Shit, I actually need to post now

It's too late.

It was always too late.
Quite a lot of people had popped up in the time she'd been waiting. While she hadn't been the first arrival, the Acolyte could be counted among the first in this group to see the Gate. It wasn't much- just a little something from the oriental side of the world. It was both interesting and surprising that such a thing had caused so much fuss among the community.

Countless games have existed since their creation decades ago. It was only natural that legends and rumors about various secrets, glitches, and wonders would start to pop up. This had continued from the "cursed" ROM hacks of a bygone era to more modern VR games with rumored secret zones accessible to only a select few. Emilie took a moment to think about the various rumors that came up on the forums here and there. Certainly, the NPC next to the Gate had her attention more than the mon itself. Said rabbit was of course, shamelessly shilling a product. That gave her plenty of time to think about this new campaign and its implications.

However, in this specific case- A red mon? The devs weren't trying to attract more Taiwanese stop motion cartoon fans again, were they? It really didn't help revitalize the game or community the last time they pulled this stunt.

"Do they plan on wasting all their revenue again? That market was saturated long before WEO existed. " There were plenty of stock generic jrpg fantasy VRMMOs. Even if she had a refined appreciation for it, eastern myth didn't really belong in this particular worlds lore.

"I suppose it's nothing if the Campaign World is different. It'd be cool to see it ahead of everyone else."

Thankfully, the mention of "Conquest of the New World" regained her excitement in very short order. If it wasn't just corporate jargon, this could be good. They'd be like Conquistadors and true adventurers in a foreign land. With that premise in mind, she was positively beaming by now. This could be very fun, and hopefully done properly. The Acolyte skimmed through the EULA and accepted the terms with an expression that projected her excitable mood.

This was weird, though. They were essentially beta testers for a future expansion. That's what made sense. So then, why were they just signing a EULA? There should've been an NDA too. It was a question Emilie would need to keep in mind for the future. There was something shady about this, anyone could see that, but that was something to work with.

That aside, there was no doubt that "Riske" would jump on the chance to play the new expansion with her. Instead of taking the time to ask a dumb question, she took out the standard player book issued to all avatars. Within a few moments, she was quickly scanning the pages and examining the profiles(if public) of each and every person present. It didn't take long. "No edgy monks with a twenty thousand word bio. That was painless enough."

She stretched, before taking another look at the group gathered around the gateway. There were more than a few interesting ones and one or two rather famous faces. Weber rather liked the look of things on this end of the gate, even if none of them were really RP heavy. Of course, a few were bullying the rabbit. Given that you could buy NPCs for that express (unsaid)purpose in-game, she didn't see fit to waste her time on something like that. Rather than a very suspicious NPC, she was more interested in the various PCs.

Skuld pointed upward with her right hand. A white flare shot up with a whoosh, exploding with rather a tame bang. She called to everyone in the group who wasn't currently occupied.

"Would anyone want to be my ally while exploring this new world? We'll be far stronger as companions!"

Name: Emilie Weber
Age: 34
Gender: Female
Personality: Extroverted and enthusiastic, Emile has issues with spending time all on her lonesome. She has a unique interest in collectibles, eastern culture, technology, and various games. As a result, she hasn't really had a large circle of real world friends since vocational school. Being zealous about her hobbies, Emilie usually prefers to interact with people who have shared interests. Having lived long enough to be called a true adult, she is rather understanding of peoples nature and faults. As a result Emilie is considered to be a warm person by many of her friends, offline or online. Genuinely adores her daughter more than anything else in the world.

Background: Emilie was born in eastern Germany decades after the Walls fell- An event her elderly parents barely remember today. Raised in an upper middle class family, she has since fallen into harder times because of relationship issues. Though unplanned her daughter Amelia is the star of her life. Being a active community member Emilie spends a great deal of time on the forums producing content, assisting newcomers, and helping the community prosper. Before her daughter started playing with her she led a Thieves Guild on her main character, a Lady Thief. To support the game developers she buys a lot of cash shop cosmetics. As she is a very heavy roleplayer, the cosmetics certainly help set a tone and mood for her various characters.

Ingame Name: Skuld
Ingame Personality: Emilie is a roleplayer first and foremost, and so her ingame character is usually rather divorced from her normal self. Skuld is a character meant to be a great Prophet- a preacher of a new faith. With the worlds end fast approaching, preparations must be made for the Twilight of the Gods and the great deluge and unceasing fires that will wipe away the world tree. She is motherly, calm, and yet firm in her actions. They turn the other cheek, but have a righteous wrath when necessary. Her heart and actions are utterly unclouded, and she works to spread her teachings to save humanity. They may even seem ruthless to some.

...This character was created when Emilie got in a certain mood about Joan of Arcadia after playing a certain eastern mobile game. That was just the initial inspiration though, and so she avoided a warrior saint or flag bearer. This is the sort of character intended to conquer the world with Love, not petty arms.

Class: Acolyte
Notable Skills:
  • Heal - Negates moderate wounds and injuries on a single target. It's a ranged heal, but efficiency increases if used at touch range. The standard fare for almost any build leading into Priest. Honestly quite useful even far into the end game.
  • Consecrate - Grants Holy attribute to weapons, objects, and projectiles in addition to increasing their capabilities. Outside of combat it can be used to bless locations. Naturally, many Guild Halls and Players with homes purchase this as a service.
  • Inspired Presence - When WEO decided to try their hand at dialogue wheels in one of the many larger expansions, the results were lackluster to say the least. This now partially defunct quest skill opened up a few dialogue choices and prevented a few fights in certain quest lines(Which were rather easy in the first place). A useless skill, it is meant to represent the divine Magnetism and Charisma of the Faithful.

Equipment:

  • (Weapons) - Holy Rod, Divine Scripture, Pocket Scripture
  • (Armour) - Blessed Robes
  • (Survival) - Scholar's Pack
  • (Trinkets and Baubles) - Spirit Ring, Rosary

Cosmetics:

  • Pets - Four little Valkyries who fly about- notorious for their cuteness within the community. They cannot attack or be attacked, but they can move around objects or give other players messages. She has a multitude of skins for them(of varying rarity and value)- currently they look like cherubim.
  • Effects Opal - An item that stores cosmetic effects bought from the cash shop. This is only granted if you've purchased(or traded for) and kept an obscene number of effects. Can create well crafted cosmetic effects like an aura of flame, or enveloping darkness.
  • The Ring of Change - A toe ring created by a developer with very dubious tastes. It divorces your characters appearance from the equipment they're wearing and using. An excellent tool for roleplaying. However they were only distributed to well recognized community members after the original forum was accidentally deleted by a janitor.
  • Bridal Dress of Freya Set - Otherwise known as the Celestial Dress, it's a skin set for the standard Archbishop robes that are worth several hundred American dollars total. As Arcana class clothing, it's in the tier for most expensive(and generally prettiest) of all cosmetics. Don't let the name fool you, it doesn't actually do anything.

@Denduris

We certainly can!

Though we have dark work ahead of us, we must prevail in it or die trying.

Dark work being grinding for more skills.
