The Arcus District, a mega-district of the world that could easily be considered a small country due to its size. It is home to several advanced technologies ranging from the beloved Luxury Tech created to make life easier, to the dreaded Malum Tech created to cause mass destruction. Arcus contains numerous things such as cities, suburbs, and poverty stricken slums, all of which are home to thousands upon thousands of people. Unfortunately, with such a large population comes a high amount of crime, all of which can range from robberies and shootings, to intricate crime operations by shady corporations and destruction by villains.
Among the population, however, exist extraordinary individuals with mindboggling powers and abilities: The Superbeings. They all use their powers for some purpose, whether it be to fight crime and evil to save the day, or carry out evil deeds on the flipside. Sometimes their goals are ambiguous, methods and actions fluctuating between benevolent and malicious.
Arcus District always has something going on both in the open and in secrecy.
First up will be my newest character:

Name: Scorn (original name Lars Zornlich)

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Appearance: Most of Scorn's body is completely covered by the red and black uniforms of the Red Lanterns, save for his head. It would appear that his skin tone is light to medium brown in color, and his black hair is medium length and curly to the point where it would seem that there are hundreds of tiny snakes frozen in place. His eyes burn completely crimson, and while his visage would suggest he was quite comely as a normal human, it has now been altered by both the ring and his own desire to have a rage filled expression and razor sharp teeth. Scorn is tall and well built, and his muscle mass seems to have slightly increased after his Corp initiation. His hands now end in sharp, seemingly metallic claws, as do his feet, and both his shoulders and his knees have a sharp, protruding, curved bone.

Power(s): Red Power Ring

Personality: As if his appearance, name, and Power Ring didn't give it away already, Scorn is a rage and hate filled individual. He is very proud of his power and will not hesitate to crush anyone who opposes him. As a Red Lantern, Scorn has a very brutal and chaotic sense of justice, believing that the best justice is brought about by vengeance and utter destruction of those who are guilty according to Corp standards. Although he either works alone or with a few other Red Lanterns, Scorn will work along with others if he sees no other solution to a situation, and if he feels that the cause is good.

Backstory: Scorn's past is one of intense anger and hate, both for others and himself, mainly because the events that transpired to his personal loss were things that probably could have been easily avoided had he taken proper precautions.
Lars was one day sent by his parents to pick up a couple of groceries and work supplies from a store. Since the house was relatively close by to the store, he neglected to lock the door to the house and left to carry out his errand. Unbeknownst to him though, there was a small group of criminals around who had been prowling around his house for an opportunity to ransack it (it was a rather solitary yet fancy house).
Lars had expected to be back in at most fifteen minutes, but that day there had been an accident on the road and traffic had built up quite a bit. The trip to and back from the store ended up taking him close to an hour, and when he returned home... the sight was not pretty. The front door had been left wide open, and the house was a mess on the inside. Things were broken and scattered everywhere, and anything of value had been taken. But the center of this crime was what remained of his family, battered, bloodied, and dead. His dad and brother had seemed to put up a fight, but they were eventually overcome by the criminals and their weaponry. His mother... well, it was pretty obvious what happened to her before her death....
Rage and grief filled his heart. All of this then coincided with the appearance of another Red Ring on earth, seeking a new being to recruit. Lars was just in the middle of crying out in rage when he heard the recruiting words of the Red Ring: "Lars Zornlich, you have great rage in your heart."
Afterwards... things got messy for a lot of people and cities on earth, until eventually Lars traveled to the planet of Ysmault, sanctuary of the Red Lanterns. From then on he has scoured the galaxy along with his fellow Lanterns in search of injustices to punish, destroying countless lives and cities in the process. Recently he has returned to Earth and has gone into the Arcus District.
Name: Scipio Kathar

Alias: Abaddon

Gender: Male

Age: 18

Appearance 1 (as human):

Appearance 2 (as symbiote Abaddon): Whenever Scipio uses his symbiote to become his "other self", Abaddon, his appearance drastically changes to look nothing short of a demon. The symbiote completely covers his body and visage, giving his being the primary color of pitch black. Abaddon's black body also has some streaks and patterns of crimson red which mainly run along his arms, legs, body, and back. Abaddon also bears a larger, secondary fanged mouth on his torso, and also acquires razor sharp fangs and claws and forms several sharp tendrils from his back. In addition, his posture becomes more feral, even to the point where Abaddon can comfortably move around on all fours.

