"All the better for me then, and I wear it far better than you." She said with a smile, watching as he crawled into the shaft. Turning to Nicholas, she explained "Someone has taken something of mine - setting off the sprinklers in the process - I want it back. However, first he needs to be found." Having Flood do the hard work was a bonus she hadn't expected, so with a playful nod to Nicholas she kicked the half open class door and burst in, looking around.
The look on her face suggested it was one of the dumbest lines she had had said to her. She didn't have time to reaffirm that though as he quickly spun and slammed his staff. "I don't think it counts as improvisation when you have the weapons on you!" She shouted through the smoke, just before the sprinklers began to rain water on her. She only rolled her eyes, and allowed the water to clear the hallway of both smoke and students. Kat quickly clocked both the possible escape routes and sighed at the vent. She did not want to be scrabbling about the innards of the school. Before she could make a decision though Flood walked up, shooting at the sprinkler. Bracing against the extra water she turned to him with hair and clothing clinging to her pale skin. "No. I did not." Her words were clipped by her annoyance, but quickly suppressed that. "But if you help me find who did, I'd be in your debt." She stepped forward towards him and pointed towards the grate. "Just head into the shaft and tell me if you find a rat... I don't mean an actual rat."
The kiss made her feel nothing - maybe that was sad but it was definitely a thought for another time - but it definitely worked as a distraction. She didn't have to wait for his flaunting to notice what had happened, the glaring blankness of the table was immediately evident to her. Kat looked up to the doorway as he disappeared and had to decide then and there what to do. If she was another girl she would go straight to an authority figure; the case was damning when spun the right way which would be easy enough. But she was not another girl and the weak, vulnerable act wouldn't work around here. Instead she stood and walked - not run - out and into the halls. Unfortunately for Lee she had been in attendance for far longer than she liked, she knew the building inside and out. Seeing the way he ran off Kat ducked in the opposite direction, expertly navigating her way around. She briefly considered meeting him with fire but the set-up would be no where near the payoff; that was just the dramatic flair that would get her killed one day. She walked out in time to see Lee turn the corner and stood her ground, blocking his way as those who were around quickly scuttled away. "That was a neat trick but it won't work twice. Seems a shame to waste it on a book you can't read." One look at him now showed the contents of the book were secondary to its worth. She noted his staff but drew no weapon of her own, it would only reveal a power of hers anyway which she would forestall for as long as possible. Keep your hands clean. "Give it back, or we start playing the game by my rules. And here I was thinking we were on the same team..." As she stood tall before him she considered the many responses and briefly wondered whose word would be believed: the thief or the deceiver.
"I don't intend too. I rather like the name Kat actually." Lee responded back with a small mischievous smile. "Though I have to agree the atmosphere of this entire place is as you say mind-numbing. It may as well be a prison instead of a school." Lee said with a bored sigh looking around the cafeteria as the various peer groups converse with one another. "Instead of drifting along with the current. Would you instead like to make a few ripples?" He suggested the grin forming back on his face as he watched her continue to eat before taking another bite out of his apple and swallowing. "Its just something to muse over." Lee said with a shrug. "If this routine truly bores you I may be able to help break it. I can start the fire...but will you throw the wood and gas onto it?" he asked with a small smile
They certainly weren't following the usual script. 'Who are your parents? What are your powers?' Change could be refreshing, change could be dangerous. He was just a cock-sure teenager with something to prove. Then again it could be too much of a coincidence, the stranger who seemed to already know so much. She listened to his proposal showing no obvious signs of interest or disinterest, tearing the bread to pieces as she ate. Kat wasn't here to make friends, but she wasn't here to make enemies either. Clean hands, that's what's important. She was quiet only for a moment, before she turned to look at him again. "You're the one who claims to be so great at reading people. Are you willing to test it? Throw me something curious and find out." She said with a smirk. "But remember, boys who play with fire get their fingers burnt." It wasn't a threat, that much was clear, maybe a warning was is more apt.
