You'll be using a different weapon, one that's blade is only as sharp as your control over spiritual energy." He got the sword for Shiro out of his captain's jacket, as it was hidden somewhere within. "It just increases the overall effect of controlling your spiritual energy, if you can't, it won't be able to cut, despite how much spiritual energy there is to sharpen it." He tossed it in Shiro's direction, and unsheathed his zanpakuto.

John got a look of surprise to him, He followed the captain and blinked as he explained the test was to simply fight against him as best he could. "Are you sure I should fight you...? If I do get any hits in, it'd hurt you, I'd prefer not to do that..." He glanced down to his zanpakuto, unsheathing it despite his words.
Shiro
Shiro watched the Captain disappear off to the training grounds and soon after he arrived then he listened to what the Captain said and raised any eye brow as he caught the Zanpakuto "You expect me to use this piece of crap? more to the point you expe-ah fuck it I aint wasting time with questions I just want to get this thing started!" Shiro held the Zanpakuto in his right hand with his left hand free as usual, Shiro was going to try take this seriously for once and so he tried to only release a small amount of spiritual energy and with this small amount he would try control it so it wouldn't spill out of control. Shiro then shunpoed infront of the Captain and slashed down towards him simply aiming to cut down the left side of his body

"If you believe your skills will hurt me then give me everything you have...let me show you the gap in our power..." Kurisa simply crossed his arms and closed his eyes as he waited for John to attack but instantly he could sense some hesitance which wasn't good...you wouldn't and shouldn't hesitate when facing an enemy, of course it didn't help Kurisa was a Captain but this was also good at the same time...it would serve as a form of education for John. He had to understand just how powerful spiritual energy was and how it can make the difference between life and death but not only that...he wanted to show the rewards of a Shinigami that has dedicated every waking moment to becoming the best he could...
