@HHShetland Who's that in your avatar? It looks like an interesting character.

Hmm? Oh, that's no-one in particular. That's just a Fongoid, myeh, from Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time, myeh. I chose it as my avatar, myeh, because I think they're adorable, myeh.
Hmm... I see your point. On reflection, the original idea may have been somewhat difficult to make 'relevant' due to the aforementioned stupidity. Don't worry, I have another idea.
I am back, and after much consideration, I've decided I probably won't be getting anywhere with my fanfictions any time soon so I might as well bolster my focus with something that applies considerable pressure. RPs like this are good at that, I have noticed.

There is one question I have, though: in regards to characters, how... silly can it get? I suppose it may be redundant question now that Dizzy is in (great idea, by the way), but she's not stupid. The character I have in mind is. Very much so.
Greetings! It's been a while since I attempted this sort of RP... or any RP in general, really, and I wanted to know if the ol' submissions had been closed off yet. Just so I know how much time I have to come up with something, if anything.
I may potentially be interested. Will wait to see more details first. I only want to take on one RP here this time, so I must choose wisely.
I don't want to be rude @HHShetlandbut if you don't think you're going to stick it out and post in the RP, perhaps you shouldn't take up a slot in this RP, someone else may want a place.

You know, I think you might be right. I think I tried to delude myself that I wasn't still burned out with RPs stacked on top of more RPs. I'll try and keep an eye on this, though. I appreciate the opportunity nonetheless.

Well, it's not entirely necessary. Knowing me, it's possible I might not even post anything. But I'll create the CS anyway because it's a character that originated in a different RP so I'd probably re-use them anyways.
I had one of those as well. Except they were more ground vehicle and robotics oriented, as opposed to starship mechanics.
@HHShetland
I'm thinking of leaving non-human characters on the sidelines for this one (I have a feeling aliens will be exceptionally popular and the crew will be swamped with all sorts of creatures and it will turn into a alien melting pot as opposed to a platform for a series of diverse characters (as opposed to species) to interact).

You sure that's a good conclusion to reach? I mean, it all depends on the writer. Human characters are just as vulnerable to the curse of unimaginative and boring character as non-humans; if not more so, since the writer doesn't have to create all the fluff surrounding the creation of new species...es. Likewise, it's perfectly possible to make well-written non-human characters. I like to think I always make an attempt to give my non-human characters... well, actual character (as opposed to a Planet-of-Hats style stereotype).

In addition, I feel as though your predictions are inaccurate based on my experience with RPs. From my experience, even if you allow non-Human characters, most people will still pick humans because they know how to write them better since they themselves are (presumably) human, and that's perfectly fine. And a lot of the people who aren't human are creatures that look so much like humans that they might as well be. As a result, only a small handful of truly alien characters come into the picture, which I'll admit may make it easier for an unimaginative writer to just throw character to the sidelines and make them into a token alien stereotype, but at least they wouldn't detract from the overall quality too much, assuming that all the human characters are interesting enough. And if the alien character(s) are interesting too, then that just makes things even better, if you ask me.

Anyway, I just thought I'd give my opinion here. I understand your concerns, though; personally I'd recommend limiting the amount of non-humans rather than banning them altogether, just to avoid alienating, no pun intended, certain types of RPers. Though if you're still not convinced, that's fine. I never play as humans, so this might be a good opportunity to experiment.

I'd just like to throw my interest in here, considering I've been looking for this sort of RP for Gods-know-how-long. I would be curious if it'd be possible to work in more 'civilian' type characters as opposed to the usual mercenaries and soldiers; I feel as though the Regular Joes get overlooked sometimes. I'm all for playing as Aliens, though. :P
