I'm pretty sure the gods don't want to keep being cocks I am more so sure they are just being gods. Gods are assholes. When you are charged with the entirety of the world and perhaps beyond it is very hard to make everyone happy let alone keep order through just means. Just look at the real world for example. Us humans are greedy, if someone kind comes along we will consume and abuse them till they are depleted, it's human nature. We do cruel things to others so out lives can be better. If humans are like that then try adding a dozen other sentient species to the world. If you are a kind hearted god you will be consumed and abused, you will be drained of your energies because everyone is using you to further themselves. But if you are a mix of kind and cruel your energies life span has increased ten fold

No, I've talked with fallen about it before. They don't give a shit about the world, they're assholes.

That would imply the ursurpers are of nobility. Those who get to lead is whom ever kills the previous holder; while nobility is most likely, but even a peasant and his family could become the new leader if he's smart enough to kill off all others who challenge him.Plus, election is a bit of a stretch when the means to chose new leaders are basically controlled rebellions.

Only in IGNIS. Yes, families are in control, yes I guess it would be an aristocracy. But calling it such would lead to aesthetic differences that I could not tolerate. i.e, that tends to remind people of the victorian era, of which there is nothing in RUNE influenced by such. UMBRA's aesthetic is more akin to an odd combination of Russia, with uniforms borrowed from nazi germany. it may be the case that the family rules, but generally only the most useful members ever get anything resembling power.

One: you don't know how old that prologue is...it could be 100-30,000 years from this time. Two: At some point it will happen as it allows magic to regenerate and grow stronger the next time. Right now, Tech vs Magic is more a balance to keep the Gods from being over ran by mortals. Three: Each time this cycle happens, it lasts longer so at some point it could be a permanent thing.

Ah, I see. So, to win we must accomplish this: Convince the gods to stop being cocks. Our chances do not look great.

I have arrived! And completely forgot my original character!Oh well.SIREN IT IS!

Considering your character was a dwarf I think, you have successfully made exactly the opposite. Well done!

Name: Dirae (Die-ray)

Alright, first some neat little facts about Sirens that don't have anything to do with your character, but are cool nonetheless.

1. The Siren capital city exists in an alternate dimension, to access it one must simply visit one of the six Siren villages (one on every continent) and be allowed entry.
2. Sirens from the capital tend to be susceptible to diseases and toxins, as they live in an environment free of those things. It's a great excuse if anyone asks about the mask.
3. Sirens are not any less susceptible to sonic attack, but it is a common myth that sound-based things have little effect on them.
4. Ah, I forgot to mention ages in various racial profiles. Sirens age similarly to how Lyn does (Up to twenties, then stops). They live to be around 400 years on average before they succumb to age.

Next, a point or two on gods:

1. Gods can't get drunk. Adon was just being a cock. he does that.
2. Those with divine blood are no more powerful than those without. While you can get oddities, this isn't Greece, having god as your dad does not make you Hercules. Luckliy, she isn't significantly stronger than others, well done.
3. As Greece however, gods do tend to get bored and start having babies with mortals for the lulz. Yes, they do it on purpose, no they have nothing better to do. In fact, gods don't have much direct influence. Feel special, Auna likely used all the power she had for a year just to make Dirae miserable.

And finally, the one problem I have:

There isn't much in the way of prejudice in RUNE I'm afraid. The only exception is NOVA and Demons/Devils. In fact, NOVA would be awfully hospitable since she is a daughter of their deity. Servants of Auna however? they wouldn't much care for her. Maybe a workaround for the mask is she doesn't want all the baggage that comes with being half-divine? I can't imagine she would very much like temples locking her up in the name of 'keeping her safe,' or for Auna's followers to find her. But the public at large wouldn't be inclined to give a shit.

Aside from that well done! That's a great way to write a divine character.

Also, is the dragon modeled after a particular dragon? The thing about dragons is only twenty four exist, and they may as well be demigods in terms of power. There's three in each continent, and I'll give descriptions later. Actually, there's twenty three. One turned itself undead, chopped it's arm off, and replaced it with an excavating drill.

InterestedEdi: Btw, pretty sure Umbra is an Aristocracy.

Oligarchy, rule by the elite few. The thing is, the other family can just decide they don't like you and murder you in public, siezing power.

The Nords just resent magic users because they believe it is more honorable to fight with a sword, axe, mace or bow. It's not that they want to murder them all it's just they have little respect for them. Save for those who are trained in restoration magic, they have respect for them as shown in the temple of Kynerath. And also its different for necromancers, they have the idea of "they all need to die" when it comes to necromancers

I object! Err, agree.
Also, I dub this international 'khan is having a really shitty day' day.

Maybe magic and technology could go hand-in-hand and live long and prosper. Isn't that what you students are suppose to ensure happens?

The problem is not that we could fail to bring about such a perfect world, the problem is that because of the prologue, we will. I hate more than anything being flat out told 'fuck you, you lose.' as opposed to 'in all probability you will fucking lose.' Because a tiny, tiny smidgen of hope would be appreciated. I guess my only comparison is dungeons and dragons. No matter how difficult the roll, no matter the stakes, a 20 is always a hit, always a success. Sure, 1/20 odds is godawful and I will probably lose, but that tiny little chance drives me forward, rather than making me give up because of the sheer futility. I won't mind if that doesn't work out, but just pre-determining things leaves a lot of efforts pointless. Hell, I'd at least appreciate the illusion of chance.

Unlikely as it main function is to teach students about their magic and usually Ren interferes some times when too much of the past is discovered. The thing about Demons, other then special ones like Khan's, they aren't souls at all but rather Evlis/Sins of them which are separated at time of death. Which the Demon might have echoing memories of their past lives, as Lucius said it's not reliable including the way they keep stuff and most don't even remember their lives before the Inferno. That's the way I understood it when he explained it. So it's unlikely Demonomancers would learn of the history and objects of the past were destroyed by the nukes and Gods. Keep in mind, the past is repeating itself again. If humans and other races discover modern tech too fast, magic fades and disappears. Look at what has happened to the Ancient magic... In the last 200 years it was as common as the others but with the rediscovery of the book, a few tech advantages and so, the magic is pushed out as a result. That's why the man in the prologue hadn't heard of the College... At that point, the magic has faded enough because people no longer depend on it. :P

That seems ridiculous. Wouldn't the fusion of magic and technology be much more likely? I can think of all sorts of ways that could happen, people using objects and whatnot to focus their magic power, and meanwhile runes can provide for the common people. Techs existence just causing magic to suffer critical existence failure is nonsense (People not knowing they can? alright. people suddenly being unable to cast because someone invented indoor plumbing somewhere? stupid). But, yeah a stubborn adherence to the old ways could cause magic to sputter and die like I imagine it happened the first time, but if mages and whatnot were willing to look into ways to synergise and move forward, they would be able to preserve their art. Vitamancy alone is vastly superior to all modern medicine, and almost all of the other magics are superior in their intended purpose to modern means. Just magic fading away seems like a waste.
