"A lecture on theoretical physics. Specifically, the nature of spacetime, my field of expertise, which also explains why I was at the lab so promptly; namely because I've been taking an avid interest in your work on portals."

He smiles.

"By the way, your equations were a little off. I could feel the instability in your portal as I came through."

Looks good. Accepted.

So, how do I introduce him? Should I just toss him in, or do we work out something a little more complex?

Actually, the edit made it worse, it created a mutation similar to Spider-Man or as was mentioned before, the Fantastic Four. Also to help clarify, as far as X-Men are concerned, you are considered a mutant when you are born with a genetic mutation, due to your father's mutated x-chromosomes.

Fair enough. This edit should fix it, though.
I found it too funny not to. Best thing I've seen all week.
If it's that big of an issue, I'll just make it so the cosmic radiation influenced his X-gene. Different fluff, same result.

Edited to that effect.
I'm in. I love Greek mythology. Are we going to do this by thread or PM?
If you're willing to participate in two of these, I would also like to express my interest.

What.
He doesn't look up, but snaps his fingers and a fire roars up, dancing merrily in the fireplace.

"Very well. The sofa is excellent, by the way; in the Infernal Realm, we have no such things. I suppose it is what one would call 'comfortable', not a sensation I can claim familiarity with. Those bloody angels hogging all the goods..."

His shoes float off his feet and settle neatly by the door.

"In fairness, the Sins did some pretty serious stuff back before the Separation, but still..."

A moment of silence, before he abruptly sits up.

"We hate it as much as you mortals do... or did, back when they still came. It's hot and smoky and sulphurous and absolutely horribly dull. It's just red and fire and rocks and lava forever, apart from the palaces of the Sins, and they're just dedicated to the nature of their respective masters. There's nothing to entertain a mind there. Not, of course, that many of my fellow demons are worthy of being called truly intelligent, but even the dullest of them wants at least a place to sleep that's more than red rocky ground. I once spent three centuries engraving a landscape of ancient England into a mountainside because I was so bloody bored."

He grins.

"But now... well, I'm out and about and I get to exercise my brain for the first time in forever. That's a definite blessing... though not one given by the angels."
