Just don't make it too overpowered.

That would be yet another concern of mine, as I'm not sure how much I trust myself to make Pyandonea appropriately powered. Out of the very little lore one can find on them, only two things are really mentioned- the fact that they have an inarguably dominant navy and their ability to manipulate and even ride giant sea-serpents. Both of those attributes already seem to be overpowered, so I'd need to implement some serious balancing.

ROLEPLAYING. :D

You certainly have a point, though I generally try to pick nations/characters/ideologies that I identify/sympathize with to some extent. Anyway, if can't pull off Pyandonea well enough, I'll get over my dislike of the Thalmor and pick up Alinor.

Sadly it does seem those are the only spots left, though Maormer do look pretty badass. Still if you were to take Alinor, you could probably take that suggestion I made some time ago and find a way to oust the Thalmor. after all not all high Elves are that stuck up, nor do they all share their point of view. (in fact allot of the High elves you meet outside that faction are some of the nicer folks, when compared to allot of dark elves)

You bring up a good point on both accounts, and I suppose I do have a few options with either nation. Anyway, thanks for the input, I'll probably decide which nation-state I'll go with before too long and submit a sheet shortly thereafter.
I'm certainly interested in joining this, but there does seem to be a bit of an issue. The only available spots seem to be Orsinium, Alinor, and Pyandonea, and the former two don't really pique my interest. In light of this Pyandonea seems to be the only viable remaining option, unless I were to RP within someone else's nation.

My one issue with Pyandonea is the fact that they've been rather absent in Elder Scrolls lore, and it may be hard to justify their sudden interest in continental politics. The main justification I could conjure up would be their interest in the formation of the Aldmeri Dominion once again, though this seems rather basic. If I can't think of anything else, I might just take the helm of Alinor, despite the fact that I'm sure the levels of hostility towards them is presently great and I've never really agreed with their goals.
Theo, this isn't really something that needs to be discussed any further. I'm not here to proclaim which is better, and I've already expressed why I prefer a lack of stats. You obviously prefer having stats in your RPs and believe that they benefit the RP, and that's fine. I don't, and I was just asking if they were present to see if this was something I could get into and enjoy, not to encourage a conversation about the merits and/or detrements of stats in RPs.

You haven't provided an argument, you just stated why you didn't like something. I don't like taxes, but I'm paying them.Hard stats take subjectivity out of the equation. When my troops go against yours, it becomes a muddled "Well my troops are pretty good," and "Well mine have been training for such and such years."Stats are a hardline reference from all players find a baseline to remove any issue of hurt feelings and gives a valid base from which to grow.

Correct, I don't like them. I'm not really trying to get into an argument at all. As I said (verbatim) ultimately, it's just a matter of personal preference.

Stats are a good concrete measurement of objectivity. Why are people so opposed to them?

In my opinion, their too impersonal and game-like to work with the standard forum RP. A properly Role-played character or nation is more complex than any amount of stats or skills can express, and I personally dislike being limited in my ability to role-play my character as I see fit by a sequence of representative numbers.

Ultimately, it's just a matter of personal preference. I myself don't enjoy RPing with stats, but I know that quite a few others do. In the case of a NRP, a good alternative that was used on the Bethesda Forum was getting a general vote in the OOC for the outcome of a situation. If I may use a battle for an example, assuming there is no absolutely clear victor, each participant would present their battleplans on the OOC and the non-biased RPers for the situation would democratically decide the outcome. Alternatively, each participant in the battle would PM their battleplans to the GM (or preferably a small go up of Co-GMs, to keep things more fair) and the GM(s) would decide the outcomes themselves.

In things other than battle, it's usually enough to just have everyone do whatever they want in the IC until someone protests someone's actions in the OOC. After the issue is brought up, a popular or GM vote ensues and a decision is made (usually in the form of a nerf). Anyway, those are just a couple of suggestions for alternatives to stats and the like.

Stats are quite important in this game. They determine how strong the skills at your disposal are, but not only that. On a daily basis, stats will play an important role in how well you can cope with your surroundings. For instance, a person with high Luck and Sanity will find it easier to orientate in the Lost Part, which is a forest labyrinth. In another situation, a person with a high Agility stat will find that balancing while walking in Orange Summer and on a hoverboard is a breeze. As mentioned on the site, Sanity is an important stat when it comes to detecting danger, whilst Psyche accounts for all magical abilities. I hope I gave you the answer you were looking for ^ ^Also, I would like you two newcomers to look through the Int. Che. In the past two pages I have cleared some things out, which might otherwise be confusing. To everyone who still have not receive a response from me through PM, I'm sorry ^ ^" I'm working on it. Really!

Ah, in that case I'll have to retract my interest for this RP. It is nothing against the RP itself, as I really do enjoy the idea, it's just that I've never been able to get into RPs that have stats within them. Anyway, good luck with the RP, I hope it takes off. :D
Assuming no stats are involved, I'd be interested. My availability would depend on the success of another RP idea, however.
Though this seems to be a bit less gritty and certainly more out-there than my regular RPs, I'm still extremely interested by the concept. I'll most likely make both a Key and Human CS, though I still have a bit more to read-up on before I get started.

Edit: Actually, I have a question already. How important are stats in this RP, both within combat and in other situations?

You really don't have to go too crazy with it.

I have the bad habit of making my sheets rather extensive and comprehensive- overtly so, in some cases. If I'm to be honest, it's more for my benefit than anything else. I like having a library of history from the beginning that I can reference as I RP, as it seems to keep me more collected and focussed. Don't worry about the lengthy read though, I'll include a summary.

Edit: You know what, scratch what I previously said. I'll draft another, shorter sheet so that I can get into the action quicker and not burden others with post-length. I'll keep the longer-length sheet for a mostly personal info-sheet, which I believe another RPer (Villageidiotx, perhaps) suggested on this thread a few pages back.
