My thoughts on:

A reboot.

Definitely not opposed, though I just got here. Changes would have to be made.

Sparks.

Again, I just got here but I think he got fed up with all the 'fleshing out' of everything, which applied structure where he wanted none. Focus was taken away from PC's and put on the conflict of empires and nations. I think my character was the last straw as I needed to ask him about relics, their history, and the Old Kingdom to make my character function. I imagine trying to have him apply a specific backstory to the one thing that was never supposed to be known pushed him over the edge, and I feel terrible.

Invasion.

Yes, this should very much happen at some point, but not at all the way it went. These are merely my opinions, but I believe the invasion was terrible. It was portrayed as an unstoppable steamroller of fuck you, with every attempt to stop it only making it worse. We can debate realism all we want but a satisfying siege to play in SHOULD NOT work that way. Losing is fine, but it should really feel like the attackers have to work their asses off to do it. Sure, you lost, but look how long you held them off? you gave it your best shot. This makes the PC feel a lot better if the defense they participated in had any backbone, as well as letting everyone know how badass the attackers are for having won. It cost them, but they did it. I would also argue that it not be mandated that loss is just a thing that will happen no matter what, but whatever.

Realism.

I disagree with Ellri tremendously on this point. There needs to be a balance, extreme realism (magic aside) is as boring and bullshit as chainmail bikinis. A good medium between looking cool and being functional. Even if crossbows would realistically be unavailable, goddamnit, their cool. I think detail really fleshes out a story but we cannot get too caught up in it.

Old Blood.

Bad idea. It implies that the wielder of the relic is just born that way, as opposed to being special because the relic chose them. My relic found me, out of everyone in the world, to be the one person worthy of wielding its power, that's badass. "Oh, my Great Great Great Great Great Great Great uncle was a king" isn't as cool.

GM.

I'd pick Alida, but she doesn't want to do it. Ellri is smart as hell, dedicated, but I think lacks the... charisma. Not that I'm suggesting myself! I am NO GOOD at the GM dance. However, I only really know Ellri, so I pick them (they? Are you multiple people or do you just prefer an odd pronoun?) Now, I'm kind of a dick, I'm sorry but I'm just speaking my mind.

I took issue with a lot of things as the RP was very different than what reading the OP led me to believe, so I freaked the fuck out when things started going the way they did, and I am eternally ashamed of my tantrum.

Now, this begs the question: how to fit my character in?

Or it means that your OOC posts are actually read while mine aren't? :'D

Alaira Taenn

Alaira sat in her room, her face grim as she stared at her mother's armor. It gleamed, the pink surface perfectly polished. She sighed, her rehabilitation was not yet complete, and yet she was chosen for this mission. She hadn't been able to wear her armor, she was just too sluggish. Instead, she had only been able to polish it every day in the hopes that it would be in perfect condition when the time finally came to wear it. But, she couldn't take it. She looked down, and sighed at her meager armor, a leather design reinforced with Steel pauldrons and various plates. She looked to the corner, her beloved lance scarred and pitted from the terrible acid of the creature. She had been unable to smith, and so couldn't restore her weapon, and she would be damned if she would let anyone else do it. So she carried different gear, a shield and a mace, plus a bow. Normally she wouldn't need a bow, her abilities let her close the distance fast enough for range not to matter, but she had been sluggish.

Then there was Lyn. She couldn't take Lyn anywhere, in her state she wasn't sure if she could protect the girl. But her parents were also going on a mission of their own, an actual manhunt. She couldn't let Lyn go with them, and neither could her parents. She didn't trust Tyrael, legitimately fearing he would eat her or something. Uicle was no babysitter, Khan was sick, Lidda was overworked enough with the wounded, Sam was a similar case, but with old age on top of it, anyone else she trusted in the slightest was going on a mission or dead. That left one reasonable goddamn person she had met, ever, and while she didn't really trust the vampire too much she doubted Lucilia would harm a small child. So, she left Lyn with Lucilia (Put Lyn on her desk, slapped a large pouch of gold coins down, and said "Watch her." Didn't stick around long enough for the vampire to argue...), and was on her way to meet up with the others.

