So I hope I didn't ramble or overstep in the rp or anything. If I did or anyone sees anything I need to work on please let me know, this is my first advanced forum rp so I'm trying to not mess it up.

I'm glad you're admitting that.

I can only see a few things wrong with the post. For one, the place the Jarl calls his home in Falkreath isn't a palace and calling it such would probably be met with laughter. The Jarl lives in a longhouse, which is pretty much what it sounds like. If you have Skyrim, feel free to hop onto it and check out Falkreath's layout. If not, you can just hop onto a wiki and search it up. A google image search of "Falkreath jarl's longhouse" might turn up a good picture.

Also, the people of Falkreath, especially the captain, would've treated you more harshly if they saw you were wearing the trappings of a Reach(wo)man. If you could edit your post with just a quick snippet about Finnen shoving a traveling cloak to cover yourself and a bedroll to wrap your sword in, that would certainly help Alana blend in well. I wouldn't expect the people of Skyrim to take too kindly to the sight of a Forsworn woman with a big sword.
When Quarivier signaled to the group to meet with him, he heeded the call. He tucked away his piece of wood he’d been shaving thin pieces off of and got to his feet. Walking a few steps to join the group as they passed around the letter, he could already guess what they needed to do. Infiltrate, get information and then be on their way. When it finally came for him to read the letter, his brow furrowed at the bit about the siege and them helping in it. He wasn’t fond of fighting battles he stood a chance of losing and was not looking forward to the prospect of being in a pitched battle. Support role or not, he was an assassin, not a soldier. The field was not a place for him. He frowned, passing it the member next to him. Not wasting any time, he nodded to his fellows, “Best not let our impetuous leader and the old coot get lonely.”

Pulling his hood over his head, he began the walk to Falkreath on the road, sticking to the crowd. The mild beard he’d managed to grow after days of not shaving was still there, and not to mention his plain, versatile features helped him to blend in and disappear. The weight of the dagger at his side and on his back, as well as the smaller implement in his boot helped to reassure him should any trouble be bent on finding him, no matter how much he hid from it. Of course, he couldn’t just stroll up to the guards and ask politely to tell them of any troop movements and even then, he doubted the faceless grunts would know about anything beyond their little place in the war. An officer would be better, but he knew nabbing one would prove more difficult than just bopping him on the head and dragging him around the corner.

He entered the city unhindered like the rest of the group he’d latched on to and followed the larger group that split off from the main one he’d entered the city with. The gates parted for them easily enough and after a simple mumbled, “Passing through.” By Finnen, he was inside. For a great evil army of genocidal men and beasts, they opened their gates easily enough. He knew it had to have been quite the different approach for Quarivien. He felt relieved he still looked like Man, no matter how watered down his blood was through centuries of interbreeding with Breton, elf, Aldmer and Orc. His people were mongrels to the Bretons, mongrels to the Nords, outcasts everywhere but their own villages. This mongrel had been let in with nefarious intentions that would be carried out against them thanks to them. Finnen gave a soft smile.

It disappeared as he eyed the captain of the guard. He had more scar tissue than face, it seemed. An ugly bugger, but all men bleed the same. He couldn’t help but think that whoever gave him those scars thought it easy and found out the hard way it wasn’t. Finnen wouldn’t make that mistake. All men sleep. Their mission didn’t call for the death of the guard captain though, so he was safe for now. The jail could hold documents or notes passed around about murders, complaints and the orders that spawned then and even some prisoners who could shed light on their trespasses. The Jarl’s longhouse was likely to hold a trove of documents and he did have his picks. He figured the best way to wait out the time he could go to either the jail or the longhouse would be night.

To the tavern then, to buy a room, get some food in his stomach that wasn’t oats boiled in boiled riverwater or dried meat and wait out the day, listening for gossip. As he neared the tavern, a rather attractive and straightforward woman singled him out among the men, “Shor’s bones, a handsome man in Falkreath.”

“And there are others, dear.”

