The trio collected themselves after they fell trying to catch the other from falling. Brushing off the dirt, they continued their run. When they finished their fiftieth lap, they were exhausted. Yuta's lungs felt as if they would explode. He'd ran fifty laps before but at his own pace. Running at the pace of his trainer was much more strenuous.

Yuta looked at the others who seemed just as spent as he felt.

"I wonder what she's gonna have us do next," he said to his teammates.
The shuriken was all motivation Yuta needed to start running. The school grounds stretched over seven miles and running fifty miles was more than cruel and unusual punishment. The was the first time this new squad had been assembled since they were announced; and on the first day all three members were late.

'This is going to be a lot of fun,' he thought.

The trio had finished their fifth lap.

"Well, she seems nice," Yuta said between breaths. "Since we have time to kill, I'm Yuta."
Yuta tossed and turned in his sleep. He hid his head under the blanket trying to block out the sunlight creeping through the curtains of his curtains. When that failed, he let out a sigh. He slowly sat up in his bed and stretched. The night before, Yuta stayed awake practicing his chakra control. He took a deep breath and crawled out of bed.

Yuta walked across the floor of his small apartment. He glanced at a letter on his dresser. It was from his mother. Yuta slowly reached for it. It arrived last night while Yuta was training deep in the woods. He unrolled the scroll and read it. The paper gave off his mother's scent. It reminded him of home. The letter said that his younger brother and sister were doing well and that she was keeping them occupied to avoid them messing with Farmer Yuma's piglets. His father and uncle were working diligently to keep the peace and that they had been an excellent job at it.

Yuta believed his mother's words but could tell she was hiding something. There was a certain tone to the letter that unsettled him. Like, "We're okay. We still have a target on our backs but we will be fine. Worry about yourself." He picked his head up and looked out the window. The sun was higher; it was probably around the ten o' clock hour.

"Crap!" Yuta exclaimed. He rushed to prepare for the meeting with his advisor, Kiragi. He quickly washed his face, brushed his teeth, and threw his clothes on. He grabbed his katana from its stand and holstered in on his back. He opened the window to his room and, with no hesitation, jumped from the window to the nearest rooftop. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop, Yuta raced to the schoolyard.

'Hopefully, I'm not the only one who's late,' Yuta thought.

'Guess teachers need to cool off too,' Gale thought to himself. 'Well, with the outstanding bunch we have I can't really blame him.'

By the time Gale gathered his things, Alexa was already out of the door. Her head was down in her books as if she was trying to hide something. Gale followed her out the room trying to keep pace with her.

"Alexa," he called out. "Wait up!"

Alexa was wrapped in her thoughts. No one could know what she had just received. She knew she already messed up with the big guy. He probably thought she was weird already.

"Oh my goodness he was massive. He looked like a mountain, which could have been scary. His face... so so-!" Her face was really hot now.

Alexa's surroundings were a blur, yet she was on autopilot and somehow not crashing into people.

"Alexa!" Gale called out again.

And again he was not heard. Gale let out an exasperated sigh.

'I wonder what she's got.' Gale thought. He looked at his surroundings. There was a shadow underneath the water fountain.

"Well. This is gonna suck but here we go."

He walked towards the fountain and, using his Quirk, dipped into its shadow. He moved underneath the floor finding Alexa's shadow casted in front of her. He popped up from her shadow.

"Ale-."

Unaware of what was happening around her. Alexa continued to think about two things. The hentai mag she had just acquired and the dreamy giant outside of class. Her hearing was essentially shut down at the moment.

"I need food to not think about-" Were the only words that came out of her mouth before something obstructed her view.

It didn't register in her mind that teenage boy manifested in front of her. Also, the words weren't clearly heard from him until the next crucial moment. Two objects can't occupy the same space at the same time. It was something she heard in a movie once. It never made sense to her until now. The collision followed next.

"Whoa!"

Slam!

A resounding 'Ohhh' could be heard throughout the hall when the two collided.

Alexa's forehead slammed Gale in the center of his chest. The impact knocked the wind from his lungs. He stumbled backwards. He doubled over wrapping in arms around his stomach and tried to catch his breath.

'How hard is this girl's head?' Gale wondered.

When his breath returned to him, he slowly stood up straight.

"You... alright...?"

An intense pain surged through her forehead as the collision came to a close. Instinctively, she pulled her hands up to rub her forehead. Her fingers brushed her bangs out of the way to ease the spot. After a minute, she opened her eyes and saw who she slammed into.

"O-oh! I'm so sorry Gale!" She winced and her voice wasn't as loud as it usually would've been. "I'll..be fine. Are you ok?"

