The Forbidden Door

Welcome to Pemberton Children’s Home, an institute dedicated to looking after and re-homing children who have no where left to go. I am Charles Pemberton and I’d like to show you around.

We mostly take in teenagers as we find that our staff are better suited to look after children of this age range. This is why you are being brought here! We believe we can look after you better than anyone else can. We don’t have many rules here, young one, aside from the usual ‘treat people how you want to be treated’ et cetera. But the one rule I must, must enforce is that this door remains locked at all times. You must not attempt to enter this door. You must not make someone else attempt to enter this door. It is forbidden. You will be happier here if you simply pretend it does not exist.

Ever heard of the saying ‘curiosity killed the cat’? Well, it’s a good rule to live by.

Our excellent team of carers are nuns, so you will refer to them as ‘Sister’ okay? The head nun is referred to as Mother, but I will let her introduce herself when she is ready. I must go now for I am a very busy man, I trust you will remember my rule? Good. I hope you enjoy your stay- this is your home now.

Background: Cassie had a pretty normal life back home. Her family barely scraped by in terms of money and food, but they were happy. Her two younger brothers were always play fighting and when Cassie intervened they would turn on her and they all had great fun. One day Cassie’s uncle was hammering on the door yelling his sister’s name (Cassie’s mother’s name) and three children were sent upstairs but they could hear occasional phrases as voices were raised between the three adults. The next morning Cassie had to say goodbye to her family as it had been decided it was no longer safe for her to stay at home. She travelled with her uncle to Nuxvar and he left her there, promising he would look after her brothers for her.

Personality: Cassandra is loving and loyal- she would do anything to protect those she loves. She has a fiery temper however, and sometimes it gets her into trouble.

“Uuughhhhhh” Amelie groaned as she flailed around, searching for the snooze button on her alarm. She regretted staying up so late watching the season finale of Gossip Girl. There were still two seasons to catch up on, but Amelie resolved to watch them at reasonable times of day- she needed her beauty sleep! She finally hit the snooze when her mum opened her bedroom door slightly and a massive brown blur flew through the gap and bounded on to the bed. “Tandy!” Amelie groaned as she tried to defend her face from being licked. She heard her mum giggle and her footsteps going back downstairs. “It’s not funny!” Amelie yelled. She shoved Tandy off the bed and out of the door, then slammed it. So much for a lie in.

Amelie took a quick shower and brushed her teeth in her ensuite bathroom and threw on a cute, pale pink blouse and some jeans. She applied just a touch of make up and brushed her hair so it could dry naturally. She shoved the stuff she needed into her school bag and made sure she had money for lunch. On her way out of the house she stole a quick sip of her mum’s orange juice and grabbed a pack of breakfast biscuits to eat while she walked. At the kitchen door, she turned around and said “I'm so gonna get you back for that, mum” and fussed Tandy around the ears before leaving for college.

“I can’t wait!” her mother replied, “and get your own juice next time!”

Hmm that's a good point, the only knowledge I have of camp half blood is from watching the Percy Jackson movies but I looked the hunters up and it says they are Artemis' companions- So wouldn't that mean they stay with her?

I think maybe not yet, but it's possible in the future? :)

Name: Alicia Horrell

Appearance:

Usually wears practical clothes as she loves training and running through the forest. Quite often she will be found barefoot as she loves nature and the feel of the ground.

Personality: Being the daughter of Artemis, she has a strong connection with nature and animals, particularly deer. Even though her mother is Goddess of the hunt, Alicia only hunts if she needs to for food, never for sport. Alicia knows the value of patience and rarely gets into arguments if it can be avoided. Cool-tempered, she is a friendly soul and many people find her easy to get along with.

Bio: Alicia’s father was a drunk and eventually she ran away from home. She was young at the time, around 8 years old and decided to explore the city with her newfound freedom. She was discovered by Chiron in a Greek mythology museum when she was found wondering around, reading the Greek writings out loud. Chiron spoke to Alicia’s father and convinced him to let her go to camp half-blood. She has trained there ever since, mastering how to use a bow and how to move silently as if she were hunting. Her favourite thing in the world is running through the forest in the middle of the night, when the moon is at its brightest. This is when she feels free.
