"THAT IS ENOUGH!"

Anara's shout alone probably would have silenced the Council in full swing, but it was Inirath's roar that packed a real punch. There were certain perks that came with being the biggest and the bossiest, and she wasn't about to just let those slip because they were away from Draketooth. The thunder dragon rose up to her full height, chest out and head up, and her silver claws dug deep furrows into the dirt—most worrying, though, was the fact that each and every rider on the islet felt their hair stand on end, and the air carried a distinct scent of ozone.

Keltor held her ground, standing with her feet planted, a few feet away from Inirath's front paws. One of her hands was tight around the hilt of her still-sheathed sword. She wasn't just irritated now; she was angry. When Quincy landed at her feet, she hauled him to his feet in one smooth movement before turning back to the group at large.

"Sarai," she said, teeth clenched and tone icier than any frostbite's breath. "Control Razeth or Inirath will. Quincy, Alejandra had better not lunge at anyone right now or we're going to have issues. Cabhan—wake the others. Anyone who will come."

Her hand tightened on her sword, and there was a grinding noise as she slid it a bare inch out of the scabbard, then sharply back in. Inirath's head sank lower, her frill standing on edge and her eyes gleaming an unnatural gold as she showed just an inch of her silver teeth.

"I suggest you start explaining, Axon, before you make another bad decision."
There were few things quite like looking up to see an angry dragonrider glaring down at you, much less a Councilor.

"And I thought," Anara said, tone tightly controlled—a sure warning sign to any who knew her well—"that this would be a nice, short, uneventful camping trip. It would appear I was wrong." She set down the firewood she'd collected a hair harder than she needed to and straightened, folding her hands behind her back. The leather of her riding gloves creaked. Her eyes flicked from person to person, dragon to dragon, and narrowed into hazel slits.

"Odell, put the man down," she snapped. "Walsh, for gods' sake, put the bow down. And you—" Her gaze settled on the spiky black beast in their midst. "That's Razeth. Which means this young man would be Axon Sarai. And that means—"

The ground trembled, and a branch snapped overhead. There was suddenly a very large, very irritated silver head looming a handful of feet above Anara's head, her black hair crackling with static. Inirath had been just about to lay down for a nap until her rider's surprise stirred her, and that was never a good time to be around the thunder dragon. She valued her sleep so very much.

"—that you had better start explaining how and why you're here, Sarai."
as far as cursing, irl i tend to consider a sentence improperly embellished if it doesn't include at least one swear, so: if it doesn't make anyone uncomfortable, full speed ahead. i'll get a minor post up sometime soon!
no worries, thanks for the update
