Edwin beat against Dane with his fists. He used his elbows and anything else he could to fight against Dane. "Just get the hell off of me." He gave and received some punches. He would do anything to get away. He knew what the rebels did to guards they captured and wanted no part of it.

Kan looked at Rook to receive her permission before leaving her say and running towards Dane's cries. "I'm coming, Dane! Help is on the way!" Kan ran through the forest guided by Dane's calling. He ran ducking under branches and jumping over logs. He knew his friend needed his help and he was going to help him

Edwin saw the large, bloody man enter the clearing with a wild look in his eyes. Edwin let out a moan of fear. "Who is he? I'll tell you anything...just keep him away from me. Don't let him eat me!"
Edwin threw up his arms as he fell on his face. His short short bounced out of his reach. Finding that he couldn't crawl away, Edwin rolled onto his back and tried to kick at Dane. "Let me go. Why are you still fighting? It's over. Just let me go."

Kan hugged Rook. He was very protective of her. He feared he would never see her again. Rook has taken care of Kan more than once. She was able to protect him and keep him put of trouble. Kan's way of protecting rook was much more direct.

He hugged Rook back. He lifted her light frame into his arms and gave her a affectionate hug. After carefully setting her back on her feet, he knelt at her feet. He pulled out his lucky lock picking tool. He licked it once for luck then started working to unlock Root's shackles. After a few moments, he smiled as he heard the click of the lock opening.
Dane had been too focused on trying to keep the horse from running forward and hadn't even seen Edwin coming until the shield slammed into him. The spearman cursed his own stupidity as his back smacked the snow covered ground and the carriage surged ahead.

He abandoned the spear immediately, knowing it would be of little use to him now. Instead, he grabbed a handful of snow and threw it toward Edwin's eyes while trying to roll the younger man off of him.

"Hey..hey." Edwin yelled at getting snow thrown into his face. The man under him rolled and knocked Edwin off of him. It took him a minute or two to get his arm untangled from the shield and back onto his feet. Edwin drew his sword as he wiped snow from his eyes. Looking around Edwin saw that he was alone. He was the only guardsman around. He told Dane, "You go that way. I'm going this way!" Then he broke and ran away into the forest.

Kan fought and was now tired. Many of the guards saw there was no point in continuing to fight against Kan. The wagon was gone and they had no leadership. At first the guards ran off in one's and two's. Soon enough all of the guards ran off. They had no more fight in them and no desire to continue fighting for the Dark Lord. The fled into the forest.

Kan sat heavily on the ground. He was surrounded by dead guards. His battleaxe, armor and face were bloody. He looked up as he saw Rook and Thaliar approaching. he stood up as quickly as he could, but it wasn't very graceful. He gave the two of them a tired smile. "I'm glad you're safe, Lady. The plan worked good, yes?" He leaned heavily on his battleaxe as he staff of the axe rested on the ground.
Nate counted noses. There were now 5 of them in the hallway. The two girls were cute. He was glad it wasn't going to be a game with all dudes.

"Hi, everybody. I'm Nate and I'm an alcoholic. Wait. Sorry, wrong meeting. I'm Nate."
No! Amine Only!

The guard jumped when Thaliar made himself known. The guard held Rook by her shackled wrist and held his blade against her throat. "Get out of my way, Elf. If I don't bring her back with me, I won't have a family. Lord Octa wants her. You will not deny my Lord his prisoner." The guard didn't know what dark and evil deeds Lord Octa had in plan for her. He only knew that if he failed to bring the prisoner, he would have to replace her in Octa's plans.

That desperation was clearly seen in the guard's eyes.

Kan continued to battle the other guards back at the original ambush site. However, not his battle will play little part in the overall mission success or failure. He fought for his pride and life. The long handle of his battleaxe kept the guards at bay. If they approached to closely, Kan punished them.

The guards were getting tired and they knew that this fight was going to have little effect on taking the prisoners to the fortress. They became less and less eager to attack the large man with his mighty axe.
Sounds fun. I would like to join. I generally play a warrior type. Either a 'heavy fighter' or a 'light fighter' (archer type).
This was young Edwin's first assignment as one of Lord Octa's men-at-arms. He saw one of the raider standing in the middle of the road threatening the wagon's horses with a spear. With a mighty war cry of "Hail Octa!" Edwin charged the raider with his large shield in front of himself. He ran into the raider, knocking him off balance and pushing him off of the road. The road was now clear and the wagon bolted.

On the side of the road, Edwin fell on top of the raider, knocking the wind out of both Edwin and the raider.

Kan heard Thaliar's command. This is what Kan was good at and and he loved doing. Kan raised his battleaxe over his head with both arms and roared at Octa's troops, "I will kill you all!" He swung his battleaxe killing another guard, But then he was forced to use the staff of his axe to parry the attacks of two soldiers. Even while parrying the attacks, Kan kicked and stomped on the men attacking him. He continued to bellow at the enemy soldiers. He was drawing a crowd to himself.
Kan Ironhead waited in the tree. He held his crossbow at the ready. He knew the plan and what to do. They very carefully told Kan that he had to wait for the wagon to pass under him before attacking. He knew that Rook was held prisoner in the cage. His blood was boiling. He wanted nothing more than to shoot the bolt into the wagon driver's eye. But he must wait... Waiting was hard for Kan.

He held his breath as the wagon and it's guards passed under him. None of them looked up. Nobody ever looks up. He waited..

There! The signal was given. Kan shot his bolt into the rear guard's back. Then he jumped from the tree pulling his large battleaxe off of his back. "It's a rescue! It's a rescue!" He swung his mighty battleaxe with both hands, killing another surprised guard. Rook, Kan is coming!
Not finding anything else, Nate decided that the desk had to hold the clue to opening the lock. In one of the drawers of the desk he found a crumpled up paper. It was hard to read the chicken scratching that somebody called writing. But it seemed to say:

It all counts, from the dolls to the combs to the pink hair ribbons. Even the stars in the night sky count.

He looked at the desk. There was a pair of dolls on the desk. "Ok.. 2 dolls." He counted the little combs, "4 combs". he looked and looked but could only find one pink ribbon. "1 ribbon." Looking up, he saw five stars painted on the ceiling. It had to be th five pointed starts and not just the white dots. "5 stars".

He went over to punch in 2 4 1 5 into the lock. he smiled when he heard the click and the door open.

He stepped out into the hall, a little disappointed with himself when he saw he wasn't the first one out.