“But only one of me.” She said, playfully.

“I’ll call for you if I want you.” He said, slightly annoyed. The comforts of a woman could wait until the mission was over. He preferred to get the work done before he started playing.
I'll have a post up tonight, for sure.

I probably will once I get these primary edits completed and the NS reposted. If I got on the chat now, I'd never get it done. lol.

High Rock and Cyrodiil's political relationship are pretty much the same as they've always been: Keep the backstabbing to a minimum and we won't intervene. That's how it's been for years and that's how it is now. I expect that Imperial authority will only be called upon in times of war or civil war in High Rock(but, I mean, who the hell can tell the difference between a civil war and an average day in High Rock?). I also expect that the Empire wouldn't like it if their only remaining province was stirring up trouble for the ones around it.

About Prince Narcisse Septim-Vincens: He knows that he a tenuous claim on the Ruby Throne and is sore about not inheriting it. After all, his father fought for his line's place on the throne in the Interregnum, but ultimately losing to the Medes and killed on the field of battle. It with a heavy heart and not a small amount of scorn that he looks on the Mede's and Triarius's place as Emperor. The reason Narcisse is so damned hateful of the Empire is because his father not only was killed fighting for what should have been his throne in the first place through a very diluted bloodline, but that his father ultimately failed, his mother was killed during the ensuing regency, one of his best friends's families was killed by pirates and his throne taken- all while the Empire did jack shit.

Through all of this, the different rulers of High Rock's five kingdoms have kept their place as an Imperial Province to the Empire if only to say they have the biggest friend on the playground.

High Rock still trades with and follows the laws of trading set forth by the Empire.

Under the rule of High King Ferrand Bellemont of Daggerfall, High Rock remains an Imperial Province. Bellemont holds no quarrels with the Emperor and they are on good terms.
Fucking Gods, Finnen cursed in his head, still sore in the legs. It had been a good number of years since he’d walked so much miles in so few days. He understood the urgency, or at least was yelled at about it many times by Bennet back in Cyrodiil, but the road puts a hurt in a man’s legs like none other. He sat with his back against the tree, whittling away at a piece of wood, contemplating a good way to get the wandering priest blabbering on about circles or wheels and fire and boys or whatever the hell he was talking about to shut up and let him get some quiet rest. Instead, he settled for looking as disinteresting as he could by putting on the look of every refugee around him. It was easy, he was tired, distraught and a wee bit angry just like them, definitely not one inviting passersby to talk at him. He looked over to the Altmer in their group, an open member of the Thalmor. Bennet had given specific instructions to keep an eye on him. He would, but only because he knew the look of a killer when he saw it. He’d lived with a few and killed a few men himself, so he ought to know.

He didn’t like how the Altmer could disappear in a crowd. He knew how easy it was to fool the eye himself, so meeting one who could fool his own for a few moments at least was…different. And not in a good way. As if the Gods set aside this day to make Finnen contemplate taking his own life out of hopeless exasperation, the lunatic walked past him to ask a Dunmer a question about the things he usually talked about. I have to wonder why we keep him around, he mused. Although, the man was reported to be a competent mage and the way he dealt with those wolves in the Jeralls was a sight to see. Definitely not for the faint of heart but a sight to see.

Speaking of those he had to ask himself why they associated with, there was his kinswoman. A fellow Reachman, still dressed in the fur loincloth, looking like the savages everyone makes his people out to be. He spat at that, it didn’t matter where he went, no one trusted a Reachman because of those Forsworn lunatics. The elves saw his blood no better than dirt and the Nords would sooner crack his head open than say hello.

“If the world is to fall better to fall fighting is it not?” She said in a tone welcoming a response.

“I’d rather stay alive, Alana.” His voice was heard for one of a few times on the road to Falkreath.

So you can interact with NPCs if you want, and control them. This is a time to introduce your character and do anything else that you want to do. The real action will begin when you enter the town, and even then it will go how you decide it will go.Edit: Is it sad that ever since starting this roleplay my 3AM slot has been filled with reading ever increasingly obscure facts about TES lore?

