So, despite my low post count, I'm not new at this. I've been gone for a year (maybe more?) dealing with some stuff on the backend, but now that my calendar has freed up, I'm looking for partners!

A few general guidelines before I get this search underway:

** This is a space for 18+ (ideally 21+ but I make exceptions) due to occasional graphic violence, mentions of past/current abusive situations, horror, gore, and occasionally smut. I expect my partners to talk things out with me if there's a specific topic you'd like not to touch, and I'll do the same.

** I don't RP in the forums. There's nothing against it, but I don't like being watched by strangers when I craft stories with someone else. I work in PMs, Google Docs, and Discord!

** Be friendly and come with ideas! I'm not a horrible monster who will nitpick everything you say, and I'm generally more active with partners I consider a friend/nice to be around. OOC chat is always open, as I like to talk about ideas with my partner while we write to stay on track with each other.

** Old writing partners: Hi! If you're seeing this, I've likely tried to reach out to you about what we'd been working on before I needed to take an emergency departure. Feel free to get back to me if there's something you'd like to continue, I'd love to hear from you.

** I expect a high-casual/low-advanced level of writing. What that means is multiple paragraphs, thought, and emotion put into them, with good openings for a reply. Don't give me a wall of text that's impossible to reply to and continue the story. Spelling and grammar are hard, and I'll never outright correct you on mistakes, but I'm a writer by profession, and if you can't make things legible and easy to follow, it won't work.

Now that that's over with, let's get to what I'll write.

I'm comfortable playing any gender (I tend to swing towards males); pairings (if applicable) can be MxM FxM FxF (this includes all gender nonconforming characters as well). I've played multiple characters before and have no issues doing the same again if the story needs it. Romance isn't always needed! If you'd like to keep it just friends/coworkers/adventurers, that's absolutely fine with me.

Topics/Ideas:

Slice of Life
- this has to be my favorite, hands down. It can be any time period, any setting; it all works for me. Current ideas include:
* Best friends keeping their friendship (or romance) alive while long-distance
* Good ol' fashioned school drama (college preferred, but high school is cool too)
* Coworkers dealing with office drama and life
* High-fantasy dnd-style slice of life (follow around adventurers in their adventures type of story)

Sci-Fi/Fantasy - Again, this can include any other ideas you want to throw a twist/different setting into. I'm an avid fantasy fan, but I have dabbled into the more sci-fi realms as of late.
* Anything that has to do with courtly intrigue in a kingdom (no, seriously, I'm all about hushed whispers in empty castle hallways and secretive plans to form a coup)
* Long-distance space travel (going off to a new planet? a supply vessel that gets stranded/taken over? yes, all of it)

Steampunk/Western/Historical - This is a less used topic for me, and I'm not historically versed in things like WW1/WW2, but I'm open to ideas.
* Murder mystery with limited technology (to be honest, this fits in a lot of other categories, but I'm fascinated with people trying to solve some big crime using nothing but their brains)

There's likely more, but that's all I can think to put down. If you've got another idea, or want to tweak any of mine, just PM me and let me know.
Woah hey y'all long time no see! If I'm here then you know what that means: new partner search!

Instead of updating my previous post, I'm going to just redo it. Easier on my brain that way.

For those of you new to my space, hey hi welcome in. My name is Memes (yes like the internet thing), you can call me that or Heretic or Cleric or "hey you over there with the unfortunate corporeal existence". Whatever works. Any pronouns also work, doesn't matter to me. I'm a writer by trade, not only am I going to school to finally finish my masters for it, but I also write short-form horror stories and am developing my own ttrpg system as we speak. (No it's not ready yet please don't @ me I'm working on it I promise).

I'm looking for a handful of partners to just vibe with and get some good stories going, as I'm sorely lacking in that part of my life. Writing has once again become dull and uninteresting, and I'm looking for friends to change that.

What I will do:
+ Almost any setting, time period, social structure, or world idea you already have/want to explore
+ I love horror, especially things that verge into found footage/eldritch in nature, but it's not required of my partners or our worlds to be scary. We all need a break from things right now.
+ Multiple characters (if you hadn't guessed by my little blurb above, I'm basically the human equivalent of a gashapon machine; crank my mental wheel hard enough and something interesting will pop out. Usually more than one thing.)
+ Romance and 18+ themes, within a few rules and within reason.