She felt really bad about hitting him so hard.

"I'll live." He replied rubbing his chest.

He took a deep breath and stretched regaining a sliver of his composure.

"You rushed out of the room. I just wanted to make sure you were ok?"

Nodded nervously as she fixed her specs. They definitely were off center from the crash. She stopped and sighed when she watched him rub his chest.

"I'm really sorry..."Alexa then tried to get him to laugh."If you had to deal with my brother all day, you'd be hardheaded too."

She flashed her Cheshire grin at her old friend up in his face. His question made her pull back slowly.

"Oh.. I'm fine. Nothing you need to worry about." Her thought clock ticked to find a viable subject change."First day jitters! Anyway, let's get lunch."

Alexa snaked her arm around his and started toward the cafeteria.

Gale let himself get swept up by Alexa. Hunger won over curiosity. And first day jitters were a logical point. Given the events of the class, some nerves were understandable.

"I didn't know you were thinking about getting into U.A. It's awesome you're here. And we're both in the same class."

"I'm so happy that I know someone in class! I posted it up all over Quirky. I thought you would've saw it, but maybe you missed it."

Alexa reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out her phone. She showed him the really corny picture of her holding acceptance letter surrounded by her family. Her cousin had taken the picture for them.

" I'm sure your big brother would've been proud." She said quietly for moment. It totally slipped her mind that he might get sad by that. "Wanna get fried chicken onigiri like old times?!"

He laughed at her picture. Alexa always had a goofy smile. Her dad seemed happier than she did that she got accepted. The comment about his brother admittedly made him happy.

His brother, Bruce, was a pro hero that graduated from U.A. He was killed in action rescuing civilians from a collapsing during a villain's attack. Ever since then, Gale wanted to be a hero and follow in his brother's footsteps.

His mind returned back to his growling stomach.
"You know me so well."
Gale watched the other introductions equally amazed at the Quirks of his classmates. Such talented individuals and he had the chance to study alongside them and possible work with them as heroes in the future.

Andrew calling out the heavy breather, Herito, brought his attention back to class. He turned around in his seat to watch the events unfold. Fortunately, Tokiko was closer to Herito. He breathed a sigh of relief.

'At least it ain't me.' He thought to himself.
Gale gave Alexa a peace sign when she waved. It was nice to have someone he knew in the same class as him. It helped to ease his nerves.

Selena's Quirk was equally impressive. He never imagined an ability like that existed. It just cemented the immense range of knowledge he had yet to obtain regarding Quirks.

Yin's Quirk was awesome as well. To be able to create a portal at will made his Quirk feel a little inferior.
'Guess she would never really be late.' He thought to himself.

Andrew's Quirk however caught thr bulk of Gale's attention. A much more effective shadow user. Creating items from his shadow plus the ability is transport himself, made Gale realize he still had a long way to go in order to fully master his gift.

Gale stood up when Yin called him. After watching everyone's ability, he felt kind of silly going next.
'Should've gone first. Dammit.' He thought. He cleared his throat and began his introduction.

"Good morning. My name is Gale Douglas. Umm... I call my Quirk "Shadow Step." Basically I can move myself between shadows. I can hide in any shadow for as long as I want. The only drawback is that during the daytime once I come out the darkness, I'm blinded. It's gets really bad if I stay in longer than five minutes. Anymore than that and I'm useless for at least thirty minutes."

The shadow of his desk laid in front of him. Gale took a step towards it and snuck into the shadow. A moment later he pulled himself from Gang Orca's shadow several feet from his desks shadow. He rolled his shoulders and returned to the front of the room.

Gang Orca snorted.
"That's quite the drawback. I assume your costume design has something that would diminish that effect. Correct?"

Of course his costume considered that fact, but the fact that Gang Orca was the one asking, caused Gale to freeze up for a moment. He was just a tad bit star struck.

"Ummm... yeah. I mean, yes. I mean yes sir. It would be a dark cloak with a hood and sunglasses that reduce the lighting coming in by at least 30% more than regular sunglasses. My mom helped with the math on that. It would also have a spool of rope on attached to my wrist for extractions or quick stealth takedowns."

"Very good," Gang Orca replied. "Call the next student and take your seat. Ms. Reggie. You're next."

Gale woke up several minutes before his alarm went off. The anxiety and excitement of the moment woke him up. Today was his first day attending the same school his brother graduated from. The pressure he felt in his chest with that thought in mind was enough to make him stay in bed.

