Richard frowned. The train’s whistle blew as students filed onto the impressive red locomotive that seemed to have jumped straight out of the 1860s. His mother had a hand on his shoulder as she pressed him steadily forward. She was nervous and the reasons were plain. They were the same reasons that his father had been putting an inordinate number of hours in at the office. The hushed whispers and muttered breathes were impossible to block out. Richard had done his best to ignore them, and he and his mother hadn’t lingered long enough to hear what the actual words were. Likely they were of an ugly sort. Mean words aside, Richard was still excited. It was going to be his first year at school and he wasn’t going to let this lot spoil it for him.

His mother hadn’t let him linger long enough to hear anything that anyone said. They had navigated quickly across the bustling platforms of King’s Cross and passed straight through barrier. He eyes went wide as they absorbed the crowd.

“Your father’s going to be disappointed that he couldn’t make it, but you-”

“I know,” Richard said, cutting his mother off. “I understand, Mum. You don’t have to worry,” he reassured her. She stroked his hair and they briefly embraced. He squeezed her tight, somewhat afraid to let go. Most of his friends were a year or two younger than him, so for the first time in a long time, Richard was going to be by himself.

“Be sure to write,” she said.

“Or course.”

“Alright. Well off you go then!” She smiled and urged him toward the express. Richard nodded, hefted his trunk, and walked towards the train. An older boy, probably in his last year lifted the trunk from his hands and let him bored before handing it back to him. Richard nodded thanks, but the tall boy seemed preoccupied looking through the crowd. There was a badge pinned to his chest with the letters HB emblazoned on it.

Richard passed through the carts and made it to a compartment that looked as good as any other and opened the door up. Two girls, mirror-images of one another, looked up at him. He scratched the back of his head. They looked about his age, maybe this was their first year too. “This compartment isn’t full, is it?”
Is anyone writing anything for the door opening in Kirah's last scene? If not, I'd like to take it.
Phelix is a great character by the way. Very well thought out.

Does Jeff Robert's picture look a little too old for him to anyone?

Not gonna lie, I struggled looking through pictures. It's just not my thing. That's Josh Lucas from a Beautiful Mind. His character's in his early twenties and in college. He's probably late twenties in reality. But I felt he looked only a little old and I liked the aesthetic.
This thread makes me want to re-read the books, but between student-teaching and seminars, I just wouldn't have the time.

Edit: Picture showing up now?

Jeff is ambitious but not slytherin, his choice? Being a slytherin does not make one evil or dark, just cunning and ambitious.

Well, it's more an issue of his idealism. Will he fix political corruption? It's not likely, but he's brave enough to want to go in without fear of what happens to him in the long run. That and I'm trying to balance things out with houses.
Damn, thanks for telling me. I'll fix it.

Name: Jeff Roberts
Age: 17
Year: Seventh

Gender: Male

House: Gryffindor (Head Boy)
Magical Heritage: Pure-blood

Personality: Jeff is a popular student and this is mostly due to his personality. He is as affable as anyone you will ever meet and this is largely due to him being a genuinely nice person. He's friends with all of the older students and he's helpful to all of the younger students. His professors see him as a model pupil and example that all should follow. He was prefect in both his fifth and sixth year and nobody was surprised when he was appointed Head Boy. His charm is something that he gets from his father, who is a career politician and holds the British seat on the International Confederation of Wizards. His mother is a beautiful socialite. Between the two of them, Jeff gets his most important trait: ambition.

Being good looking, young, and talented, no one doubts that Jeff will be a fast riser once he leaves Hogwarts, but the perception everyone else has of him is far more limited than that of his own perception. His ambition isn't a dark one though. He's been strongly against the traditional governmental structure that has ruled Britain, and many other countries for centuries. He wants to root out the corruption that has run rampant through the magical government for years. In Jeff's mind, the only way to accomplish such a feat involves making major political gains.

Assets: His wand. Eleven and a half inches of holly wood with a unicorn hair core. He owns a large barn owl named John.

Special Gifts and Abilities: Highly intelligent. Make great marks in all of his classes. Talented with practical magic, having been part of the dueling club for a few years before his responsibilities as a prefect forced him to quit. He's okay on a broom, but he'd prefer not to if possible. Bar none though, his best gift is his charisma, which few people can resist.

Edit: Seems a little perfect, but that's kind of the point. He's got some serious flaws though. I'm sure y'all know the type from back in high school.
If I did another character, I was thinking about making him Head Boy. I was wondering that would be alright, just curious.
Name: Richard "Richie" Corbeaux
Age: 12 (second year)
Gender: Male
Appearance:

House: Hufflepuff
Magical Heritage: Pure-blood

Personality: Richie's a nervous kid. He's as awkward as you'd imagine most eleven year old boys are and he's doing what he can to try and fit in. His family is originally from France, but his grandparents moved to England before his parents were born. He doesn't from money, but his family isn't poor; they get by reasonably well on his father's wages as a court clerk for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

He's got a couple of younger siblings, and his passions include watching/playing quidditch around his village whenever he gets the chance and spending time with his mates. He's not a genius, but he does well in school.

Assets: 10 inch Oak wand with a dragon heart string core.

Special Gifts and Abilities:

Decent flyer, determined, and passable French he learned from his dad/grandparents (determined not to go full English).
