pierced by some of the underlying wood." Harry explained as plainly as he could while the room continued to whirl around his head. Trying to withhold any information in some attempt to cover up what he'd been doing would only make them more likely to miss any potential maladies he might have contracted from the injury. And honestly, the last thing he wanted to do right now was have to answer more questions than strictly necessary. So he tried to give the man as much as he could need so his leg could stop leaking everywhere as soon as physically possible.

The worst part about being on the third floor of a collapsing tower was that it didn't leave you a lot of time to thing or be cautious, but he had to act as such on these stairs, or else he could easily end up making a bad step, tripping and getting caved in on. To make things worse, this was a shoddily made tower for humans with their long legs, and the stairs reflected that. Each step he had to lower halfway into a squat in order for his leg to reach the next step. And the shape of the tower didn't help either.

Humans took too much construction direction from the elves: because a lot of their constructions tries to emulate trees, there ended up no way to effectively climb it without going in circles. If they had chosen a more sensible natural feature to base their fortresses on, well one, it wouldn't be collapsing in on them. But the stairs would have been a straight shot to each floor rather than this spiraling nonsense. He still wouldn't be able to make the steps easily, but at the very least he could make a big leap for the bottom and tumble down to the foot even if he ended up short.

Speaking of feet, Nor spotted Keystone conveniently in the way on the second floor. Now the polite thing to do would slow down and let him lead the way down to the first floor, but fuck that. Right now it was every man for himself, normal social conventions be damned. Making himself as thin as possible (any difference in width was nearly imperceptible, especially as armored as the dwarf was) and slipped through/pushed through the gap between the cook and the wall, in the process shoving him to the side quite rudely. A few more steps down and Nor recognized that he was almost at the bottom and he could be free of this stairway hell. Something in the very back of his head told him that he was overlooking something. Something that had to do with the events before heading up to the top floor, but it had not the time to recall what exactly.

Well that didn't answer her question, but she didn't bother to fight it. Not right now. She could tell that any protesting would at best lead to an argument, at worst complete silence for the foreseeable future. It had been a very long day, and it was starting to hit her hard. All the remaining energy in her body seemed to flee from her out the wall she was leaning against and through the soles of her feet. Not to mention that right then Zoie was very busy emptying her stomach of the day's contents.

Now more or less alone, Mali allowed herself to slide down the surface of the wall until her butt was parked directly onto the floor. Yeah it caused her dress to ride up, and if you were standing at the right place, there was a "window of opportunity," but who gave a shit? The owner wasn't likely to barge in and disturb them, Zoie had already seen way more, and the kid was asleep.

She had no idea how Relic was able to get himself to sleep with all that wretched noise, but she wasn't going to ruin it for him. More power to him, in fact. As exhausted as she felt, Mali didn't feel the least bit sleepy. Insomnia wasn't an issue she had to struggle with historically, but it seemed to be plaguing her more and more these days. Hopefully, it wasn't going to develop into a chronic condition.

When Zoie came out, Mali didn't reply to anything she said. She maintained eye contact, but otherwise kept her head flopped up against the wall. She imagined that she looked like some sort of battery powered doll that hadn't quite used up the last of those precious AA's keeping it going, because that's about the level of activity she was able to maintain. She hoped Zoie didn't interpret her silence as her still being mad about the party. Although she couldn't say she wasn't still somewhat miffed about the situation, fatigue was the primary reason for the unresponsiveness. Had she the energy, right now she'd be offering possible explanations for Zoie's questions, She could certainly think them, but the words refused to come out of her mouth. It would really blow if one bad night was all it took to sour the entire thing they may or may not have going on.

Once the siblings had both passed out, Mali would summon the energy to get back to her feet and walk over to the table. Gingerly, she picked up the little ten-sided doohickey and looked it over. She had no idea what it was for, but one thing was certain in her mind, she was going to be the one to hold onto it. Wrapping the carved bone tightly in her fist, Mali turned off the lights and found a place to curl up and try getting some rest for the night.

Well Harry couldn't say he didn't expect this outcome. The kind of kids that would roll out to an active crime scene and poke around it in the middle of the day weren't the kind of listen to warnings about safety. And unfortunately he had neither the time, energy or strategy to effectively talk them out of their little plan, especially since he had a new obstacle in getting around in the form of the bleeding gash on his left leg. So with a quick "thank you," he made his way back to his car.

