He doesn't really have an arrancar mother. They just say he does and use it as an excuse to completely smear and outcast him in the family. It's hate resulting from his father being an arrancar sympathizer like he was.

Hirenkyaku: An advanced Quincy moving technique. It allows for high- speed movements by riding on the flow of Reishi created below the user's feet.
Archery: It is the most used form of combat among the Quincy. Since they're still human, maintaining a distance from highly dangerous Hollows as well as launching numerous attacks on multiple opponents gives them a great advantage offensively and defensively. While Merah is a capable archer, unlike most quincies and to completely surprise his opponents he does not utilize this as his main form of combat.
Chinese Martial Arts: Baji Quan: Utilizing his Reishi, Mereh is able to enhance physical strikes with his spirit aura in order to be able to harm his opponents through hand to hand combat.
Reishi erasure: He is able to control his Reishi into levels far below that of a normal human, making him very unnoticable. He does this to sneak around and slip in and out of situations.

Gintō: Gintō are small liquid-filled capsules that store Reiryoku, and are used by the Quincy for spell casting in the same way that Shinigami use Kidō. Like Kidō, they are activated by calling out various commands.

Hollow Bait: This item is a small, coin-shaped disk that attracts Hollows when crushed. Mereh uses this in order to force distractions against his pursuers.
Personality: Merah is highly paranoid and takes many precautions to preserve his life, barely trusting anyone. He will often be confrontational and will never trust anyone without proof, always making contingency plans for escape, evasion and killing everyone he encounters. He perfectly understands if this feeling is mutual, for he firmly believes that trust is something that someone must earn instead of being blindly given.
Paranoia aside, Merah is a firm believer of justice, much to the surprise of many. Before trust is earned, Merah has a strictly professional relationship, making only deals and acting only on an equal give and take ratio. However, once he comes to trust someone he will defend them, fight alongside them and work with them. Merah is also a partial pacifist, willing to kill without remorse to protect himself yet he is completely adamant on refusing to kill for any other reason. Even if he sees a hollow attacking a human, the most he will do is enter distraction tactics and give the victim a chance to escape.
History: Quincies already have a rather strange and rather twisted family history with full bloods and unpure bloods making for quite the family drama. Already living under a prejudiced glare, Merah developed into a pacifist - something which really did not help his case. Upon learning the nature of Konso, soul cleansing and how Quincies could not cleanse hollows like the soul reapers could, Merah completely abstained from hollow hunting, refusing outright to kill hollows and instead firing off signals in order to alert soul reapers to their locations. However, his mercy became known amongst the hollows, leading for a few of the intelligent ones to even negotiate and make deals with him.
One such arrancar who came to him was nothing more than a young girl, formerly a powerful arrancar who had been depowered due to combat (much like Nel). She explained how she was being hunted by others of her own kind and Merah agreed to shelter her until soul reapers could come and either deal with her or cleanse her soul. However, his protection over her earned him extreme hate from his fellow quincy, who began calling him "Traitor" and "Sympathizer". However, despite all of their criticisms he persevered in sheltering her.
Then one day, while he was out, another quincy killed her in cold blood, denying her even the chance to have her soul cleansed and enter soul society.
This event caused him to run away from the Quincy, but not before he stole a few items. To this day, the quincy still hunt him. He is currently in Japan, hiding from the other Quincies through skill and precaution, but the time in hiding and the more than few attempts on his life by other quincies had rendered him paranoid.
Other: Used to have a young arrancar as a travelling companion. However, she has long since been slain. Also, unless the fullbringer is able to cleanse a hollow's soul he will actively discourage or even prevent them from finishing off a hollow, urging them to wait for a soul reaper.

Watching at the chicken horde dispersed, Gerald shook his head at the whole situation. It was just so strange, after all, but at least it was over. Turning over to Coral, he looked at the piece of chicken for a few moments before he shrugged. "Sure, I'll have some."

No matter how much she assured him that she would be fine, no matter how powerful she claimed her powers and her spirit animal were, she did not return. All that they ever found was a dead body, killed by the monsters nobody knew existed. Nobody but him knew the truth, and as such, he was the only one who knew that there were monsters that existed which could strike any time, any where, suddenly, viciously, monstrously, without warning.
There it was again. He was remembering that night.
Araragi Kai sat in a cafe, watching the cars go by past him as he had a book in his lap. Sipping a cup of coffee, he stared outside the windows as the noise of traffic and vehicles permeated the peace and tranquility of the cafe. Fear and paranoia gripped him yet again as the images of his late sister flashed through his mind as well as the images of the monsters she had died fighting against. His hand began to tremble, sweat began to trickle down his neck and his heart began racing as he was reminded yet again that at any moment something could attack and he could die in a flash.
Opening the Araragi Anthology of Haiku with his hands and taking out a pen, he began composing.

Unbeknownst to him, his fear and paranoia was seeping through his words. Gathering strength with every letter, the energy broke free of the book and began forming into a Kemono of fear and paranoia, unseen by its creator. The Kemono then went off, leaving Kai completely unaware of what he had done.
Setting down his book, he took another sip of coffee.
No matter how much she assured him that she would be fine, no matter how powerful she claimed her powers and her spirit animal were, she did not return. All that they ever found was a dead body, killed by the monsters nobody knew existed.