The blaring of his alarm snapped him back into reality dispelling most of his unwanted thoughts. He hopped out of bed and got ready for school. When he was done, he stared at himself in the mirror. His school uniform fit perfectly. It felt warm and comfortable around his shoulders. It made him feel powerful. It made him feel a step closer to his brother.

Gale made his way downstairs where his parents were already eating breakfast. They gazed at him for a moment eyes beaming with excitement. Gale's mother stood up from the table and gave him a hug.

"You look amazing," she said.

"I feel amazing," he replied back with a smile.

"You look like Bruce," his father said stepping to his side.

"Nah. I look much better than he did."

They all chuckled. Gale's father placed a hand on his shoulder. "You'll do fine." He said firmly.

"Thanks."

He kissed both his parents on the cheek before grabbing his bookbag and heading out the door.

He soon arrived at the gates of U.A. It was much more intimidating than he could have imagined. He would not let the moment overcome him though. He steeled himself and walked through the doors. The hallway was bustling with students looking for their classrooms. Excited, nervous, anxious, prideful faces and voices filled the atmosphere.

Gale soon found his classroom. He walked through the doors looking for an empty seat. By this time most of the seats were already taken and the only seats available were in the front of the classroom.

'Shit.' He thought to himself and took his seat in the front center seat of the room.

After the seven mintue mark, Gale released his shadow link with Andrew. From the abilities that he learned from Andrew, he was by far most proficient using shadow link. However, because his body wasn't fully used to using his shadow, he grew tired using it for a given amount of time. He slowly closed his eyes and went to sleep.

Alexa was spent from repeatedly reopening her barrier around herself. Yes, she did it because she didn't want to allow him anytime to talk to her at those 2 minute intervals. The other reason, she heard another student saying "Yall ugly!". She couldn't place the voice, but she didn't want to give time to anyone at this point. Her head was a little light headed after doing this for so long. She hadn't done that in a long time. Not since middle school.

'Man I don't miss this feeling.... I'm glad my secret meeting days were over.'

The thought made her sad. She didn't have a lot of friends in middle school. She was well known but only for the use of her quirk. Everyone liked spreading secrets and rumors inside her barrier after school, but no one trusted her because she knew everyone's rumors. That was so lonely back then. Her hands fell out of their position and her barrier fell. She let out the air like a sigh and breathed in normally.

Something landed softly on her shoulder.

Gale's head landed into Alexa's shoulder once she dropped her barrier. He didn't wake, just snored.

Alexa instinctively froze when she heard the breathing. Her head slowly turned to look at what she already knew. Gale was asleep on her shoulder. Her first thought was to shove him, but he seemed really peaceful. Also, him snoring would be better for her than him talking. She'd sigh again.

"Great..." She'd whisper to herself.

Gale was dreaming. He knew it was a dream but he couldn't wake hinself up. He was at home watching television. There was a news report on about his brother stopping an armed group of robbers.

"You're still awesome," He said turning to his left.

"I know," his brother said with a smile as he put on his jacket.

"When you get home from the agency, we're going to tour U.A. right?"

"Yes. Yes. Yes. When I get back, I promise we'll tour the school. See ya when I get back."

That was the last time he saw his brother.

After some moments on the bus, she had started to play with her phone again. It didn't take long for her to notice that he wasn't snoring anymore. There was some sort of muttering. At first, she was worried he would say something silly at first, but it sounded distant and childlike. She couldn't make it out at first, but she heard one thing "going to tour U.A, Right?" Her heart sank. There was only one person he could have been asking that.

Back in elementary school, there was two heroes that Alexa loved more than anything. All Might, because he was the perfect hero( her father loved him and that she inherited), and Quake, Galen's older brother. She liked him because he was a really nice guy, handsome, friendly, and he was a hero she would see around. He was the neighborhood hero. The one out and about, talking to the people, the kids, helping everyone with a smile. When she got into middle school, rumors spread that his younger brother attended the school. Of course, everyone tried to hunt him down and see if he was anything like his brother. He wasn't. He was dorky, impulsive, quieter, and no where near as cool as him. Kids fell away after sometime, but Alexa didn't. She was determined become friends with this guy just to get closer to his brother. A chance to meet her crush was so close she could feel it. Then something happened, she found out how nice he was on his own and they truly became friends. In a way, he was the only person who didn't want to use her quirk for secrets and actually wanted to come around because of who she was as a person. It was nice. Coming around, seeing his family during the year. Catches glimpses of his brother from time to time walking home together. Until, that day came. When Quake was killed during an attack.

Alexa felt sorry all over again as she looked at her sleeping friend.

It was strange, she never realized how similar the two of them looked before.