What I don't do:
+ Purely smut (I tried it with the last partner and yes if we connect and this is what we end up with cool beans, but don't come at me with a thinly veiled plot barely hiding the perky peaks of a bad kitchen novel)
+ Anything motivated to clearly put down a group of marginalized people for the sake of plot (you know what this is and if this is you, walk away)
+ A one-sided story (should be pretty easy to guess, but don't come in here expecting me to be pillow royalty about a story, I want to get my hands dirty in it)

If any of this strikes your fancy, and you're looking for someone with a high level of literacy and articulation as well as a pretty laid-back attitude to things like the number of posts or the style in which we post, feel free to hit me up! My inbox is open, the kettle is on the stove, and I look forward to whoever stops by.

Update 1:

Upon further review of my own posts, I guess I didn't mention a few things so I'll give them here.

+ I have a variety of characters all with different genders/gender identities, and I'm happy to work with you to find a match for your own style
+ That being said, romance and any adult themes of the smut nature come as side plots to whatever else we do. Unless you've got a great idea for how it's going to be the main focus that tickles my admittedly particular fancy, then we can talk.
+ I don't do fandoms in general. I'm a simple creature who doesn't enjoy mainstream media for the most part as I spend too much time in my own head to really like things, but if you think you can sway me, I encourage you to try with wholehearted enthusiasm
Hail, friends!

My name is 'Memes, and I'm bored, incredibly so; and while I don't have time to devote to a larger RP or a tabletop adventure while I'm in the middle of a large project, I do have the urge to get my proverbial feet wet in some interactions. Some things to know: I can do romance especially if it's one of those good slow burns and makes the whole RP a nice space, I'm fine with adult themes (though rape is a no-no when played out. Mentioned is fine, implied is great, simply refuse to read and write it) and I post at least once a day and can be alarmingly quick with my replies depending on where I am with work. I don't expect a lot from my partners aside from good communication and a willingness to progress the story with good grammar and spelling (within reason, we're human and mistakes happen often, so no big!).

Here's what I'm willing to work with as of right now:

+ Slice of life (schools are cool, so are things like summer jobs between classes or coffee/bookstore things)
+ Fantasy (royalty, medieval times, if you want magic that's super cool too)
+ Anything a little scary, seriously can be anything, you want a Mothman hunt gone wrong? What about haunted house situations or demonic possession? I'm your person
+ Two-people D&D? More like an adventuring party? Is there such a thing as a D&D slice of life because if there is I'm so here for it.
+ Westerns (simple things like a slice of life, or the mine's dried up, whatever really as long as there are cowboys and dusty skirt tails in saloons)
+ History (lately it's been Victorian/Edwardian settings, think those strange times of gas lamp romances and back-alley murders)

EDIT: Wow y'all that's a lot of replies in my inbox! For right now I'm closing this, but if there's something you've desperately got to pitch to me, hit me up and let me know!

This always feels like the first day of class where you have to stand up and say things about yourself in front of your peers, which is honestly the worst.

Hey I'm me, usually, I go by 'Memes (it's a nickname and originally had nothing to do with actual MemesTM) or honestly whatever works in conversation. Real names are boring and in my line of work being a published author and editor, they ruin a lot of the mystery and fun. I come from a largely fanfiction-related background, starting my horribly embarrassing career over a decade ago fuck I'm old back when ff.n was in full swing. From there I've helped good friends turn those stories into actual books being sold on Amazon and making Real Honest Money instead of just being viewed by weird preteens, and even publishing a few of my more popular works myself.

My goals for getting back into a space such as this is simple: my husband gets to have all the fun being a DM and playing his games and damnit I want in. We're long distance because of school and work, and while I'm proud of him off doing his own thing, I miss having a group of people sitting around and playing in a shared world-space. I'm familiar with both the traditional 5e playstyle (and have a vast amount of unused characters in my arsenal) and the Monster of the Week game which is honestly super fun and I'm surprised many people haven't heard of it before.

I'll list all of my current and familiar fandoms/games below, just in case someone sees something and has been looking for someone like me:

+ Monster of the Week
+ D&D 5e
+ Critical Role
+ The Adventure Zone (all arcs)
+ Assassins Creed
+ Elder Scrolls
+ Detroit: Become Human
+ Dragon Age
+ the Long Dark
+ the Dark Tower/any Steven King (seriously between my mother and I we have everything he and his children have published/edited)

There's probably more, so feel free to ask me if you're curious. For now, I'll be lurking around as I finish out this term and finish a few projects I'm working on.

Best,

'Memes
