The sun was half-hidden by the horizon by the time their small band of Avatars arrived at Mauville city. Together, they had checked into the festival moments before the stall shut and the officials left. Since it was so late, there wasn’t much sightseeing to be done that night. Aktzin and his Umbreon settled into the hotel room provided, as two of his companions left him behind to take care of ‘business’.

It wasn’t the first time, and it likely wouldn’t be the last. Even on this trip.

Regardless, he slept soundly and rose late, only waking from slumber early afternoon. Salem had other ideas, and getting her to follow on would take several pokes and prods. After a fair bit of persuasion, the two left the hotel - almost - ready to face the day. Breakfast would have been nice, but they stopped serving it several hours before either of them woke. Yet another strange practise that was lost on Aktzin. Why stop serving food so early?

Heading to the central plaza, the glass roof allowed him to truly appreciate the day. The gaping hole played it’s part as well. It was a bright, sunny, breezy… blistering hot day. How much the sun actually played in his discomfort wasn’t clear, but the sweat on his forehead was there regardless. The real reason was more likely the heavy black leather overcoat he wore. It’s back was blazoned with a large skeletal dragon, coloured teal blue, with harsh bolts flaring from it. To those looking for it, the jacket marked him out as the Avatar of Zekrom and was a gift from a friend. A commissioned piece courtesy of some tailor in Fuschia city given to him by one Drystan Graye. He made some mutterings about carrots and sticks as he handed Aktzin the jacket, although the ex-tribal was too focused on the jacket to listen closely. He had various reasons for following him, but the free goodies were a favourite.

Wandering around the first green Aktzin had seen since arriving, he smiled to himself. The garden on the roof was his first destination but it was mostly sealed off as a result of some structural damage. Probably those damned terrorists, he thought to himself. Standing before a large and impressive crystal, the plaque said that it changes colour based on recent events. He wasn’t sure how it worked, but it seemed almost entirely random. Whether that said more about the crystal or recent events remained to be seen.

For the next little while, Aktzin and Salem wandered the attractions the city had to offer. Various shops selling potions, pokeballs and ribbons. Centres offering battles and training. Even a trip to the local gym - where Zekrom had proved a firm favourite due to the electric currents. Finally, he arriving to sign up for the tournament which someone had moved underground without his knowledge. According to some man on the gate, however, signing up had stopped roughly…

Bother”, Aktzin sighed.

Just then, his stomach began to rumble. City humans had such strict deadlines. Without anyone around to show him the way, and with no idea where his friends had run off to, Aktzin headed off in search of food for himself and Salem. Drystan had listed various foods to try and those to avoid but the names had little meaning to him. A quaint little restaurant was close by and so he decided to try his luck there.
Hey everyone. I'm Sickle's younger brother, and the newest addition to the rather misfitted family you have here. C:

I'm around mostly on weekends, but will make sure to post often enough to keep things interesting.
Name: Aktzin Veracruz

Pokemon: Zekrom

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Hometown: Fiore

Level: 31

Ability: Teravolt

Moves: Dragon’s Breath, Thunderbolt, Imprison, Thunder Fang, Ancient Power, Thunder Wave(™)

Legendary powers: As the embodiment of Zekrom, Aktzin can control lightning, producing it at will. He can summon lightning from within his own body, although it will be less powerful than channeling the raw and unfiltered version. Doing so drains his own energy which limits him to smaller and more controlled bursts, and requires him to take in more energy from food and rest. While outdoors, Aktzin can call down lightning strikes from above, which are severely amplified in power during storms.

Held item: Magnet

Appearance:

Personality: Nice once you get to know him, although can be blunt - often rude - until you gain his trust. Fully dedicates himself to battles and doesn’t like to lose. Aktzin will congratulate opponents on a good battle when he wins, but will be distant and annoyed upon being defeated. Opens up only to those who he trusts, but will be a steadfast and loyal friend to those he can rely on. Optimistically faces down challenges taking on the world with an open mind. Aktzin will help those weaker than him, which displeases his Legend to no end, despite him having complete control. Zekrom believes a weak world isn’t one worth saving, and voices his discomfort through making Aktzin feel uneasy, but otherwise continues on, unaware. From learning the ways of his tribe, one of his greatest strengths is the ability to bond with a variety of different pokemon and use them to their fullest capability. The relationship he has with Salem is an example of this, with her using various support abilities during battles involving them both. Aktzin can be overly quiet and naive with people, often missing deeper meanings and misunderstanding idioms and other common phrases. Due to his tribal ideals, he will rarely keep Salem in a pokeball and should the two become separated, Aktzin will be incredibly tense and worried.

Backstory: Aktzin spent his life travelling the Fiore region alongside his family in a nomadic tribal group, who were somewhat reminiscent of the real-world Native American peoples. Any pokemon who worked alongside them were treated with the utmost respect - even revered - which meant Arceus’ Avatar program held a great appeal to them. When one of their own was chosen to represent the pokemon of Ideals, it couldn’t have pleased them more.

Despite the honour, for Aktzin, life rolled on regardless, almost unaware of his newfound powers. The campfires were easier to light, that was one thing, but for him and his loyal pokemon, the caravans would not fix themselves. However, this would not be the last time that a higher power would come calling.

After eight months of being an Avatar, another showed up from far across the seas, looking for him. The man had traced rumours and hearsay in order to locate him, and had a proposition that ‘was sure to tickle the fancy of his dormant legend’, whatever that meant. The offer was fairly simple. A place in a new pantheon of Gods in return for his help and loyalty in the coming months and years until the plan came to fruition. They would rule together, alongside as many other Avatars as they could find. A utopia based purely on the strength of those who would support the pillars, where the Avatars would receive the respect and treatment they so obviously deserved. After a life of roaming the countryside, a change of scenery appealed to Aktzin, and so he decided to throw his lot in with him.

The very nice suit had nothing to do with it.