As much as he wanted to go talk with the Halsey woman Mrs. Walker had mentioned earlier, the injury really needed to be looked after first. He had seen serious injuries that had become infected when he was a child. Rotten, frostbitten, discolored flesh. Pustules, crusty casings and amputated stumps where fully functioning limbs once were found. Oil workers they may have been, and the situation far more precarious, the images remained transfixed in the back of his head, and he didn't want to end up like one of them. Once securely in his vehicle, he pulled out his phone and quickly looked up the location of the clinic that one of the girls had mentioned.

However, when he tried to drive, he found a sudden pain shoot up his leg. Seemed that it didn't like him pushing his foot forward like that to power the accelerator and pump the break. Well there was no way he was going to do something like call an ambulance, or worse, his clients for a ride. So for the time being, he'd take things slow, try to keep his foot stiff as possible, and just suck it up as best as he could until he managed to get to the clinic. It wasn't all that far away, and he'd been through worse before. If there was a real downside to this whole situation, other than wasting time and money he could be spending working on the case, it was that the blood was ruining the interior of his Riviera. It'd take forever to wash out all the bloodstains.

Maybe Bart didn't actually have to act all the naturally, thought Gio as he strolled through the streets, stuffed with panicking people concerned with the far more present danger of the fire just down the street than any oddness that could have come from his time-displaced companion. Well it was kind of down the street. The fire that is. Was. It was a bit further and you hand to take a turn, but it was easily within walking distance. Well, not so easy considering all the people rushing to deal with the fire. But it was also a hassle to walk away from it. You had to slip through and shoulder past a lot of people. Really travel was just kind of a massive hassle either way.

Why couldn't Alicia have just waited a bit and simply asked to help investigate the scene of Peter's death? Sure Eve probably would have said no, but Nancy would have gotten interested and slipped out with her. At least in that instance there would be someone, almost trustworthy accompanying her, rather than only endangering herself by coming out more or less alone. George was also likely with her, but he had other things to do as well. If it were up to her, she probably would do her best to stick around until she had "gotten to the bottom of it."

Every five seconds, Gio would glance over his shoulder to make sure that dear Bart was still following him. It would do him no good if he managed to get lost so quickly. As he walked, he kept his hands stuffed into his pockets, his right hand clutched tightly around his pocketwatch. Should his charge end up not being in sight when he looked, it would be a mere doddle to activate The Watch and turn back time enough so that he could rectify whatever issue decided to crop up.

"I know it might be difficult, given the situation," Gio called out, offering early pointers for how to compose himself during missions, "But just do your best to relax whenever you're out and about. Getting riled up because of an unrelated event you happen to be around is a good way to end up panicking and making mistakes. A cool head is a rational head."

Atkin Bowman

Location: Palace: Lawn

That bit about not having much to add? Scratch that. Suddenly, Atkin had much to say. Part of him (most in fact) really wanted to just immediately tell off half the people standing in the area, but seeing as he'd just made a right ass of himself and recalling the conversation he'd had shortly before with Valda, he knew the direct approach, while personally gratifying wouldn't get him anywhere. So he took a deep breath, cleared his throat, and did his best to act as courteously as he could manage.

"Um, if you don't mind me buttin' in. You're not seriously just going to decide to kill him, are you? He's a man you pulled off the streets on a hunch, and then intruded in on all his thoughts when you didn't like his first answer. If he really did do all that nasty stuff, he should be locked up. Killin' some bloke because he happens to be on 'the wrong team' so you can scare em into submission is what a gang leader does. Do you want that to be the first thing you do as Queen?"

Nothing about this situation sat particularly right with Atkin. On one hand, what he was engaged in at the moment was fighting on behalf of a serial murder (at best), but he didn't like the precedent any of this set. That you could just get pulled away, deemed unacceptable and just killed for what appeared to be purely political reasons. Any guffaw the leader of the Kidnapped Child Army made about him being an atrocious human being was probably just a facade made to make the actual act acceptable in the eyes of others. Valda might be a witch, but surely she'd be able to see how the actions proposed by Puck could lead down a bad path.

"'Sides, even if he ain't the one who up and whisked away Luna, like you said he probably knows who actually did it. Perhaps he should be moved to the Stranger Chamber for the time being so he can't hurt anyone." But Atkin also knew that moral arguments were a hard sell when the man in question was supposedly an abject filth pile, so he also provided more practical reasons not to go ahead and just off the guy they plucked out simply because she overheard a name. On the Palace lawn with no real idea what your idea what you're doing was not the place or context in which to conduct any kind of shakedown interrogation.
