Also I'm not sure why everyone wants to get up close to or sneak up to a jedi or Sith, when a gun is largely a ranged weapon.

Snip that foo form half a mile away, once he hears the sound of the bullet firing he is already dead.

They didn't use bullets in the movies. The mechanics of blocking a bullet with a lightsaber are somewhat less forgiving than those of blocking a blaster bolt, and even if they manage it, they've still got a spray of molten mist to deal with. And like I said, even if it didn't kill them (and it usually took a lot more than one bullet to get the job done), it broke their focus on their prep and forced them to devote their energies to a defense instead of their attack.

This is why kinetic weapons are superior to silly energy weapons.

Many writers do an excellent job of devising interesting sounding new weapons and equipment. Blasters, phasers, disrupters, lightsabres, ect. However, what many writers do not consider is the full impact of the weapons in a combat environment. A weapon that fires once and takes a minute or two to recharge before it can fire again is little better than a seventeen hundreds era musket. The bearer of that weapon will be in big trouble if he/she must face someone with say, a bolt action rifle which can be fired much more frequently. Even worse if they have to face someone with a submachine gun. (I think a certain character in the CS list has a advanced weapon like this, they know who they are.)

Thus you end up with the simple question of how would Luke Skywalker, armed with a light saber deal with an attacker armed with a mac-10 or Uzi? What about two attackers armed with Uzi's?

Both magic and technology can do heavy use of hand waving. *cough cough death star cough cough*

Death star is sci-fi, like super technobabble. It should be more powers rather then magic really.
That is the give and take of technology, your weapon always fires with the same amount of damage every time and usually very quickly. And magic tends to take longer to use but can become more powerful generally.

In the end it leads to Tech < Magic.

Unless of course you can combine tech and magic, and I would place sci-fi and high grade technology in that pile as well.
Name- Diēscogitō Khan
Age- 31
Gender-male
Race- Draythikon nomad
Class- Ranger
(Draythikon are humans who have adapted to harsh environments from living centuries as nomads)
Personality- Diescogito is a calm collected individual, often kind and gregarious when meeting strangers. He has a noble heart and is extremely loyal, especially to trusted friends. Though this often makes him a little naive and over trusting at times. Having lived among his family for so long, Diescogito dislikes being alone. His greatest fear in fact is being abandoned or left behind. Competent and intelligent, Diescogito is a quick learner when it comes to new task or experiences. His lifestyle having been one of adapting quickly to thrive, has bred him into an effect survivor. Despite circumstances he can be very optimistic, always trying to find a way out or around a problem. His determination to prevail gives him a resolve that borders on zealous. Never wanting to be one to let his comrades down. Like he felt he had done with his mother and brother years past.

Appearance

Is roughly 5'7, with a slender but athletic build. His arms are strong and heavily muscled, surprisingly so despite his size. All do to his long practice with the bow.

Strengths- Expert Marksmen, Nimble/quick, Excellent Horsemen, is a seasoned tracker of some skill and knows scrimshaw
Weaknesses- Being short of stature Diescogito does no possess great constitution and is not very skilled in close combat.

Powers- Diescogito Was taught various forms of minor nature magic as he grew up with his tribe. Though he has not innate magical ability, he managed to learn several potent runes of magic. Thus he knows the strange arts of rune-casting; a technique for channeling the arcane energy inherent in the world without the risk of arcane corruption.

Rune of Bounty: This rune once inscribed on a small object can bestow special energies that thus cause it to duplicate. Diescogito has only managed to duplicate items like his arrows. This rune thus allows him to fire a single arrow, which splits into three more upon flight. A slightly longer ritual allows a arrow shot skyward to rain down a volley of arrows instead.

Rune of Finding: This rune allows the use of 'Seeker Arrow' in which allows Diescogito to launch an arrow at a target known to him within range, and the arrow travels to the target, even around corners. Only an unavoidable obstacle or the limit of the arrow's range prevents the arrow's flight. Diescogito must have seen the target and be able to clearly picture it in his mind. This Rune can be used only four times per day.

Rune of Soul: This rune allows 'Phase Arrow', Diescogito can then launch an arrow once per hour at a target known to him within range, and the arrow travels to the target in a straight path, passing through any nonmagical barrier or wall in its way. (Any magical barrier stops the arrow.)

Earth Rune: This rune has the power to mold the earth itself. When Diescogito prepares these runes, they can be set to activate once approached. He can fix it to function from weight or the speed of the thing approaching, in either case once activated, the rune causes the earth to melt and become like mud, slowing down any one trapped within it. The earth slowly hardens again after a time. The extent of it's range is 20 feet, though Diescogito can minimize the area of effect. This can be placed on an arrow to effect a spot from a distance upon hitting it.