"Because why not Kat?" Lee asked drawing out her name in the same manner. "I do not prefer interacting with large groups at once. Its too much noise and confusion. Something I do not enjoy dealing with." He said. "Besides...your not the same as the others are you? No...I can see it in your eyes. You seem to get a thrill out of trouble don't you? You don't directly cause it though, after all if you did you would not be sitting by yourself. No you prefer it when something curious comes to you. Then like a fire with wood thrown on it, you watch as your work increases the flames." Lee said enjoying the conversation he was having with this young woman "Its not anarchy you enjoy to cause. No its more...mischievous I think. After all that's what you are trying to do now isn't it? Lure me in by drawing ever so gently closer with that sweet smile on your face. Your wanting to see how I will react to such action." Lee concluded with a small chuckle. "Im an avid reader myself. Though instead of books I prefer reading people. I can tell beneath that pretty face and that sweet smile is someone who is different from everyone else here and doesn't deny it one moment. You are someone that enjoys living by your own code and not another's. You do not follow others morals nor do you condemn them for their beliefs. You are a very unique shade of gray." Lee said not breaking eye contact with her own eyes. "You are a very interesting read." He concluded.
She didn't flinch at his deft report, but her mind was whirring far quicker than before. He recognised her - or her father. As true to her as they were, his words were vague enough they could apply to him also. They looked alike, she knew as much and he'd seen the book which was another huge indicator. She wasn't hiding either; it was entirely possible she threw on something Asgardian this morning, hair rings or jewelry, but enough that she might has well written it across her face for anyone who cared to see. Gods, this place was dulling her. Then again, maybe she was over thinking it. She was bored and recent events had only made her realise as such; one might think it would be enough to sate her for now but it had only made her miss the world she had left behind even more. Who was to say that need wasn't radiating off her, hanging in the air about her as an almost physical presence. Stranger things had happened. But for now she couldn't know the truth, now was the time to walk between the two. She gave a light laugh, looking away for a moment as she straightened up. "You got me but can you really blame a girl for trying? The monotony around here, it's mind-numbing. Yet everyone seems content to drift along." She gave a small shrug and tore off a small piece of bread and popped it in her mouth. "Don't ever call me grey though."
Connor is with Kijani, not Devika, but they're both played by Dizzy which is where the confusion arises :)
Well, he certainly was sure of himself. She quickly looked to the clock, there was time so why not fight fire with fire? Or whatever other banal phrase they used with abundance round here. She leaned forward matching his grin with a soft smile which was not wholly innocent. "For now, you can call me Kat. So tell me Lee" she said, drawing out his name "there are plenty of people around, why talk to me?" Oh validate me white knight, and confirm your importance. It was so cliche it was almost embarrassing if it were not so easy.
She didn't allow herself to be distracted by the apple, instead keeping her eyes on him as he broke down her behaviour, analysed her. It was telling, true, but not just about her. Condident - well, arrogant- and smug, bold and boastful; but then again, why let him know as such. People had been trying to read her for as long as she had been trying to read others and in that time she had only improved in both learning others secrets and hiding her own. "It hardly seems fair that you already know so much of me, yet I do not even know your face." And he was a new face, that much she was certain. Then again, she wasn't going to be a complete pushover. "And as for that, how about you keep talking and see how many words you can get in before I throw you across the room?" She smiled sweetly and her tone was light, which only served to make it more confusing as to the intention behind the words. She was most likely joking, but then again...?
"Interesting book you are reading." She stopped reading as soon as she heard the voice, but didn't immediately look up. Her eyes narrowed slightly as they flicked to the side, picking out his figure, but the look was one of amusement above anything else. She waited until he finished before looking up, straight into his eyes. "How could you possibly know? It's not like you can read it." She said, as she closed the book softly. "And do I really look like that kind of girl?" She asked, with a quirk of her brows that suggested it was more of a challenge than a question.
The light shone through the cheap curtains, but it was the smell of coffee which truly woke her. Sitting up she wrapped the duvet around her and walked out of the bedroom and flopped on to the couch. “What’s the time?” “Late enough that you need to hurry up and make like a good little school girl.” Come the smug reply, as Aidan held out a mug. Kat rolled her eyes, but took the mug as she simply said “Droll and droller.” before taking a sip, but keeping her eyes on him. “You going to stay for breakfast?” He asked as he sat with his own plateful, taking a mouthful himself. “I shouldn’t, don’t want to raise suspicions on where I spend my sordid nights.” She stood, leaving the duvet where it was and placed the mug beside him instead. “Oh yes, the scandal, falling asleep in front of the television, god forbid anyone knows you’re a normal person.” She gave him a playful shove and stole a rasher of bacon before disappearing back into the bedroom to change.

Kat walked through the gates of the academy and into the building, navigating the halls with a practiced boredom. The earphones helped stop her look quite so coarse while simultaneously blocking out the mundane discussions that she would be forced to hear fleetingly otherwise. Ultimately ending up in the cafeteria she picked up some hot bread and honey, before taking a seat and opening a book, lazily flicking through the pages.
