Kai chuckled, "There is no need to thank me for the name, its my dad and ma that gave it to me." He then heard the added question. He actually considered the proposition of being called Sir Kai for a second-before the smart part of his brain told him that his head was getting too big for his shoulders. "Nah, Kai is just fine."
Kai grinned when Simon voiced the idea of a mystery adventure. It did sound exciting to him and challenging both of which were very appealing. The other thing that occurred to him as he talked with Simon was that he didn't think of the guy as a stranger, really. Maybe it was his easygoing and polite manner, or something unexplainable. Whatever it was, Kai definitely considered the guy his friend.
As they continued on their way, Kai respectly kept silent at Simon's reassurance about the Hospital and mention of the cupcakes. Good to know that I guess, but I'm not afraid of getting lost there and cupcakes are alright, but I'm not a big fan. He would of mentioned his thoughts aloud but he was concerned about disappointing Simon and he didn't think it was a worthwhile thing to mention if that was the only result.
He was about to say something when Simon decided to open up about his family. It was a little tough to hear about someone his age take care of his family all on their own. The other thing about it was that Kai could tell that it was uncomfortable for Simon to even talk about it, and it made Kai feel a little guilty for letting it happen.
Then he got offered a hug, he felt a little awkward but after a few moments thought, "Sure." he replied.
After the hug and maybe about ten minutes later, Kai noticed a building and wondered about it. "Hey simon, is that big building to our right with the green roof and has a cross on a sign out front the Hospital?", that he pointed to over to their right and about a block away.

Shivering constantly, Kai seemed to think that it was the coldest night ever. Thankfully after a few moments wait for an answer, he received a grand one. A hospital? Now that would be something else. The amount of space that place would have would be great to get out of the cold and be able to go take a jog as well. Once I and If I ever warm up that is....
He continued to listen to his companion as he accompanied him towards this hospital. It was good to hear the place had its own source of power and that there could be people there. He needed to find more people because he was starting to miss his family and fears started trying to creep up on him, that they are locked away and he's about to be locked away in a lonely world himself. So far though he's been able to shake off those thoughts as 'nonsense'.
Then his new friend introduced himself and Kai took the opportunity to introduce himself with style, "It has been a pleasure to meet you Sir Simon," he said with a smile which quickly turned into a smirk as he tried to stop from laughing. Then after finishing shaking his hand he introduced himself with a grand wave of his arm, "I'm Kai or if you want my full name-then I'm Kai Grant." he said this with an open smirk now plastered on his face.
He then nodded thoughtfully when Simon spoke about their encounter and responded with, "Yep we find out our lovely town is a seeming ghost town and somehow meet up with one another and we're about the same age and now we are headed to a hospital with no injuries or appointment.... Hmm, Well I do wonder where our future will lead us next." He said thoughtfully.

His quietly thought motivation to keep on searching houses was: There'll be people in the next couple houses, there'll be people in the next couple houses. But so far he struck out-every place big or small had no lights on and after the tenth such place he went up to the door anyway and rapped on it as hard as he could with his knuckles. Even with his would be rude and unexpected noise at stranger's doors, Kai was left unanswered.
With this lack of success, frustration and worry began to build. Why is nobody up? Why will no one come to the door? Are they all deaf? Or are they afraid to answer their door in the middle of the night to a complete stranger?
His fist not holding the flashlight clenched in response to his stress and he decided to take a turn around the next corner-to go and try a few more houses before heading back home and trying to start his motorcycle.
He just got a clear view of the road around the corner when a can hit him in the chest.
He quickly turned to who must of been the dude behind it. His eyes narrowed as they met a man's of about his own age and who was wearing glasses. He was a little angry with his failure earlier and now this. His mouth went tight lipped for a second before he burst out, "Hey!, Who do you think you-" He managed to get out before he heard, "I am sorry."
It took him a few moments to chill, but after a couple deep breaths he was calm and then smiled in relief at hearing that apparently it was only a failure in the powerlines that was the reason why the lights went off and not vandalism. This made him think though, if his house was not the only one to lose power and the fact this guy didn't see anyone else tonight, could this town be a ghost town overnight?
What he said though, with a smile was, "I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one wandering the streets tonight." Then he remembered the question he must of somehow forgotten, "Old lady and a girl? Nope. Just like you, I haven't seen anybody else since my place's lights went down." Then he shivered, "Hey uh, do you happen to know a place close, that we could warm up in and then talk? I mean I don't mind meeting new friends but I'd rather not be out here with jack frost freezing my buns off."
