most spells used through a focus only work while the wizard is focused on them ( kind of why they are called focuses ) most wizardly spells that are done on the fly or quickly only last as long as their casters power and focus allow. For long lasting things that requires more ritual and time. That is why I feel like this would make more sense. Having both of those spells on one small item would be quite the feat but they way I built Ragen I feel like it could be done. Not easy and she wouldn't have a lot of those sorts of things just laying around, but she could do it.

Small items have advantages and disadvantages. They are less cumbersome, clumsy, and very easily concealed. They are often depicted as quicker to fire up as well, the force rings just go BOOM with a thought where as his shield bracelet takes more time/effort and any workings with his staff takes even more time and effort.

But, on the other hand they are easier to over load ( Like, if you tried using this ring to hold a dragon in place it probably wouldn't be able to handle that kind of strain. Like wise if you had to hold a shield to long against an extra powerful force.) they also tend to be less flexible tools. ( dresden can do all kinds of shit with his staff but his force rings only shoot force, the blasting rod only does blasts, ect )

god I could go on all day about my interpretations of the mechanics of the Dresden world xD
From my understanding of the mechanics of magic it is unlikely that there would be a magical item as generally simple as a ring could do something like a double weight enchantment as a passive effect of the shield. I think mechanically it would be more likely that the ring is a double focus ( Ragen could probably make a tool like that ) Part kenitomance physical shield part terramancy gravity focus. Focus on the shield spell and you get the shield out of it focus on the terramancy spell and you get perhaps a spell that increases the weight of a target as long as you hold the spell in place. I could see it being a handy tool to give to a hard headed puiple who likes to follow their mentor into danger situations. Protect you from monsters or slow them down enough for you to pull out a escape or attack potion or something.
I don't want to stifle your creativity, make what ever kind of mage you'd like.

Master and apprentice don't have to necessarily have complimentary magic strengths, from what I understand it isn't uncommon to give wizards apprentice in areas of expertise that are outside their own, forcing them to expand their expertise to better serve their apprentice ( and round out their own skills better )
Its rare but it has been done, especially if the apritances have a gift for the sort of combat magics required to be a warden.

and the way I built Regan would mean that she's the sort of warden that would be one of two places: At home base building and healing ( so plenty of time for apprenticing ) or out on the front lines fighting and healing ( Stay home and work on these projects and I swear to god if you sneak into a combat zone after me again I will up and turn your ass into grass. Literally. )
Regan with an apprentice sounds like the best worst idea ever. I'd be down.
I know i'm not the GM and this is probably If I could suggest maybe instead of exactly like 3 eye its like a 3 eye plus? Like not only does it temp open up the magical sight but temp gives them access to raw magical talent like nothing complicated but classical evocations stuff ( fire, force, frost, ect. ) but given their lack of knowledge and information, they don't know the steps to protect thier minds from the magical back lash of using magic ( not to mention that natural mental damage that happens with having unrestrianed sight open ) so they could be highly addicted, highly unstable, and highly dangerous mo-fo's.

Given the big "K"s level of power and skill I feel like it being something far more potent and dangerious than 3 eye was would make some sense, especially if it was intended to be a war tool.

-edit-

ah never mind the DM has spoken, though something like ^ could be a good idea to throw around for a background or side plot.
Oh man having a vanilla mortal would be really cool actually... Like I'm wagering a large part of this would take place in the Europe given that was our big bad's stomping ground especially after WW2.

like...this area and time period a really cool human role would be a cold war spy, who following rumors of mysterious activities (( assuming some new weapon or tactic of his rival nation )) and stumbles into the still raging supernatural conflict happening in the shadows of the mortal world.

If somebody wants to use this idea go for it, but if nobody wants this idea I'll scrap my warden and play this role :D
Awesome! I'll have a warden up tomorrow

Also, a detail I just remembered worth mentioning; listens to wind is also the WC's head of healing/medicine with skills both magical and mundane ( I beleive it's mentioned he has like 7 doctor degrees and he goes back to school every few decades to stay up to date )
