I tend to dream about things I'm writing, replaying scenerios over and over with slight differences to see how each would work out. Problem solving, I guess it is. It's rare that I have anything truly frightening or original, that probably tells me something about my writing. -_-
It's an on and off thing. Some weeks I have horrible nightmares, the next week it'll be blissful dreams, the next week... nothing at all.
I do sometimes use a sleep aid (or just chug nyquil) or do yoga/relaxation exercises before bed. Other times I don't really mind the dreams because I can snap out of it pretty quick and use whatever happened in my dreamspace as a "story" base. I think it helps that I'm a writer and I revolve around stories and ways to tell stories. I can view those things as a launchpad for a story.
Or you're being possesed by a demon child spirit and need a priest.
