You can do what I use to do. I would usually lock away a character in Story Post until that person could return.
I would lock them away and give them two phases. If they weren't back, they would be killed off.

Dark red, for me.
Though, when it comes to unnatural colors, some people can pull them off really well. I can pull off a Purple, but definitely not Pink or Blue/Black. I've wanted to try a lighter blue, but work won't allow it. So, I'm officially back to my natural hair color of a dark brown that is exceptionally red in the sunlight.