Equipment-

Diescogito wears a set of armor and cloths as shown directly above. It consists of beautifully crafted vambraces made from heavy grade leather and though thick, are easy and comfortable to wear. The vambraces work great for with his bow. He also wears leather padding on his right arm, though not as thickly in order for him to make full use of his right hand for shooting. The single Pauldron on the left side shoulder comes with a built in chest harness that provides a very sturdy fit, and is also tied in with the quiver on his back. Crafted from hardened leather they provide adequate protection.

The roguish armor overall is made for agile movement, making it the perfect protection for those mobile types who like to hit and run, or at least dodge and roll when they're engaged in heavy combat The right side is cut away for increased reduction in weight. When a blow does get through Diescogito agile defenses, the armor has the strength to keep him safe from a few lucky light blows. The armor is comprised of a single cuirass, which consists of a flat abdomen that's been reinforced with several small leather plates. The upper part of the cuirass echoes this design somewhat, possessing a fuller, rounded shape that's been reinforced with additional leather plating, creating a truly defensible design, which is mostly focused on the left side and over his heart.

His belt is made entirely from hardened leather and serves well as a piece of armor around his abdomen. The belt is wide in design, similar in nature to a kidney belt, as is it's purpose The belt features riveted-on plates of leather for reinforced defense as well as a fine patterned design using Draythikon runes and symbols. The edge is accented with a stitched leather lacing accent too, all the while remaining light and flexible. The final touches comes in the form of an attached hood, as well as a steel forged full face mask with leather padding underneath the mask. The eye holes are large enough to see through and not disrupt his aim.

Quivers: Diescogito possess two quivers, one strapped to his back, the second to his right leg hung from his belt. Neither is special in and of themselves. Though there is a hidden compartment underneath each. Made from tanned leather, the first leather quiver has a shoulder strap and is meant to be worn on the back. The quiver is held together by leather lacing, the second is worn from this belt by two straps. Both leather quivers are 3.5 inches in diameter and approx. 26 inches deep. Both can carry 2 dozen arrows. Making for a total of 44 arrows.

Draythikon Bow: Diescogito bow is a composite bow beautifully crafted and built with a recurve design with the total length of the frame around 150-160 cm. When the bow is unstrung, it looks like a semi-circle with a beautifully curvaceous shape, but when a string is attached the whole thing is stretched out so that its limbs are bent inward. Even so, the limbs with string attachments are bent slightly away from the archer, forming a double curve, making the recurve design. It is this double curve that delivers explosive acceleration and awesome velocity of each arrow. From these limbs or bends of the bow behind the string attachments where the impact is greatest, the frame is covered with elongated and flattened pieces of wyvern horn and bone which adds snapping power to the resilient wood built into in the frame.

These hard parts form a layer that covers the whole area of the so-called belly, which is the part between the grip and the limbs. The bow itself has a drew length of roughly 30 inches and the drew weight averages at around 166 pounds. The max distance it can hit its target is 350 yards or 320 meters, Diescogito's skill sometimes allowing him to hit targets slightly further then that. No bow, however, no matter how powerful, can be shot without a string. Like traditional Draythikon bowstrings, Diescogito's are made from animal hide. Diescogito uses a thumb ring made of animal horn when using his bow.

Arrows: Diescogito's arrows are made of birch as is typical a material for arrows. Their length is roughly between 80 cm, and the shaft's diameter is around 10 mm. The following arrow types are;

Bodkin: Bodkin points are short, rigid points with a small cross-section. These are the primary arrows Diescogito uses, and are exclusively used in his shoulder quiver. They are excellent at piercing armor.

Whistling arrow: whistling arrows are often used for signaling or warning allies. They are made by inserting an arrowhead of bone in which air channels have been created. When shot, such arrowheads make a very audible sound through the air. He carries four of these.

Impact Arrows: These arrows make a small explosion upon impact, also causing a great flash of light. Useful for distractions. Diescogito carries ten of these in his belt quiver.

Net arrows: The Blunt arrows look harmless from a distance, but when fired their heads explode discharging a large net 10 feet in diameter. The Net was circular with lead weights around the edge to help ensure or distract foes.