What do you think I do at 3am?

It certainly wouldn't hurt the RP.EDIT: The roleplay will be starting tomorrow or Wednesday; character creation will not close anytime soon, but please at least express interest so I know how to handle the squad. With 4 characters (maybe 5-6 if other people come through) then it's a good sized infiltration squad, and we can go from there. Obviously this world is going to be massively scaled up from Elder Scrolls V, so an arrival of 5 people in Falkreath won't be the equivalent of doubling the town's numbers...

It's nice to see someone appreciating the scale of Tamriel.
Gotcha

Name: Finnen

Age: 20

Race: Reachman (Breton, if asked)

Class: Nightblade

Birthsign: The Shadow

Appearance: Most Reachmen from the Northeastern Reach share more in common with the interbreeding of Elf and Breton. Tall and lithe, fair of hair, faint points on the ear and angular faces belong to this arm of Reachman culture. Finnen is no exception to these rules, except he finds himself at an unimposing 5’8”. He stays completely shaven but is able to grow a beard. Slightly effeminate features, lithe but muscled, no excess mass to slow him. Milky blonde hair of an altmer kept in a simple bun, blue eyes of the man-races.

Equipment: Green traveling cloak, leather breastplate, pauldrons and leg plates. Worn leather boots, black leggings, white blouse shirt. Steel dagger on hip, steel dagger on the small of his back, small push dagger in boot.

Talents:
Rogue’s Do It Dirty: Being a nightblade, Finnen is a talented assassin, able to walk away from a knife-fight in close-quarters with another man’s blood on his shirt. He is a crafty fighter, major arteries and the groin are always his targets and he is apt to polish his blade with poison.
Are you a boy or a girl?: Looking like a ponce has actually benefitted Finnen in his life as a nightblade and he can go from a boy too young to shave, a hairy-cheeked man or a woman- though, that was always a dangerous business and is always reserved for targets that just can’t be taken any way else.
A Shadow Among Shadows: Due to his skills as a nightblade, he has learned how to climb and scale buildings and walls to get to those where less tact and more knife is needed. He is exceptional at sneaking and getting into hard-to-reach places.

Spells: Conjuration
-Reanimate Corpse, every Reachman has some skill in Necromancy.
-Bound Dagger, the weapon never seen is the deadliest.

Mysticism:
-Detect Pulse
, he needs to know who’s on the other side of those walls.

Restoration: Healing, he likes his blood to stay in his insides.
Healing Hands, No one wants to die alone, but everyone wants a friend to make sure they don’t die at all.

Destruction: Burning Touch, He likes to stay in close, a target far away is a lot of coins lost.
Cold Touch
Curse of Weakness,
They can’t run from him if they don’t have the energy to.

Weaknesses:
Knife Fighter: He is not a swordsman, he is not a knight, he is not a strong man. Play to his strengths and you will not be disappointed. Make him into something he can’t be and you’ll be short a man.
I’m not a misanthrope, I hate everyone equally: He hates most of the men-races by default and is apt to distrust them due to the injustices done to his people in the past. He hates mer for the dirty looks they have given him for simply having different blood. Don’t expect him to play well.
Anti-Social: He holds his words close and one may never know him no matter how many words pass between them. He is quiet, sometimes sharp to be left alone and can be a team player if given an incentive. Can be.
Milk of the Poppy, Essence of the Moonsugar: Finnen has a taste for the drugs and vices of Tamriel and when he is not looking to put his knife between ribs he is looking to put himself under intoxication.

Personality (optional): Finnen holds himself close. He is quiet and looks as delicate as his features, but he is sharp with it. He knows his strengths and will play them for his own gain. He seems distant at most times and whether his mind is clouded by the drugs or some memory of something, few will ever know. He doesn't like to be told to do something, but will have no problem doing something he thinks will do him some good. That very thing might also do the group good. He is an unapologetic, manipulative, dangerous individual with a temper as long as his memory. Everyone gets theirs sooner or later, just make sure you're not in the list.

