Vincent Abigail
AKA Vince, Vin, Vinny Age 19 Birthmark Placement Right Hip
Appearance
Vince is tall and skinny, reaching just over six feet in height. His hair is strawberry blonde and often held back with bobby pins or put up in a ponytail. His eyes are bright golden brown, a peculiar color inherited from his mother. His skin is pale and blemish free, though it burns awfully easily. He has a large wardrobe of fashionable clothes, most of them categorized as street wear.
Personality
Vince grew up with a strong and independent woman, and as such he always strove to be someone she could be proud of. He's kind and understanding, always giving people the benefit of the doubt. This often leads to him being easily manipulated and taken advantage of, but he doesn't let that discourage him. He's quite sensitive, but knows that kids will tease and he shouldn't take everyone's words to heart.
Biography
Vince was a miracle baby. His mother was told for years she wouldn't be able to have a child, but she proved all her doctors wrong when she got pregnant. The father may have been a one night stand, but she was happy all the same. She'd never been one for romance, so she took on the task of raising her child all by herself and running her own fashion studio at the same time. Medical issues plagued Vince's early childhood, but he pulled out okay in the end. His biggest burdens would be the rose birthmark on his hip and his dysfunctional voice box. To his mother, the birthmark was a bigger issue than his muteness. She easily learned sign language and taught it to Vince, as well as how to write on a whiteboard, but knowing she would have to give up her precious son to a civilization of monsters one day terrified her.
Talents
Vince is considered a musical prodigy. He's mastered several instruments, his favorites being piano, violin, and ukulele. He's also very good at lip reading and has never lost the silent game.
Quirks/Tendancies
He has a strange affinity for anything involving strawberries, probably influenced by his mother. He likes playing with people's hair and knows how to do lots of neat braids and buns. He tends to stomp his foot when he needs to get someone's attention.
Fears
Vince fears his disability being an inconvenience for others and his mother being hurt in any way. Loud noises and not being able to see/hear freak him out.
Other
If people can't communicate with him using sign language, he'll either write on his whiteboard or type in the notes app on his phone.
@Sharyxe: Great! I'll get to work on mine too.
Another question! What kind of technological era does this take place in? I know most fantasy type stories take place in medieval times, but I was thinking of changing it up and making things a bit more modern? If that's alright with you, of course!
@Sharyxe: You posted a while back saying you were interested in making a female character? If you made a female creature, I'd make a male rose child to even out the numbers. ^^
Luka felt his cheeks grow warm under the shifter's stare. He moved his eyes to glance around the room, generally unimpressed. The barracks on the humans' land were significantly more modern, made of sturdy concrete and housing more resources and materials. He supposed these were nice too, in their own sort of way. The wood gave the place a home-y feel that was the slightest bit comforting. His eyes returned to Devon as he started speaking, and he listened attentively as he talked about his condition, writing the necessary information on his clipboard. His eyes snapped up and the sound of bed springs creaking. "Whoa, slow down," he protested with a small laugh, stepping toward the bed. "You've still got at least a couple days of bed rest in front of you. Gotta give your body time to recover properly." He knew better than to reach out and push him back into bed, regardless of how gentle he would be. Instead, he positioned himself between his patient and the door. "How's your appetite? Hungry? Thirsty?" He shot another inquisitive glance in the direction of the cat, but decided to save that question for later.
Do you think maybe we should switch the prince's age to 20 and the servant's to 18? Not that it's a very big deal, but it may fit a bit better. ^^
I'm on break until Monday, so I'm good to post whenever.
Relief filled Asher's chest at the prince's words. He hurried over to where the bucket had fallen as carefully as he could, not wanting to slip and make an even bigger fool of himself than he already had. The hall would have to be mopped as soon as possible to avoid any more accidents, and Asher knew Spencer wasn't going to be the one doing it. He ran a hand through his hair to get his wet bangs out of his eyes and picked up the bucket. The lightness of it now almost seemed to mock him. Steps heavy with dread and water, Asher made his way back to the kitchen. He was expecting Spencer's howling laughter to punctuate his entrance, but the man was nowhere no be seen. Asher's relief was short lived as David's voice sounded from behind him. "Asher, you're soaked! What happened?" David's tone belonged to a worried yet disappointed mother. Asher turned around to face him, shoulders slumped in defeat. "I was on my way to dump out the dishwater, but I ran into someone in the hall." He chose not to mention who it was he had run into, knowing David's reaction wouldn't be very pleasant. David raised his eyebrows, a bit of anger sparking behind his glasses. "I told Spencer to take care of that. Did he make you do it for him?" His voice was controlled, but Asher knew if he told David that Spencer had made him do it, he'd be giving him the most disgusting jobs he could think of. David was as tired of Spencer's arrogance and lack of respect as everyone else. Asher wouldn't lie though. Bad karma wasn't something he could afford at the time. So he told David about the bet, and about running into the prince. "You did apologize, right? Asher, please tell me you at least remembered you manners." All Asher could do was shake his head. David let out an exasperated sigh and took the bucket from Asher's hands. "Don't you understand these things reflect poorly on me? Go change your clothes and properly apologize to the prince. I'll take care of the hall." David started to walk off, but Asher grabbed the sleeve of his shirt and met his eyes pleadingly. "You won't tell Spencer, will you?" David uttered a few words of agreement before shooing Asher out of the kitchen. He got himself a dry set of clothes and put the drenched ones out to dry before making his way to the the prince's room. He'd had to ask a maid the way, and hesitated once he reached the door she had described. Taking a deep breath, he knocked on the wood and took a a step back.
@Teknonick: This post has the updated character amounts on it (though they haven't all been accepted yet). To make the ratios even, we would need another male creature.
@Savi: It might help if you put a tally of how many of each type and gender we have on the first post. For examlple, Female Rose Children: 3 Male Rose Children: 1 Female Creatures: 1 Male Creatures: 3