Abilities:
1) Scipio's bond with a powerful alien symbiote has endowed him with numerous abilities. Both his physical abilities and his senses are enhanced to a superhuman level (ex: enhanced strength, speed, agility, endurance, perception, intelligence, etc), making him a deadly physical combatant. To add to this, Scipio can alter the symbiote's being to form extra appendages, blades and other weapons, extra fangs and tendrils. He can even alter his own being to become that of the symbiote's amorphous form. In all, Scipio's symbiotic bond and abilities are a force to be reckoned with by even the most powerful and skilled of mutants and those connected to the supernatural alike...
2) Scipio's abilities do not end with advanced symbiosis however, because he has acquired the means to wield great dark power from a different realm entirely. He can use this power to create surges of an overwhelming energy which can potentially obliterate any target it comes into contact with. This energy also has the added effect of distorting most magical and energy fields, and can also be manipulated to fuse with his claws or to become a protective aura around Scipio. Drawing deeper into his dark powers and knowledge, Scipio can even merge the current area of the realm he is in with that of the Dark Realm from which his powers originates, twisting the area into a literal "living" nightmare.

Weaknesses:
Abaddon is weak to intense heat and sound, powerful surges of electricity, and forms of light magic.

Personality: Scipio is very intelligent, and despite his backstory, can be quite the happy guy, often making jokes of everything. He has also been described as fun and interesting... Things are all good and well for the most part, but Scipio's lighthearted nature is often intertwined with his darker side. His darker side isn't the typical angry, brooding type (though it can be), but is more morbid, sadistic and insane in a humorous sort of way. This side is most definitely elaborated on by the symbiote, and when brought out, it can definitely make others think that he's not really all that good in the head (which for all intents and purposes, is kind of true). There is more to delve into his persona however, although how much of it he reveals to others and even himself is still yet to be seen.

Backstory:
In truth, Scipio did not originate from any kind of "extreme" background. He was well raised by his parents, lived in a decent area, and was successful in both his advanced Academics and sports. He didn't really have much to complain about, but this did not stop him from developing some internal issues. For one, he was actually dissatisfied with himself, mainly his "humanity". Scipio felt that his body and mind were limited by his humanity, and seeing the emergence of superheroes and supervillains alike only made his yearning for a raising of his nature even stronger. He was also quite lonely, suffering heartbreak and believing that his "friends" were nothing but fluff, mere acquaintances around him to just give him the chance to open his mouth and speak to someone for once. Dissatisfaction, bouts of rage and depression, all these factors are what made the alien symbiote become so attracted to him, and when it did finally show itself to its potential host, Scipio more than willingly bonded with it. Cutting a deep gash across his chest (particularly along the area of his heart), the two quickly developed a strong, highly advanced bond, the symbiote, as Scipio puts it, "truly raising his nature and eating away his pathetic humanity". Having also been imparted with all the acquired knowledge of the symbiote, Scipio quickly surpassed and completed his academics, although this was "nothing to him and only done to feign normality and please his parents". Once he moved out, Scipio decided to actually take up the work of a "superhero", believing that his knowledge and power should be used as such. However, if he was going to do this, he was going to do it his own way, becoming more of a feared Anti-Hero than a beloved and sought for Superhero....
Months after his uptaking of his anti-heroic role in the world, the realm of Scipio's world itself was threatened by the emergence of a being simply known as "The Dark Entity". Coming from a completely different, nightmarish realm, this being was bent on combining its own realm with Scipio's, and it was powerful enough that a temporary group of supers and villains were formed to fight back its invasion. On a close one-on-one fight, The Dark Entity gained the upperhand on Abaddon and cast him into its dark realm, believing it would be amusing to find this troublesome foe be victimized and tortured by the horrors of the dark realm. However, Abaddon tore his way through this nightmarish world, eventually reaching the Citadel of The Dark Entity where he gorged his mind on all of the dark knowledge and powers that were locked away in there. Making his way back to his world, Abaddon was amused to find that The Dark Entity had subdued nearly all of the ones fighting against him, but was just as quickly enraged to find his world slowly being overtaken the dark realm. Abaddon eventually bested The Dark Entity, gladly taking the rest of his abilities and taking his position and authority over the realm from which it came, now known as "Gehenna"....
As for the symbiote, it is really quite ancient, being centuries old (Scipio approximates it to be at least 900 years old). This longevity was not used idly by it, as it spent its entire life bonding to a variety of different hosts from other planets and galaxies. Its unions with numerous hosts and exposure to different environments have allowed it to become one of the most powerful members of its race, the benefits it confers to its host being significantly more potent and numerous than most symbioses, and its own adaptability and resilience being increased as well. Its journeys to other worlds have allowed it to gain much knowledge. Its departure into other worlds is not without explanation though. Years ago when it was still just a "fledgling", a race of curious aliens visited its planet to study it and the things living there, perhaps in hopes of increasing relations with other life forms or to find a new place to live. These aliens were rather appalled to find the vicious symbiotes there, and quickly left. The "Abaddon Symbiote" (along with several others at the time), became stowaways on the several spacecrafts of the alien race, thus allowing it to bond with a host and take its first "steps" into its travels through the universe...
The alignment for both of these characters will undoubtedly be Chaotic Antiheroes.
@Newest Applicants: Accepted! I'll have my CS's and the IC post up in while!

