I think Su (and the Water Shamans) may end up being a foreign species (presumably roughly human in appearance) who worship the possibly deceased Sea god Narverking.

"Well, I suppose you could say that." Gideon replied. "I am a naiad, and my name is Gideon." He could see the centaur was a friendly sort, and clearly, the same one he had seen collide with something, or indeed someone, twice already this week. Fortunately, that was not the case this time. Naiads do not take kindly to being trodden on, and usually, if hit with enough force, could unwillingly disperse entirely into the nearest available water. And, as Gideon knew, the time it would take to piece his consciousness back together would not be a length you would want to hold your breath for.

He noticed the other guy standing nearby. His clothes seemed to be designed to direct the eyes to all the parts of the body you wished to avoid, so Gideon quickly averted his gaze back to the centaur.
"Nice to meet you, Simon."

Maybe they're an offshoot of the main Zhu culture, similar to the 'Tribals'? Just to avoid sounding like heretics to the majority.

I know. I took History GCSE (I don't know what your education system is in your country, so there might be an equivalent. I don't even know where you're from!) and I'm really enjoying it. We're doing the inter-war years, World War Two and recovery in Britain (mainly England and Wales) and Germany, and the Civil Right movement in the USA. Only negative thing about it is that I prefer military history to civil history, which is what we're doing D:
