Penetration is not the only problem though. Even if the armour manages to stop the head going though, the kinetic impact doesn't just vanish, and in most cases is enough to knock the wind out of someone, at bare minimum. The worst case is that it can fracture bones without even going though.
Maybe it would deflect a stone from a sling, but javelins and arrows deliver enough impact that it is hard to deflect them without getting hurt, with medieval technology.

Could we have in broad terms which missile weapons are effective against which armor types?

Most missile weapons are effective against armour types. Even if they don't penetrate, your liable to break the person's ribs, and it's real hard to swing a sword with broken ribs.

I guess virtually wrecking new guys is a thing here.My feelings, they are hurt.

*Pokes Alupi* How about your arm?

I think it's kinda both, because Luffy does seem to use it without any sign of activating but Rayleigh also used it actively to see people's auras

So, do you think the Lesser-Clairvoyance is a passive and seeing peoples Auras is an active?

*Lariats Alupi and breaks his shoulder, then his elbow, then dislocates the arm*

One of observations Hakis thing is sensing auras though. besides you got it to so can't really say much XD

Which meant that her movement should have been noticed, but it wasn't. She just appeared outside.

Plus, leads me to thinking, is Observation Haki a passive? Armourment Haki is always been shouted out, loudly, before use, but Observation Haki has never actually been 'activated' by Luffy.
To be fair, you look at the auras and found one missing, so you didn't know she was gone until you looked. Which says Fushaka is as sneaky as she thinks, but your Haki gives a rather unfair advantage to the whole thing. So nyeh.
