Bio

Hello! My name is Jacob. 29 years old (ugh how does this happen).

Interests: Death Note, Platinum End, Alice in Borderlands, As the Gods Will, Harry Potter, Danganronpa, Dungeons and Dragons, Persona 5, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Xenoblade Chronicles, Devil Survivor, Final Fantasy XIV, Mafia/Werewolf social game, Squid Game, Zero Escape, Avatar the Last Airbender.

If I somehow end up actually doing this, I could see myself one day trying to GM one of the above. Platinum End for example is something that is so open-ended in plot and takes place in the real world that it wouldn't take much work at all to get moving. But it does deal with some very mature themes (could be altered really, like all participants are simply saved from an untimely death they were destined for).

Experience: None in the past decade. May as well be a newcomer to the practice. I remember having done some "PVP", which was very unsatisfying. I'm not opposed to RPing conflict between players, just not "arena" fighting for the sake of "winning". I also remember doing some not so safe for work things, but that was not with random strangers but rather SO's, and I'm no longer a wild teen so that is no longer something I seek.

Not sure what to put here yet so maybe I can talk about what I enjoy doing for the hell of it.

In my personal life I enjoy playing RPGs. Just put down Fire Emblem Three Hopes after doing two routes, waiting for word on potential DLC before picking it up again; now waiting for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 coming up soon! I usually play Nintendo consoles and sometimes PC. As I've grown older I have narrowed my purchases to anything that looks like it has an interesting story, characters, or world to digest and remember for years to come.

My first love for such things was probably kindled during summer breaks when my parents would let me play games with fewer restrictions. On my PS2 I had played Everquest Online and would pick a direction and just run, run as far as I could. Bobbing and weaving past enemies that could knock me flat in one swing, just to see as much of the world and its monsters as I could. I remember climbing some mountains and finding a huge nest of griffons. I had sworn then that I would one day return, stronger, and fight them... well turns out as a kid I was really bad at games so yeah that never happened and those griffons survived but so did my love of adventure lol.

I also played Final Fantasy XI Online back then, was also really bad at it, but that world inspired me to write for the first time, inserting myself into a loosely based version of the game in 12 increasingly longer and more serious "books". Lame I know, but I envy that young version of myself dearly, no matter how cringe-inducing the writing may be to my eyes now because I am now painfully aware that there is something worse than bad writing--no writing at all, and that is what I do now. Who knows, wouldn't it be ironic to return to form by writing in the world of Final Fantasy XIV Online? I sub and play it whenever I feel like there is enough for me to do. Have all the healer jobs at level 90. Phenomenal story by the way.

I am also reading the occassional fantasy novel or an easily digestible book of philosophy. But I'm a newb in terms of experience with either really. In fact if I ever write a novel as I would one day love to, I'd love to write something with a mix of both.
