Personality: In a sentence, one could say Joshua is a loud and abrasive. It takes time to get used to his brand of dark humor, almost scandalous language, a very short fuse, and little care to make anything better than what it is. If something sucks it sucks, you'll just have to carry on and deal with it is what he tends to go by when faced with hardships. He can't stand people that lie, much so because he himself has issues lying about anything, even the most innocent and simple of lies, Joshua has issues telling them unless its all for a good joke. He has a very compassionate, caring side that he keeps locked away, rather to let people dig to try and find it, rather let someone see it, and then possibly toy with him. His abrasiveness also supported with the mentality that if you want it done, do it yourself and if people tell you to do something that has to be done. Do it, though you can tell them your mind on the matter anytime you want to, provided it gets done on time and done right.

Background & History: Joshua grew up to a military family, his father in the United States Air Force. He traveled around the US and Western Europe, living in England and Iceland, along with living in California, North Carolina, Indiana and finally moving to Kentucky for his Freshman year. His schooling was rather boring, he skimmed by most of high school however never got into any trouble, always keeping his nose clean.
His life changed when he joined the Army, only to be discharged 6-months later due to his inability to take and pass the APFT. His eyes had been opened up to the real world, he walked with more determination, he spoke allot more confidently, and had improved many times over in general. He got a job at a local Gamestop though a few friends he knew that worked there. Within a few months his drive for more, imprinted in him by the US Army, pushed him to do many things they would never dream of. He lucky and got transferred to a store halfway across the nation to California instead of Kentucky.
When the infection broke out, he gather all of the military gear he had collected and built a good solid loadout with it. Grabbing a Glock 17 off a fallen police officer, he proceed to leave his home, driven to find a safe place to hide from the undead hordes.

In 2013, one of the largest and deadliest plagues known to man hit with a force few could explain. From its many dead arose ranks of the formerly living, many of which were still luke-warm, the life having been shot from their bodies. What lifted from the dead knew no family, knew no mercy and knew no command. They advanced to consume, to attack, to feed. Within the first infected human rising and the last 'safe-zone' falling was a matter of only eighteen months in the United States, twenty months overseas.
In the United States, the infected hordes seemed to never end. Our armies and police forces responded with a force none had seen, however this force was conventional. Battle lines, static defenses and every single piece of large-scale military thinking thrown together in a desperate defense plan. The military did their job well, they performed every mission with their objective meet. However it proved useless. Every street cleared quickly filled, every city burned to the ground by tens of thousands of pounds of air-borne high-explosives seemed to only make the infected pop up in twenty more. Even cloud of nuclear fire, millions of humans and infected incinerated in the blink of an eye seemed only to damage the environment for humanity.
Quickly, safe-zones collapsed. What military was left either fed to the many bases the US held overseas or simply ran off, to become a bandit, survivor, of protector of whatever they could protect. Settlements began to raise up, were the safe-zones failed with their defense, these either large, well-stocked forts or hidden, almost impossible to find bunkers began to pop-up. Many wouldn't survive the first few weeks of being established. Rival human gangs or hordes of infected would put an end to the settlement before it could even get its feed wet in the water of rebuilding.
Its only been two years since the outbreak. The fires in many cities still burn from the bombers and missiles of the military, some cities are flooded like New Orleans, some leveled with a radioactive poisoning like New York. Others stand, active monuments to humanities decay like Washington D.C.
In Middle America, in the either hilly, grassy fields, forested nightmares or urban sprawls of the Ohio/Indiana/Kentucky tri-state area, life takes a small role of its own. Cincinnati was decicated in a large-scale bombing. Dozens of strike and strategic bombers flew day and a night sorties over it, leveling a great deal of the city into a smoldering ruin. The bridges all along the Ohio River detonated and the only way across to swim or use a boat.
Over the river in Ohio, the world quickly became an anarchic hell. Along the river, near Cincinnati, allot of the survivors were gang members, as a good portion of the rather-liberal society opposed gun-ownership. The gang members went though their neighborhoods, causing all kinds of battles with both the infected and their fellow man. The entire area of Cincinnati and the out-laying areas can be considered safe against the infected, however your human is the biggest threat.
Beyond that, Ohio slumps into a average survivor's life. Limited resources, small settlements and a number of hidden stations for both supplies and to live in.
In Kentucky, things are much different. Lexington, Louisville, they were damaged but not leveled by the military and are mostly abandoned by their former occupants, now staffed by the crazy-insane or the undead. The cities are told to hold a treasure trove of supplies and materials, from former military equipment to years worth of food and medicine not yet claimed.
