@Inlaa, like you said, both characters are fairly similar in style. Her personality is fairly expected for a roguish character, if a bit on the megalomaniacish side.

Regarding her father's death, why did no one bother pursuing her? Even later on in her life? I'd imagine witnesses are the last thing a criminal organization needs.

Skills, as stated previously, I'm not a fan of allowing people to have professional level skills, but again, 10 years is a lot of time to do things.

Regarding her items- I'm really against giving people magical items at the start of the RP, but I guess if it all it does is glow...

She's definitely intended to be a nastier character than usual. I figured this was as good a thread as any (given the request for flawed characters) to make someone that could be a decent person, maybe, except they've got a nasty combination of ambition, greed, some feelings of superiority, and some bad decision making skills in the mix. Smart, clever? Sure! Talented? Definitely. But she's liable to do things she knows are bad ideas because of pride or wanting to prove she actually is awesome at what she does.

Concerning nobody pursuing her: they did, for a time. The trouble was the man that saw her didn't get a great glimpse of her, and while the organization knew her father had a daughter, they eventually called off the search because: 1) months went by and nobody found her, 2) she was a merchant's brat that might not even survive the streets, and 3) if she did eventually turn up, they could off her. They certainly wouldn't have thought some punk thief was actually the man's daughter.

(Oh, and you'll notice I've been referring to her by her nickname. I should've written that part in, but: she originally went by Gabriela, but was told "hey, just cut it to Gabby and you'll be safer" by the guild.)

Now, all that said: I'm more than happy to go back and make changes if you think I should. The same goes for the dagger and the skills; indeed, I toyed with it not having been enchanted yet, or her having failed to even get the dagger... but I decided to leave the dagger with her in case some headhunting RP was desired. She has a shiny knife and she's darned well going to keep it, even if it's a giant signal that "HEY! There's a wanted lady over here!"

Skills: I'd be happy to drop those to Adept, but I thought along the same lines you did. Maybe I could just leave Thievery at Professional? It basically covers cutting purses, picking pockets, picking locks, that sort of thing. Stealth would be her ability to actually hide from bad things, and given her personality... I feel like it's something she'd be fairly, you know, counter to her personality.

Worst comes to worst? I can either make an entirely new character (so you don't have two thieves on the table) or revise her to be something different. A few changes in backstory could leave her a character I'd enjoy still. For instance: she could be a young merchant that happens to have a few black market connections through her father; she could be a fledgling mage that thinks she can do whatever the Hell she pleases; or she could have fled to a nunnery (heh) and become a highly learned scholar but one that didn't take to the whole "God / the gods have a plan for all of us" thing too well.

Thoughts? Make edits or change the character? It's not too much work either way.

EDIT: As an aside, whatever I do with this character, she won't be one of the "heart of gold" types. The point is to have someone that is definitely useful to have around, but is self-centered in the end. She could, potentially, go through character development that makes her more of a, you know, decent person... or she could have her beliefs that everyone else is awful solidified. I just want to have someone that is all about "me" on the onset at the least.
I like that thought. I'll give that a shot and start on a nation sheet.
Is this still open? I'd like to express interest. The concept I have in mind is a faction of rioters, demonstrators and cultists that believe the ancient Marshans are speaking to them and want them to either make the people of Mars more at harmony with the planet or else remove them from the planet. They'd be purposely digging for old Marshan artifacts, believing they hold some sort of power that can be used against everyone else. (I'm assuming such a power doesn't exist, and that works.)

If that's a bit too oddball, I'm also interested in making a newly-freed (thanks to the fall of Earth's central government) penal colony of miners and metalworkers that would be 100% happy to bargain with thieves, pirates and the black market. They'd be a colony with the potential to become pirates or mercenaries. The base would probably be an underground mining complex that's been turned into home.
Okay. I'm REALLY unsure about the last part of the backstory, and I'll happily change it if you don't like it.

Also... Well, crud. Should I make a different character so we don't have two thieves? Hn.

...They have a lot of similarities too. Not physically, and their backgrounds are slightly different, but they're pretty similar otherwise.

EDIT: Made a small edit to the personality section.

For now, I'll rule it half-orc's dont exist. Orcs and Humans are two completely different species. It'd be like dog and cat. I'm still not sure how many(if any) of the other fantasy races I want to introduce to this world.

Works for me.

I've done some chewing and the concept I'm going to work with is a young thief from the Empire with a bounty on her head (thus why she's not in the Empire). Still not done yet, but will post tonight.
I'd like to join. I'm not new to RPing; my account is just very new. I'm just expressing interest now, but I'm working on a character sheet as well.

Thinking about making a shepherd or thief... or both. Leaning toward a female character because the cast is largely male still.

Question: do half-orcs exist? You know, as a result of the atrocities of war. If they do, what would they look like / are they killed at birth because orc? (If killed at birth, then that'd make them unplayable, obviously, so adding that too.)