Holy frick, even quoted it's so long. Thanks for accepting yeh uvu! When will you be creating your character, Krein, assuming that you're making one?

I'll be posting my two characters later today, as well as the actual post to begin the RP.
Right now though, I've got a few things to take care of, but I'll be back! Until then, keep the applications coming, I can already tell this'll be a great RP!
Maybe not... though I could have sworn that in the old site at least, foreign languages were not allowed as it creates frustration amongst users wondering what's going on.

A translation at the least would be nice as a courtesy thing.

Hey there guys mind if I join? :)Name: Susannah MarksinAlias: MindWarpGender: FemaleAge: 19Powers/Abilities: The Ability to warp minds, AKA Mental manipulation+ Psionic Inundation = Ability to overload another's mind, causing pain and/or lack of consciousness.+ Illusions = The power to create and manipulate illusions.+ Mental shield = Because of her ability of mental manipulation she has an immunity against direct mental attacks, though telepaths could still hypothetically enter her mind, they are most likely to lose their own in the process.Personality: What she lacks in physical strength, MindWarp more than makes up for in her cunning intelligence. Everything she does has a purpose, unless she is just angry and finds that her actions need no greater purpose other than venting. Although it will take a lot more than mere words to anger her. MindWarp is rather aloof in temperament, but a remarkable trickster in that she can morph into different personas and use them for her benefit. For example, pleading to have her ‘dearest fathers’ room number and key to set up a surprise birthday party. AKA get an important businessman’s room number and key then steal all-important information and/or set up a self-destructing device for his termination. In her off times, MindWarp contemplates reality and illusion but always comes up with the same response, “what is reality but a higher plane of illusion?”Backstory: Born in an upstate apartment to wealthy parents, Susannah was often left alone with the house keeper until her parents returned at 5pm. When she was five her brother was born and any attention she might have received from her parents was taken away and replaced. It was also around this time that her powers were coming into effect and she used them to vie for attention. The stronger her powers became the more horrified her parents got until one day they had enough. They sent her with her housekeeper on a trip to the slums but by the afternoon the housekeeper returned alone and was given a substantial amount of pay added to her usual salary. What happened to Susannah after that was anyone’s guess. (She obviously moved in with the almighty Waffle Tomato Toaster Oven).Alignment Status: A villainous villain. But for the right cause she will fight alongside heroes.

Do we mind? YES GET OUT >:(
Nah, jk xD. You're accepted. In this case I would actually suggest adding something in like the ability to create psionic shockwaves or something of the sort. There is a possibility that there will be characters who are immune or highly resistant to mental barrages. Of course, this is up to you. Feel free to keep it as is if you'd like!