She arrived at the predetermined point, Ssarak and the Monastery girl were already waiting. She caught a fair bit of their conversation before she made her presence known. She laughed, hefting her mace over her shoulder. "Djarkel's a fun place, no shortage of scum that needs killin'. Great tavern brawls too, sometimes I'd just walk into one and start throwing punches when I got bored..." She reminisced, her days as a wandering mercenary were some of the best memories she had. " 'Course, some don't see it that way, and I say screw 'em. There's nothing like a little blood and carnage to get the blood pumpin', 'specially if they deserve it.." She listened, they were fighting demons? She hadn't attended the meeting, instead taking the time to entertain Lyn... At the mention of demons, all the joy was drained from her face, replaced with cold anger. "Who the hell cares what they want? They show up, we crush 'em. They come back, we crush 'em again, and again, and again, until they stop."
Apologies, life has been shittier than usual for me. But Kuzco never fails to cheer me up. writan now.
Calling it now, the Empress is a Decepticon.

Crossbows = nono because someone wanted knights in shiny armor. There's no central church here with the power that the church had in the middle ages, so there's no authority that could issue same ban on heavy crossbows that was issued in the middle ages. Without such a ban, all those noble knights in their expensive (and shiny) plate armor will find themselves pin-cushioned by the companies of easily trained crossbowmen. In the middle ages, crossbows ended up banned because the nobles found themselves awfully vulnerable to such weapons and convinced the church to ban them.If wearing heavy armor (especially like Markul), arrows have to strike just right to cause harm, if the angle is wrong, they ping off plate armor. Crossbows have slightly shorter range, but more force, so they perforate thicker armor. thus, wherever you mentioned that bit about markul not being affected by arrows Freeshooter, we didn't react, because it made some sense. You could probably have him react in the future, even if it is only in irritation at how harmless they are to him.

Right, but a normal person would still be staggered by the force of the things, Marky barely flinched.

yup, freeshooter. That bit you suggested on #2 makes sense. (see? we're not always opposed to ya...)pyramids are, as sep said, more structurally sound. But they're not optimal when it comes to walls or optimal use of land area. But even in walls, the same principles are occasionally used. Having a slight slope on the walls makes them considerably harder to break down. The more noticeable the slope, the easier to scale. But of course, medieval architects solved that too. They had a slight slope at the lower parts, then a nice little overhang at the top, negating the scaling advantage the slope gave, and then some.Besides, even when building a square building, it can be a pyramid. But we know what you meant. We just had to say that bit. We suspect that the reason for the "toe" part in the toe ring is to conceal the relic. But we'd think that should anyone capture her and know she's an evoker, the suspicious ring around the toe is the first to be checked. Not the clearly worthless ring on one finger. Face it, everyone can feasibly end up being captured. Had we wanted to hide a ring relic, we'd have put several other objects in places that are of varying levels of curious placement. Not to mention, on toe ring... unless we're sorely mistaken, a ring in a place like a toe will chafe the wearer. Especially if (s)he is walking a lot. Shoes in the middle ages (even for the rich) were not all that good. Adding a metal object inside them wouldn't help for comfort.

I know armor... Also, I feel like mentioning this but the reason Markul didn't really react to the arrows is because his armor is much thicker than a normal person's and protects more. However, it is much heavier, taking full advantage of his Relic-enhanced strength
But if it was really important surely sparks would have noticed in the CS and told her about it?
Also, why are crossbows not a thing? If a near invincible siege dome can be designed to be near invincible AND light enough to be carried by a couple rhinos (let alone make up for the hilarious material costs and whatever bullshit went into actually making it), someone can figure out the crossbow.
