She did not take kindly to being called a monster. Looking around at what the world had become the monsters were clear and it certainly wasn't her. But she couldn't do anything, not with Phoebe here, no matter how much he deserved it. She glared at his back as he left only to turn back and see Phoebe collapsing to the ground. She knelt beside her, wrapping her arms around her. "It's ok, it'll be ok. I'm so sorry, but I'm here now." She said in a comforting hushed tone.
(Sorry, was craving crumpets :P)

Ivy had stepped back and kept quiet throughout, she didn't want to interfere as that would be what Phoebe would always remember. She didn't want to cause her pain, she only wanted what was best for her, to help her, to be the mother she had not had the chance to be. And then Phoebe turned away from him, and she held out her hand for her to take. She had counted for the fact she would feel so strongly for someone but she was glad she had chosen her mother.
Their naivety could be considered endearing, but it was hopelessly unrealistic. She turned to Ryan first. "And how long are we supposed to train in secret for? Hiding in the shadows and leaving secret messages, it won't work, we'll be found regardless of whether you tell or not." She then turned her attention to Phoebe. "And no, we really can't. You're my daughter, they can't stop you coming with me. If we take him, however, in their eyes I've kidnapped the child of a super."
Checking back to Phoebe she then turned back to Ryan and watched as she released him, the vines sinking back into the ground. She stepped back, looking between the two. They may think it was love but they were young, and love was something which came and left easily when you are young, she knew that much. She folded her arms in front of her. "Well, we cannot take him with us."
When Phoebe agreed she gave a huge smile. "You'll love it there, I promise, it'll be like living in your garden just so much bigger, you can eve-" but she was cut off by a boy running towards them. Suddenly vines leapt up from the ground and wrapped around him, holding him back. She turned her eyes to him, a lot of the warmth she had shown Phoebe having gone. "Why are you spying on us?!" He must be working for Bruce, of course he would try and stop this.
She was quiet for a moment, wondering how Phoebe would take what she was about to say. "Come with me." She said eventually. "These powers are unique to us, so who better to teach you but me?" She had come to see her, called her mother, surely this wasn't so big of a leap? It will be how it should have been for all the years they were apart. Hearing a sound to the side, she snapped her head round, but the light stopped her from being able to see much. She returned to Phoebe but paid half her attention now to the area the sound had come from.
"No, I know, I'm not saying you can't, it's just.." She paused as she tried to rephrase what she had said before. "Well, think about it. They know who you are, who I am, they're not going to help you develop anything they can't handle. They're scared that you'll be as powerful as me, and that they won't be able to control you anymore."
Her smile softened when Phoebe called her 'mother', she wasn't rejecting her despite everything. She noticed how she lit up as she spoke about the garden. "I can see why, it's just.. stunning. I mean if you can do that while here, imagine how great you'd be if being taught to use all that you can achieve."
When she first saw the silhouette approaching she was on guard; there was no way to be sure it was Phoebe. But then she stepped into the light and there was no doubt. "You came." She said, suddenly breaking out into a smile. She crossed the distance and pulled Phoebe into a hug, before getting her thoughts together and letting her go again. She hadn't seen her for her whole life, she might only be here to tell her to go away. "You're so beautiful, and this.." she said, gesturing to the garden around them, "this is amazing."
As the sun began to set, a strangers figure moved in the shadows as the branches of trees bent to conceal her. She headed towards the tropical garden and it was only when she was safely inside that the she stepped out of the shadows. She was undeniably beautiful with an elfin look to her, long red-hair and a green tint to her skin, much more noticeable in her lips. From the shelter of the garden she looked towards the school and waited, praying this had not all been in vain.
