Whelp, colour me inspired. It's actually nice for people to be like, "Fuck moping about and bitching about how great things used to be, let's actually try". I should get back on my cartoon reviews. People seem to enjoy those.

Yeah, that's what I got out of it. It was kind of cool to see.

But maybe I should stop visiting Spam so late at night. I dunno. :/

But yea, I find it odd how after a regeneration the doctor often has to completely abandon old friends.I get why from a writing stand point, but logically he's still the doctor. He still knows and cares for those people, they are still able to interact and do shit together.Hell David Tenant and Sarah Jane are a giant proof of that. Sarah was a companion back with Tom Baker which was 6 regeneration's ago and they still hit off fine.

Well to be fair, most companions are given a good reason for leaving and not returning, ie getting trapped in another dimension, losing their memory, getting attacked by weeping angels, etc...

To be fair he's had about 1,000 years since then to reflect on that stance. At the same time his personality change's each regeneration, his general philosophy and friendships are the same, but personality and some outlooks change. And lastly, he wasn't even the one who chose to get the extra regeneration but had to given/forced on him when Clara asked the other time lords for aid.

Logically I understand that, but the irony of it still kills me.

Plus, I don't care if Eleven didn't personally seek out those extra regenerations, he still wasn't too happy to die and he sure was thrilled when more came pouring in.

I do believe that is the group that we are tracking. The three of them were in the entrance hall at some point. However, there wasn't really a room specified that we just entered into, so I'm confused.

Wait... aren't you the one leading the duo? Bellua seems to know where he's headed.

This is the main reason I don't like 1x1s. If someone flakes out, the game is done. At least with group RPs, if one goes, there's a better chance of the story staying together. Even if it's the GM that goes, if the story is fun and others want to continue, there's a chance it won't die.

I'll second this. It's the reason why I'm rarely comfortable doing 1x1's.

I've done group RP's long enough to know that drop-outs are just a part of the game. They're pretty much inevitable. But, experience has left me fairly confident in my ability to work around player absences and keep the story moving, so long as there are still enough players remaining to run an RP. But with a 1x1, you can't do that. You're relying entirely on one person whom you've presumably just met and whose RPing styles and habits you don't know yet. The whole thing just feels... unstable, to me. Like a jenga tower supported by only a single block on the bottom row.

In a group RP, there's almost always one person who has to drop out right when the IC starts. But at least all your hard work doesn't go to waste because of them.
Well that depends on what you mean by "how it was before".

If you mean before Guildfall, then yeah I'm sure; Guild activity has decreased across-the-board since then. And it probably doesn't help that there is no subforum specifically fore shops/requests, as it's now all in one Gallery. The setup doesn't really encourage people to start shops like the oldGuild setup did. (But if "before" means "a week ago" then it's probably just your imagination.)

Anyway, while I, personally, don't have time to set up a full-blown shop, I might be able to help you out if you want a signature or something. I could use the practice.

sooo, i'm not entirely sure who's footsteps Rae and Bellua are followinganyone mind telling me who in the school had been walking around alone?i'm reading through myself to find out but it would helpful if someone who knew could tell me.

I'm assuming he's going down the path that Leon/Rose/Euclid took but I could be mistaken. You might want to check with Euclid.
Alright, so I've got a late-night thought to lay on the table;

Does fandom mentality make a series less enjoyable?

I'm not talking about obnoxious fans who storm the internet and make you embarrassed to admit you like something; I just mean the way "dedicated" fans of something will so heavily criticize certain parts of a series they so "love" and claim that a creative choice that maybe deviates from the norm has "ruined" that series.

Now I know that the series I'm about to use as an example is one that can be really... "controversial" for lack of a better term, but it's what made me think of it so I'm going with it anyway. Earlier today I finally got around to watching the MLP season 4 finale that was sitting on my DVR (I realize 90% of you have probably stopped reading by now), and I, personally, kind of liked the magical girl-esque transformation sequence in the climax. The unexpectedness of it plus the sheer craziness of all that magic going around was pretty enjoyable to watch. And I kind of liked the designs, too. But now I'm learning that apparently that's a really unpopular opinion among MLP fans and everyone's raging about the transformations and letting that ruin the finale for them.

I mean transformations notwithstanding, all I could think about when I watched most of that finale was how unexpectedly intense the plot got, how great the animation was, etc... if the transformation was cut out I bet a lot more people would've liked it. I mean that animation was gorgeous, all through the finale. So, does fandom mentality make a series harder to enjoy? Is it wrong to so heavily criticize something like that if it makes it hard to enjoy any other part of it? Can you really call yourself a fan of something if you're tearing it apart?

Why am I even posting about this. I'm in a weird mood tonight.

So I watched all but Name of the Doctor and there after, took a break, and my fiancé got into Who. We watched the 2005- series and she was hooked, had to stream Time of the Doctor, and now I'm waiting to see 13 in action. In watching so much of this show, I have to admit, I am seriously disappointed we don't see more Jack Harkness, Ricky, or Martha returns. They all work/ed for Torchwood or UNIT in some form, and I really think they should become regular additions whenever the groups come into play. I understand they don't want to overplay those organizations since they were so intertwined earlier in the show, but really, please? Also, was Torchwood actually cancelled? I really fell in love with the gritty, dark sci-fi perspective of the Whoverse and would be surprised if it was considering shows like Sleep Hollow, CSI, Hannibal, and soon to be Constantine are up and around.

Since there won't be any new episodes until this fall, I recommend trying out the Classic series while you wait.

I personally have only seen about two dozen episodes of it so far, and not all in order (actually I've been jumping around quite a bit), but I like a lot of what I've seen.

It's definitely a very different sort of show, though. TV in general was a lot different back then, I suppose, so that's something to keep in mind when going into it. In fact, I recommend starting with a Tom Baker episode instead of starting right at the very beginning of the Classic series. That should help ease you into it better so the drastic change isn't as much of a shock. (Be prepared for some laughable special effects, though. )

But yeah, Classic Who has a lot of interesting stuff to offer - like the fact that it's all pre-Time War, so there are lots of other Time Lords running around the universe. Also, there are quite a few things that come up that are just painfully ironic when you consider the events of more recent episodes. For example, after learning that the Master had obtained 13 more regenerations,

The Fourth Doctor said All Time Lords have to come to terms with the end of their regeneration cycle eventually. It's something we all have to deal with. Any Time Lord who cheats death by obtaining more regenerations is a coward.

At which point I was pretty much yelling at my TV, "DOCTOR PLEASE STOP TALKING".

But yeah, plenty of interesting stuff happens in Classic Who. That's what I've been watching to constantly supply myself with a Doctor Who fix until the new season starts in September.
Ahhhh that avatar.
Oh hey. The old RPG logo. Thanks; I needed that.
