No one's forcing anyone to become mad, I think. But at least leave the option open for some people in case they want to go that route. Madness is a rather integral part of Soul Eater after all.

"..ahaha..." She gave Mike a sweet smile. "Stop staring or I'll break your jaw."

"Well, to get things started, I have an assignment for every one of you. Since Shibusen is a school of Meisters and Weapons alike, I want those of you who haven't figured out a partner to find one within the next days. Classes will start as usual on Monday." The Reaper looked at his watch. "Which is in two days as well. Have fun. Take good care."

Convenient.

"Well... Since we're already acquainted with each other, want to partner up with me?"

There wasn't really any reason to look for another Weapon, unless she wanted another type, like a sword or something. Speaking of which, she haven't seen what his full Weapon form was. It could be anything from an artillery, to a bazooka.

"Ah.. Wait, I'm jumping the gun here. Lets see if our soul wavelengths match first." Giving him an expectant look, she waited for him to transform.

Amellia gave a small sigh to herself, as the boy controlled himself and stopped crying. He grasped her hand rather hesitantly, pausing briefly as he did so.

She thought it was a bit odd but kept it to herself.

"Now, we need to wait at least until the Princi-"

She moved her hand by reflex, catching a few packets of cheese sticks. The woman who threw it at, Goldman or something, then proceeded to tell Amellia that she needed to gain weight and improve her bust. Her grip on Mike's hand tightened, her smile becoming cold as she realized what hat woman was implying.

"..that...that woman..."

Amellia crushed the cheese sticks in one hand, barely keeping in her anger. Was that woman trying to make her fat? Her breasts was fine as it is; she doesn't need it any bigger. Cheese sticks would not help with those either. They would only destroy the figure she tried so hard to keep. Calming herself down, she turned her smile onto Mike.

"Hey, Mike. Do you think my bust is small?"

Oh dear gods above, that just slipped out of her mouth.

"Ah! Er... it was nothing. Please ignore what I said just now." Looking around for some excuse, she pulled MIke nearer to the podium where the Principal was. "Lets get closer so we can hear him speak clearly."

Well, people do have differing opinion about everything. One might think Witches are ok if they are harmless and all, and might grow up to actually be nice, but others might want to cull them before they grow up and become powerful enough to become a threat.

So, you might think its weird, but what of our characters? Each of them are unique in their own ways and form their own opinions in different ways. So being thought of as an idiot is perfectly plausible. Remember it is our characters' opinion, not necessarily ours.

Well, we can have alien fleets, Atlantean resurfaced fleet of pew pewiness, super secret organisation which suddenly fielded its extreme navel might, to being betrayed and shot at because of some fault or other.
