"And she's a fighter, just like you," Zahara said then looked to Donovan.
"Tuesdays? Good thing you picked a time after security training," Kayden said. She stood up from the table and cracked her neck then picked up her tray. "Then I shall go find him and pester him for a few hours," She said, giving him a cheshire grin before leaving. It was a tedious walk to the boy's side of the dorms and an even longer one to the dorms built to specifically house the giants like Mikey. Counting off the doors, she stopped and knocked loudly. "Mikey! You up?" She called.
Zahara wiped her eyes and looked up to Pakuna. "I never though we'd have to be here like this. Not again."
Zahara froze and put a hand over her mouth, tears starting to stream down her cheeks. She let go of Pakuna and went over to Alyss, stroking a few strands of hair away from her face.
Greyin's father nodded and led them down the hall, Zahara holding Pakuna's hand tightly.
It was hours later that Alyss was out of surgery and wheeled into a room in the ICU, hooked up to monitors and wires with tubes down her throat. Her left arm and leg were broken and wrapped in casts, her torso was wrapped as well for her broken ribs and there were scratches all over her face, arms and legs. Greyin's father sighed and closed the door, going to meet with everyone in the lobby. "I'm not sure you'll want to, but you can see her now," He said gravely.
"Lily, go help that wolf. Victor can sniff out Alex," Melanie said but looked up as she heard a giggle from the hall closet. She went over and opened it up, pulling Alex into her arms. "You scared me! You're not supposed to go off on your own," She said, hugging him tightly.
"Kenna's the only other halfling, I don't think she's able to track yet," Melanie said, taking in deep breaths to try and get a better scent.
"Faintly, he's not in the house," Melanie said. "It's not easy since he's a halfling."
Melanie looked at the wolf briefly then looked around, biting her lip. "I can't find Alex," She said.
