Aliquam: Academy of the Arts

Everything was just grand and Like Syed and Trixie, Lucien took it all in with wide eyes and an even wider grin.

"Dylan, this place is fancy!" He peered this way and that, like an excited child at a toy store. The building was massive and as they got closer things just got better. There were all sorts of artwork scattered around the courtyard and each and every one was beautiful in its own way. Who knew schools could be so awesome? Lucien followed after his friends in silence, just taking it all in.

One painting in particular caught his attention and he snickered as he peered at the sad looking human. "This is so good."

"Everyone is really talented," Xan appeared beside him and gave the painting a long look. She had never seen anything like this in her home town, it was beautiful.

Dylan reappeared with a girl who looked like him and soon he was introducing her as his sister.

"It's a pleasure to meet you." Lucien chirped.

Xan nodded, a smile plastered onto her face. "It's great to meet you...this place is just incredible."

Dalia asked them if they wanted to see anything in particular and while Lucien mentioned paintings, Xan was content with seeing whatever the others wanted to look at. Wherever they went she was sure it'd be amazing.
I'll post after Kathi-chan!

I'm looking forward to this as well (^w^)/
The Coral Pearl

It was chaos, absolute chaos.

Nolan was just about to fire another round when he was tackled to the ground by an angry Kai. It took him a few moments to understand that he was being scolded, it was hard to concentrate on his shipmate's words when their were guns going off at every second. He could hear loud explosions, curses, and the sound of steel on steel. The life of a pirate was so different from his life back home. For a few moments he simply stared at Kai with wide eyes, it was only when the man began to walk off that he managed to say anything at all.

"Yessir!" Nolan leaped to his feet and was just about to scramble after his gun but before he could do so, Ray ran up the gangplank and suggested they fire a cannon ball at the docks. That was a good idea, it would give them enough time to escape and they wouldn't have to hurt anyone.

There was a gunshot, followed by the captain's pained his. Nolan's eyes grew as wide as saucers and he stared slack-jawed, frozen in time. GODS, was she alive? She rose to her feet and suggested that they leave. "That sounds like a very good idea!" The cogs and gears inside his head were spinning overtime and he dashed towards the storage room. Nolan ran out with a cannonball under each arm then passed them to Ray as swiftly as he could. "We should leave before things get worse, this'll buy us some time."

Luro began talking about how he was going to kill the sniper. Nolan really wanted them to just leave and set sail. He loaded up the canon then picked up his fallen rifle. The cook scrambled towards the captain's side and stood in front of her with a defensive stance. "Just lay low Runa...guys, the faster we leave, the faster I can patch up her shoulder, we don't want it to get infected."

They made it up the hillside, but the sight that greeted them was anything but comforting.

These were trained soldiers, mages, and archers and they were getting brushed aside by a flick of the dragon's tail or a flap of its wings. How were they supposed to fight that? Perhaps, getting the amulet on its neck was the only answer. If they fought this thing head on, then they would die. More soldiers began charging at the thing only to have a tree snap behind them. The fallen tree pinned them to the ground and the dragon, with another flap of its mighty wings, sent up clouds of dust.

Harper shielded his eyes as wind whipped at his clothes and and face. As soon as the dust had faded the dragon was out of sight.

How could something so big move so fast? There was a scream, the dragon had landed beside a couple of swordsmen. The troops charged with their swords raised but the dragon merely flicked them off the mountain with a swing of its tail.

Bright lights began to tear through the ground as they made their way towards the dragon. At first, Harper thought it was something else and he spun around only to see that Jasper was the source. The lights made their way towards the dragon and he stared in awe as scratches began appearing on the mighty beast's scales. "Way to go Jasper!" The dragon yowled as it sent more dust flying through the air, It was becoming incredibly hard to see and trees began to snap in half, sending debris and rocks flying all around.

Soldiers were falling left and right and Tobias was yelling something about standing firm and focusing on defense.

