*Rolls over to the desk, picks up the envelope, opens it, and pulls out a single letter*

Dear sir or madam... Hmnumnumna... Cordially invited to participate in the Omniversal Olympics of Academics... Chance for underrated scientists to prove themselves... Massive number of participants; thousands will be competing... This is the fifth ever, so please excuse any difficulties staff may be having... You have been chosen as worthy, as your achievements are remarkable, yet undeservingly overshadowed by others.

Fun fact, though: 3 of these minor plots involve recurring characters from a while back as a bad guy, and one of them features a support character that you may be able to guess if your memory and story-reading skills are good enough.

What we've got here is a perfect match from the actual symbol there, located via space probe, on a remote planet similar to the one you're on now.

Of course. It wasn't here originally. It's an early model. Don't see too many of these around the city at all. They're mostly two-way lr three-way nodes, for convenience. I had this one installed here because it made it easier for me to get here and help my friends if it is needed, and anyone who may try to sneak through to the other end would find that they simply couldn't.