Background: Finnen was born in the Northeastern Reach to the Crow-Wife clan of the Reachmen. From a young age he was taught the traditional talents of his people. Alchemy, hedge magicks and how to wield a weapon. He was exceptional at these skills and showed much promise through hard hours of work. It was drilled into his mind that many people will kill him simply because of who he is, so he might as well learn how to kill them for it. And he did. But his skills wouldn’t help against the dragon that burned his village and his family on that fateful night, too quiet before the loud beating of big wings. He was the first to see it and the only one to see it go.

He wandered ever after until he was found by men too rough to be called family but too tight to be called strangers. He ran with them for a while, robbing the road-travelers and hiding in caves and ruins. He honed his talents even more, able to practice what his father and mother taught him. His touch became ice or fire and the only mercy his fingers gave was that of a sleeping death. He lived with the bandits for many days, earning himself a name among them and earning the favor of their leader. They treated him well enough under their leader but every group has a pecking order. Finnen was not one to let himself be pecked to death and so struggled to stay as high as he could to at least be left alone to stay out of the way of the others.

It was only until the leader of their band was overthrown in a coup and he was thrown away after what they did to him. He wandered to the nearest town and took refuge in an inn, where he learned the skills of the women-of-the-night, how to walk, how to dress, dyes for the hair, learning how to concoct potions that would effect a person’s openness to suggestion or cloud the mind, or to create sensations bordering on ecstasy. It was also with this alchemical knowledge he began to make poisons. When his former bandit associates stopped by their town and made red slaughter of every man from fifteen to fifty and even cleaved a few wenches through, some being his friends, he clenched his teeth and made to intervene immediately. Something held him back, fear, maybe. But that something told him to play the long game. And so it began.

It was three years. Three years of asking every roadside innkeeper, every traveler, following every sign of bandit activity and he picked them off one by one, developing and experimenting with new ways to lure in his prey. Clothes with poorer fabrics in a style of a pauper, clothes with richer fabrics, a chin made of putty, a hat tucked low, a woman’s robes and a lilt in the voice, he used different techniques to kill each man. When he finally came to the man who had made him feel less than such on that night, who made him feel like the filth could never be scrubbed out, he took his time.

Small cuts here and there. He didn’t even know teeth cracked and shattered when a hot iron was pressed against them. It’s a very slow process in hammering nails through scalp and bone and he learned just how fragile men can be that one tiny piece of steel could make them lose something that made them human. Make them laugh one moment, cry the next or just go blank and start drooling. Flesh and blood, that’s all men are. Give Finnen a quiet moment, a dark room, bedchambers and he’ll show you. You won’t even remember your trespass, but he will.

The rumors of his deeds in the years following reached the ears of important men in High Rock and Skyrim and he managed to earn himself a pretty penny for spilling men’s blood. Flipping form one lord to another, serving one man then the next. High Rock had become a very opportunity-filled place after the Empire started to crumble into dust. Emperors come and go, so do Empires. He would let them kill each other, even help some kill others, as long as he had coin and a bed to sleep in.

It wasn’t long until the Penitus Oculatus heard of him, and it was one part lawkeeping and one part job offering they gave him. An ultimatum: they kill him or he earns their coin. He obviously chose the latter. It would be a few months of service before Lyvander Sidonis became the scourge no one expected. The Mede Emperor declared it fit for Lyvander to die by cloak and dagger but every assassin sent after him was either seen again at his side or seen again as a corpse. Finnen liked neither of those and so he deserted his duties as the time for him to try his hand at killing Lyvander came. The Penitus Oculatus found him again, unsurprisingly, and offered another ultimatum: We will kill you or you will do your duty to the Empire.

He chose the latter.

He now finds himself attached to a group named Dragon’s Eye, forcefully signed on by order of the Penitus Oculatus, something he is still sore about.