Riley squinted her eyes and peered down the mountainside. However, instead of seeing injured men yelling for a medic, she saw dazed soldiers floating on fluffy cloud beds. Did the little brat actually come back to help them or something? Feh, maybe that thing wasn't so bad.

"Hakuren, Leon, do you think you can get one of us up there?" Harper was staring at the dragon, it had once again taken to the skies.

"Men! Who has the amulet?" Tobias had pulled open a scroll and was reading something in an indecipherable language. A great breeze came from within the scroll and the dust clouds were blown away.

One of the archers raised a hand. "I have--" but before he could finish his sentence the dragon's eyes fell on him. "HOLY CELERY!" The man turned around to run but before he knew it the dragon swooped in and grabbed him with it's mighty claws. The green amulet fell from the sky and fell with a thump onto Ace's head.

"Ace, good job!" Riley gave the redhead two thumbs up before she turned to look at Inadi and the others. "Guys, what if we annoyed it and got it to land then windy and frosty could get someone up there...I mean," she frowned. "It's obvious we can't beat the thing."

"Riley's right," Harper stared at their amulets. All of them were low on magic, and none of them had had a proper break. "If we keep attacking, our amulets will run out of power" He stared at his own gem, the liquid was down to one fourth the original content. "We'll need to use our magic carefully and come up with a plan. Hakuren," Harper was no longer the timid boy they all knew, at this point he was dead serious. "That means no flowery attacks, we only need what's necessary, or we will die."

The temperature rose seven-fold and another invincible force brought them all to their knees.

The mountain shook and their bodies suddenly felt twice as heavy. Riley winced but pushed forward. "Ugh, let's end this as quickly as we can!" Flames began to dance around her arms. "Maybe we can hit it in the face. Les, you're great at grabbing attention, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon!"

Harper rushed towards Ace and yanked the redhead by the arm. "Let's get to higher ground, Leon, you're coming with us." The trio began scrambling higher up the mountain side as the dragon rained blue fire upon Mt. Zul.

"No matter what, hold onto that amulet."

"It sucks that Lisette and Kapi are leaving," Lucien had his head on the table, cheek pressed against his empty tray.

Xan sighed. "It can't be helped, it seems really important."

"I know, I know, but it takes everyone to make the Pride, y'know?" He pushed himself out of his seat, hoping to get a glass of water, but a new revelation stopped him in his tracks, Selan and Don would be leaving too. "Wait what?" The summoner watched as Don began to yell. He had made a choice and while it was initially shocking, in the end it made a lot of sense, he had always been head-over-heels in love with Selan. Lucien battled a frown, saying goodbye to three people in one day, he hadn't been expecting that.

Don began to give them all a speech before he and Trixie shared an embrace.

Xan smiled at the scene. She hadn't known them for very long, but what she did know was that they were great people. It was sad, having to part ways with them. Things would be very different without Lisette's cheerfulness, Selan's calm suggestions, and Don's antics, but they'd soldier on and when the time was right they'd all see each other again. "Take care out there and Don, don't get any of those two into trouble."

Soon enough several guilders had their eyes on the pride.

"Don't worry about us," Lucien mustered up a grin and gave Don a thumbs up. "I'll help Dylan look after everyone and remember the boss can handle anything. When you guys return, we'll have a ton of awesome tales to tell you, so there'll be that to look forward to, yeah?"

Selan suggested a celebration and Lucien waved a hand at the nearest waiter. "Waiter! All the ice cream we can eat on me!"

“To the Pride!”

With a smile, Xan raised a glass of juice in the trio's direction. These people really were something and she looked forward to the challenges and everything that was to come.

Atlas who had been lingering in the background made his way towards the others. "You three stay safe, alright?" He placed a hand on Lute's shoulder and gave them a grin. "The least I can do is the pay the bill. You all did great back at Thaum." The magician wasn't one for words, but it was pretty much his way of thanking them. They were swell people. The guy with the sunglasses and jacket, he made a bit of a scene but it was a touching one. It was clear they all cared for each other deeply and he couldn't help but wish them the best.
