Merus rolled his eyes as he scoffed. Was the idiot deaf or something? He just said it for the second time that he was only here to help Klostrun with some of the dying flowers, but Rex insisted on claiming that he was here to murder the cute and widdle plants!

"I'm not going to be going anywhere right now, 'friend'," he said. "I'm looking for Klostrun as well so that I can revitalize a few dead plants. This marks the third time I've said as such. Are you deaf, or are you still thinking about whether or not you'll confess to Nacine or not?"

That might have struck a nerve, and hopefully it had. Aside from the obvious response of anger he'd be receiving, Merus would be keen on any worry that flashed even for a moment across Rex's face, if it dead.
"Please, as much as it'd be hilarious to see Klostrun's and the other earth mages faces when they see melting flowers, no," Merus said jokingly. "Besides, why waste the chemical on things that won't even scream?!"
The Acolyte smiled again, this time a bit more cruelly as he recalled the suffering renegades he had tortured earlier today. How he'd love to see Rex and Nacine in their places now...
"But no. Klostrun just asked me to use my icy magic to help with some of the dying winter plants. I think my bloodlust was satiated enough this morning to tide me over for a few more hours."
Some laughter escaped Merus, though not the usual cold and sadistic one he usually let out. This one seemed more... benign, friendly even. This was one of the other things Merus was good at. Pretending. He didn't feel any regret for lying to anyone, especially not traitors like Rex. A strong sense of hatred welled up within the Acolyte as he remembered what he had heard coming from Nacine's room. Still, he kept it well hid.

"Believe it or not, I'm looking for him because he wanted my help with some of the flowers. Kind of out of place for someone like me to be.. helping life along."
"Greetings Rex," Merus said with a small grin. He was leaning against a wall in the garden that depicted several scenes from the dragons' history.
"Looking for Klostrun? So am I. Haven't seen him though, he might be deeper in the garden."
Merus's twisted mind began to go through ideas of torture for Nacine and Rex. He could force Rex to watch as his lover was mutilated and cut with the sharpest of tools, or vice versa. That would definite elicit many more feelings than pain, and just thinking about either one of them crying out for mercy for each other made bloody glee begin to well up inside him.
The dragons had always cared for Merus even if they were harsh masters. Everything he had and was was because of them, and no one would dare raise arms against them. The dragons were his masters, and in some childlike way, Merus's only family. It had been like that for as long as he could remember.
Yes, stuff is love, stuff is life.
I dunno, stuff xD.
It was the voices of Nacine and Rex making their way to Merus's ears. It seemed that they were having a discussion about their relationship, which started making Merus laugh internally. It wasn't a joyful type of laughter though, it was close to the same type of laughter that came from him as he tortured his and the dragons prisoners. He would love to see them broken apart just for the sake of watching them descend into sorrow. Oh, the things he could think of to facilitate such a schism!
Merus considered such closeness to others foolish, even stupid. The only ones he "loved" were the dragons.
One final word caught his ear. Rebellion. That was it, he'd heard enough. What he suspected might have been going on was true. But rather than burst into the room and confront them, Merus decided to do something else. It was a simple thing really, simply go in secret and report what he heard....
Merus silently left the area to return to Klostrun.
(If this is too much, I can change it)
"Very well," Merus told Klostrun. The Earth mage wasn't really one to really step into other people's business, so Merus questioned himself why he had even bothered to ask him if he'd seen anything strange. Speak8ng of strange.... while Merus was tending the remaining winter flowers, he detected even more changes within the temperature, all of them coming from the same area where he had felt the heat disrupt the freshness of the halls.
Cold and heat, Merus recognized the changes from his training against other fire mages. If there were people having a go at each other within the halls... well, their punishment wouldn't be good.

"Excuse me for a while, I've something to see to. I'll return quickly, so wait here," Merus commanded. He immediately strode off, following the path he felt would lead him in the direction of the atmospheric changes. As he drew closer to the area, he recognized it as having been the same place he had been in earlier before Klostrun came to him.

Merus stopped himself. He could still her voices, and so kept quiet as possible as he formed a small pillar of ice to boost himself up to a ledge that'd keep him out of sight. The pillar dissipated, leaving no trace behind.
"Of course," replied Merus. Far away, Merus detected a surge of heat disrupt the cool air of the structure they and the other Acolytes were in. A fire mage he assumed, but it was a bit out of place for one of them to be practicing within their own quarters. Speaking of fire mages...

"Klostrun, you haven't noticed anything suspicious about and between Rex and Nacine, have you?"

Merus posed this question as nonchalantly as he could. However, he meant to probe, to try and detect any uneasiness within the earth mage.
