The year is 1950 and the world is very much recovering from the most destructive war in human history. With the introduction of nuclear technology tensions between the great powers only heated up, potentially leading to the introduction of something much greater or perhaps destructive. What this is, only time will tell...

So yes, as you have most likely guessed this is a historical based Cold War NRP. All history up to 1950 has happened, but anything after is at the discretion of the player. One rule I will point out right away, however, is that regime changes are generally frowned upon. If you start as a NATO aligned country then realistically you're not going to turn communist(besides, I think American forces would intervene before that happened). Same also applies to those playing Warsaw Pact. Failed uprisings are allowed, however. Sorry, I just had to make it clear since these RPs have died in the past due to all the players shifting to one side.

I am not saying it as a bad thing but if you choose a non-european country intrraction may be harder.

Not really. Places like China were pretty prominent during the Cold War.

This seems euro centruc and if most people are going NATO then I may go Poland to help balance.

Well you don't have to play a European country. You can play anywhere really. Also, if it seems Eurocentric that's because most people in this thread are either North American or European, hah.

As long as I get the USSR I am a happy man.

Since I want East Germany and you asked first then you probably will get USSR.

As I said, just kick them from the game if they try. It's what I'd do.

Yea, I might have to since having everybody on one side will just ruin the RP. With that said, I'll like a balance here. It seems so far most people want NATO aligned countries. Some of them may have to settle for Warsaw Pact, depending on how much more interest we get.
As for time period, I'm considering having us start in 1950 or so. That gives us plenty of time to develop things I think. All history up until 1950 would have happened obviously, but everything after is dependent on what happens in the game. Also, to avoid all players going to one side, if you want to stage a revolution most likely it'll be a failed revolution. We have a balance of power to keep in order for it to be a true cold war.
Whoa, lot's of interest in this. This is perfect. Also, thanks for the lists. I'll take that into consideration in the OOC. I'm personally aiming for East Germany so if somebody wants West Germany that'd be great.

I'm up for it. would prefer historical. I don't mind helping to research stats but I would be a poor co-gm.

I think most people here want to settle for some historical based real-world scenario anyway so you're in luck.

Fair enough.

If I can't find somebody then chances are outcomes are just going to be decided by dice roll. I think that would be logical in most cases unless there's a battle between a small country and, say, the USA.

Cool. :)Would battles be decided by a dice roll or a comparison of Military statistics or a mix of both?

I'm no good with numbers so only way we could get into complicated stats was if I had a co-GM who could do it.