Hunting Dagger: Its name may imply that it is great for hunting, but do not let that fool you into thinking that this dagger is only useful for scrimshaw. Far from it, as this wicked short sword is a handy weapon to have in battle as well. The very epitome of a perfect weapon, this incredible blade offers a short edge that is easily used and moved in combat, but just long enough to give good reach. The double-edged blade features serrations along the back edge, while the grip is wrapped in suede for a comfortable hold. It is also encased in a D-ring guard with a finger-ring accent, for added versatility and strength when held and used. It is crafted from an extremely durable iron. The Hunting Sword has an average overall length of approximately 23.75 inches. The blade itself is 16.75 inches, and Diēscogitō keeps the weapon sheathed at the small of his back.

That would be nice.

BTW, im pretty sure this question hasn't been adressed prqoperly before. If a character preps, what is the amount of impacts that their prep can transfer to? EXAMPLE 1: Viking McMighty preps, and then leaps towards his enemy, bringing down both of his swords onto the lad's head in unison. This is one action, both of the weapons have the same target and the same motion put into them. Will the prep be accounted to one impact, or to all of the attack's components? EXAMPLE 2: Gunslinger Mary is pissed off, and decides to put all of her preps into a vile minigun rampage.I assume that while she holds the trigger down, it still counts as a prepped attack, but am i right? Or what if the post is written in such a manner, that blends several short bursts into one action: all of them fired off at the same target, in a short period of time and throught the action, the shooter remains stationary?

Generally a fair bit of logic is used when dealing with prepped attacks. Generally it will depend on the context in how exactly he prepped. Was he swinging both his axes to gain more momentum before the blow? The example is kind of unclear but if the momentum was the case, and assuming his opponent used a common shield, like a Targe or something, and was readying/bracing himself for the swing (since he seems to dense to try and avoid it) then the attack would be far more devastating then if he was swinging only one axe. (assuming he would have been swinging with one hand.)

The second example is also vague in how she is prepping the attack. Generally you can't prep fire arms, the inherent damage of the gun will pretty much remain the same no matter how lovably you squeeze it. Now if the opponent has some kind of ability that installs more destructive power into each round that's another story. Now assuming that Mary has such a power, each bullet would count as one perp, in that each one would be doing the same amount of damage as the rest.

While I fully agree that the technique is completely ridiculous, I have no issues with you using it in this context. I'm a huge fan of "From hell's heart I stab at thee" moments, so go right ahead. Since I am unable to make any dice rolls to avoid losing dots I don't have, I'm going to go ahead and assume it's not going to kill or comatose him. Severely wound in a permanent manner? Oh yes. Go right ahead Beta.

One point for using a Khan quote.
As the rain slowly began to fall more heavily, the raging fire in the town had almost consumed half of the settlement. With any luck for the citizens, the rain might be enough to slow the fire from spreading further. Water ran down across Snarnorgul's scales and exoskeleton. A drop flowed down his snout but he ignored the sensation as he trained his senses on his surroundings. After reaching an intersection he spotted what looked to be the sight of a small skirmish, with several bodies strewn about. At first Snarnorgul paid them little heed, but when his sharp eyes spotted the mutilated body of a familiar elf his suspicions were confirmed.

He stomped down hard on the cobbled street with his right leg in frustration, shaking the ground. Snarnorgul had held no great love for the elven commander of course, but the insult of his death simply could not be allowed to stand. The rush of air like the beating of wings caught the attention of his sensitive hearing over the platter of rain. The distinct sound drew his attention to an odd sight, of what appeared to be reptilian looking female with wings. It took Snarnorgul a moment to realize it looked remarkably like a humanoid dragon.

"Hey mister big meanie! Over here!"

Snarnorgul reared up to his full height and let loose a great angry roar that echoed across the town. Squinting rain out of his eyes he snarled at the creature above him that dared to taunt him, baring his fangs. She hovered somewhere around 20 feet in the air making circles.

'You dare mock Snarnorgul The Mighty!' Projecting his voice directly into her mind. He swept his head about, water flying from his head with each quick turn. He then settled his eyes on his right, on a large two story house sporting a chimney. Like many of the buildings it was partly on the fire that had been spreading for some time. He brought his large pincers up and clapped down hard on the roofs edge, heedless of the flames. Then tearing half the top off with a grunt, managing to break a large segment of the triangle shaped roof away. Tiles and pieces of debris fell as he lifted it over his head growling in anger. With a shout he brought it back and tossed it with frightening strength causing it to sail spinning toward the smug dragon girl.

He aimed it slightly high up aiming for where she would go, thus making it difficult for her to simply stop or change course midway. Snarnorgul had had some experience fighting flying foes before, such as the hated vrocks--winged tanar'ri a cross between a large human and a huge vulture. He predicted she might attempt to dive lower to gain enough speed to avoid the improvised missile which would reach her in two heartbeats. He might hit, or might not, but either way time was on his side he knew.