Elizabeth MatthewsShiftFemale22Eli has the ability to transform into any kind of animal that she has seen before. The process is extremely painful and long, putting her body in great stress. Once in the animal state, she cannot speak, but she can understand what other people and animals are saying. She can also perform actions that particular animal can do, but she must first adapt to her new body. Upon the first transformations, Eli will have the same capabilities as a baby. With more practice however, she can control even the smallest twitch of an ear. Shifting back into a human is the same as turning into an animal - gruesome. Without her power, she is like a normal university student - going to class, working a part-time job, hanging out with friends. Transformation, however, sometimes happens at random and she can shift during these regular activities.Eli tries not to let her power define who she is and tends to ignore it (though it's pretty hard to ignore when it happens). She is quiet and laid-back. For the most part, she appears to be happy and satisfied with her life. She is also a great listener but a terrible speaker. She thinks too much and when she figures out what she can say, the opportunity has gone and slipped away. Eli masks the pain that her power brings, as well as any sort of negative emotion that she feels. She dislikes being pitied and loves being around people. For as long as she could remember, Eli lived with her father. He was always working to support her, not allowing the two to have some father-daughter time. It was rare for her father to have a break, but when he did, the two would go out and have fun, sharing their stories from the past days they didn't see each other. One day, Eli was playing in the nearby park. She was chasing after squirrels and chipmunks, climbing up trees and scaling rocks. The other children were in the playground, playing with the park equipment. Their parents were watching them from the benches. Away from their supervision, Eli continued to rough around with the animals instead of the kids. As she was climbing one particular tree, she knocked over a bird's nest. She didn't realize what had happened until minutes later, when she plopped back onto the ground. Just a few feet from the trunk lay broken twigs that led to the nest. There was one egg inside. The others were scattered around the grass, cracked and broken. Eli began sobbing as she picked up the nest with the single egg and returned it to its place on the branch. She sat beside it, tears rolling down her face. Before she knew it, an owl, most likely the mother bird, appeared. Eli noticed her and sputtered out apology after apology. The owl glanced at the egg and then at Eli. She ruffled her feathers and hopped closer to Eli. She patted Eli's knee with her wing, as if comforting her. Lightly pecking her knee once, the owl shook her wings out, taking Eli by surprise. She lost her balance and fell off the tree, screaming on the way down. She blacked out midway. From what she could recall, she could see glimpses of the parents and a few of the kids, larger than normal. They weren't looking straight at her, but they were close by. She lost consciousness again, only to wake up at the base of the tree. The sky was dark and the park was silent. When Eli looked up, the nest was no longer there. She trudged back home, her whole body aching. When she arrived, her father opened the door. His eyes were red and his hair was disheveled. He was quiet for a minute, before giving her a tight hug. It was explained later to Eli that she had gone missing two days prior, at the park.Unknown to her at the time, she was an owlet, hidden under a leaf. The mother owl was feeding her from time to time until she transformed back into a little girl. The owl watched as Eli unconsciously chirped in pain, and as a human, groaning in pain. She flew away moments before Eli opened her eyes. It was the beginning of the series of events of Eli's shape shifting. The second time she transformed was at midnight a week later. She was screaming and crying, but no one came to help. Her father was working a night shift. When she no longer felt pain, she wondered what had happened and tried to sit up. It was difficult, but she dismissed it as the mysterious pain. She saw that everything in her room was bigger and thought she was dreaming. But, she realized that it was midnight and she was able to see things clearly. Looking down, Eli saw a furry stomach and paws. She had transformed into a kitten. She sat there in confusion until her body began heating up. She could hear distressed mewls coming from her mouth, which slowly faded into shouts of agony. After that, she kept transforming at random, though she did her best to run away from the public eye when she began feeling pain. A few weeks later, Eli figured out what was happening - though without explanation - and learned how to suppress the random shifting and control it.As a side note, Eli hates her power and wishes it would disappear.Neutral, but she may be swayed to either side during the RP.I feel like my profile is a bit 'fantasy-like', so if you want me to change anything, I'll gladly do it.(edit: woah there i think i got carried away with that backstory. i didn't know it'd be that long.)

Accepted. Don't worry about the fanatasy thing, there are quite a bit of similar elements of magic and stuff in both DC and Marvel.
Maybe a bit more detail in her Powers/Abilities section. Does she naturally produce these poisons or does she simply have them as part of her equipment?
Isn't there some rule on this site saying that foreign languages are not allowed to be used in RPs?

I've done it once :) And enjoyed it. I'm offering because I think I would enjoy doing a good and a bad. But also to add to the plot line. Name: Roxy BlackAlias: Black WidowGender: FemaleAge: 25Powers/Abilities: Throwing knives, camouflage, and poisons. Personality: Roxy doesn't like people, especially men. She is tough and aggressive. Backstory: Roxy doesn't talk about her past, but it wasn't pleasant. She only interested in what benefits her. Alignment Status: chaotic antiheroes

It's ok, but perhaps a bit more detail to her would be nice.
You can add the new character if you wish, but don't feel pressured into doing two characters at once if you think it'll be a bit difficult.
