"I hope so." Cooper replied to Daniella, deciding that was a safe response whether Daniella was being genuine or not.

"Of course! I've never been more excited for anything!" Cooper exclaimed. "I know it isn't glamorous, but it's what I've grown up around and what I love to do. I just hope I won't be the only one from our class who gets chosen for it."

Cooper laughed lightly. "Are you kidding? With how smart you are and how successful your family is, you'll get a great job." She shifted to lean back in her chair and cross her arms. "You have nothing to worry about."

Cooper looked over at Marcella. "Oh, hello Marcella." she said, trying to brush her hair out of her face. Cooper looked like a mess, even in her best clothes. Her dress was faded blue and didn't fit right, her shoes were just her everyday work boots, and she wasn't wearing any makeup or jewelry. She smiled at the Italian girl, "You look lovely today. Excited for graduation?"

Cooper lifted her head from her desk and looked up at Daniella and Maxwell. Daniella was lovely, Cooper had always thought so, but right now she was more fascinated by Maxwell. She wasn't cruel enough to ask him about it publicly, but what was he doing drawing machinery? She stared absentmindedly at him; would he join her as a Metalheart?

Cooper got to school, legs tired and panting lightly. She'd have taken a bus, but she didn't particularly feel like getting beat up by people who thought they were better than her. She practically collapsed in her desk behind Maxwell, but managed to catch a glimpse of his drawing. What's he doing that for? she wondered.

The roads hummed with the energy of all the machinery underneath and around them. Cooper grinned, kicking a pebble as she walked; this would be her world in just a few hours. Her world to make perfect, to fix. She wondered who else would be a Metalheart; surely not that Maxwell kid, the son of the lawyer, or that lovely singer named Daniella. Cooper wondered if she would be alone; she hoped not. She kicked the pebble into a gutter and kept walking.

Cooper was thrilled about graduation; all her life she'd been waiting to join her parents and friends as a Metalheart, and maybe make life just a little bit better for them. She started the long walk to school from the Metalheart village.

@ladyanglaise your character will be able to watch the job choosing ceremony, but you will be sitting separate from the rest of the students using machine, since you were born in the metalheart town.

Experimental Army

Despite herself, Ivy felt guilty. She figured that guy was really unstable, maybe he really didn't know how he was supposed to act around people and authority. She'd met people like that in prison, people who just needed therapy and a friend, not jail time. She sighed and shook her head.
"It's all good, man, just chill out. We're all friends here." She said calmly, sitting back down. She did feel a little better now that he was restrained; just because he didn't know what he was doing, if that was the case, didn't make him less dangerous. She decided to introduce herself. "I'm Ivy. What's your name, buddy?"
