It's exam season, boys and girls, so postage should be up over the weekend. If you don't hear from me by Monday, honour my memory.

Well then. I'm exceedingly British, rather sarcastic and I love a good shipfest in my RPs. Also male. Funny, that. Fair warning, I will treat you like an adult. That means I will mock you, point out your mistakes and most likely /cringe when you do something really autistic. Being an adult means accepting criticism and working to improve yourself, not ignoring it. And if I need calling out on my bullshit, just do it. Please. Nothing is worse than not realising that you've said or done something stupid til a week after the fact.

I currently live in Japan, so my posting hours are... weird. Please bear with me.

Everyone except Hector, Ashton, Duncan and Fresno. Big group, so feel free to split up if you feel like it. If you can think of other things for them to do while they're there, like freeing prisoners or subtly sabotaging things, go for it. Be creative!
Everyone alright on who's going with who? We'll introduce Minerva via Duncan's team, so if Aerandir or Silver Fox want to post for that, go ahead after Suku's intro is up.
Suku, I'll move your CS tomorrow, once my internet stops fucking about.
Sergeant Harald, Gallian Militia

The squad returned in dribs and drabs, much to Harald's annoyance. He wasn't sure whether it was disrepect for his rank or something more harmless, like fatigue from last night's battle, but the squad just wasn't functioning quite right today. He took a deep drag of his cigarette while keeping an eye on the formerly wounded. They seemed especially odd, but that was no surprise. If only they could spend a day in rest... But time was against them and the rest of the Regiment counting on them to clear the way. Harald flicked the dogend away wearily and climbed up into the driver's seat. Before he could start up the engine, he felt a tap on the shoulder. 'What, Jatmoore?' He cast an eye back toward the girl, seated in the back of the APC. She did look rough, but that might have just been yesterday's after-effects. '... Hopefully it won't come to that. Since we have a few more bodies now, I might tell the injured to sit this next one out. Depends on what we find.' He appreciated Hunt's candour, if not his life-saving techniques. 'Can you take the MG, mate? And get one of the new guys watching the back.'

Before Hunt could reply, the passenger side door was wrenched open and a soaked Carn stuffed himself inside. Suppressing an irrtated sigh, Harald answered with a curt nod and called out the window. 'Load up, kids. Rotate sentries and gunners ever three hours. If memory serves, we're about a day's drive from the next strongpoint. If you need a piss break, just yell.' Once everyone was aboard and all kit stowed, he fired up the ragnoline engine. He couldn't say that he liked the way these Imp machines handled, but for fuel efficiency there were none better. Nevertheless, the Imperials had set up a number of refuelling checkpoints around Vasel in order to expand their supply lines and it was one of these depots that the team was headed to next. He gunned the engine and set off.

After twelve hours hard driving, Harald was reaching the limit of his endurance. Once he got to the point that his eyelids were drooping by themselves, he slowed and parked up at the edge of a field, partially hidden by a line of hedgerows. Getting out to stretch his legs, Harald nevertheless kept his rifle handy. This was enemy territory and he'd be surprised if they didn't run into trouble before reaching their destination. Opening the APC's rear hatch, he sat down on the step while rolling a cigarette. Most of the squad was awake, it seemed. 'Just a quick pit stop. If anyone needs to take a shit, help yourself to a bush.' He smiled faintly, amused by the thought of some of the more dainty squad members doing just that. 'Anyone know Vasel well? Apparently there's a ring of old coach houses around the city, part of the old horse and cart transport system. Nowadays they're just inns, but they still sit on the main routes into the city. Apparently. Never been there myself.' Harald couldn't help but feel somewhat flippant about the whole situation. The orders he had been given were so vague, so open to interpretation, that he could have had a picnic somewhere between Breda and Vasel and probably qualified as doing the job. 'Technically, the one we're going to is where the city actually begins. According to the map anyway. It's on a steep hill that overlooks the city, right on the ridge before the Vasel floodplain. If all goes well, we'll be able to sit back and watch from the roof as the rest of the Regiment hits Vasel.'
Noone wants a Willy Vareb (lol), but Raven is correct. I tend to have Harald talk to the squad at large because he's a plot facilitator. The rest if the squad generally needs to talk among itself more.
In this segment, I would like to see everyone post and talk before we move on. Assuming my internet allows me to actually post...
Accepted. Post her to the CHAR tab and I'll add her to the roster.
'Don't push yourself unless it's absolutely necessary; we can't afford any mishaps this time around.' Looking at Rachel's condition, he was impressed that she could still function. Duncan didn't even want to think about his own injuries. What if something had... popped..? Nope, not going there. He focussed furiously on Rachel's idea, if only to distract himself from that thought. 'Go for it. Hopefully we'll be able to do things all stealthy-like, but the best laid plans...' No-one looked at 100%, as one might expect. If the situation did go south, then they would be at a massive disadvantage... While Duncan himself was comfortable with any firearm he could get his hands on, the others were all specialists. Without their own weapons and equipment, a head-on fight could be disastrous. One of the soldiers cleared her throat nervously and spoke up. 'Um... I think I know where they're keeping your stuff. Main armoury, upstairs. Next door to where they're keeping your friend.' Now that caught Duncan's attention. She must be referring to another SeeD, or someone else captured in Deling City. That left only three possibilities. 'Friend? What do they look like? Male, female? Age?' The girl faltered and tried to stutter a reply, leaving her squad leader to answer in her stead. 'Dunno. We're not allowed past the armoury. But I've seen a girl there, keeps going in with Mako. You hear can some pretty fucked up stuff. We assumed they had your leader up there, but uh...' His gaze switched awkwardly between Duncan and the others. '... maybe they got the wrong guy?'

While Duncan was mulling over this disturbing revelation, Jericho came up with a good idea. 'Yeah... Yeah, that works. If the only way to shut down the field is upstairs...'. He shot Fresno a questioning look, got a firm nod. '... then I'll take two with me to try sneaking in. Jericho'll take the others and secure our drives. From there, we'll try to meet up in the control room. Hopefully we'll have it secure by then but... don't count on it.' His original plan had been to hit the armoury first, maybe steal some weapons, but the layout of the place had put paid to that. He was reasonably confident of their ability to remain unseen, at least for a time, but eventually they would have to take the gloves off. Preferably after the AM field was dropped and everyone armed. 'Alright then, decision made. Hector and, uh... you, new girl. Don't know your name. With me.' Come to think of it, she hadn't said anything much. In that case he would rather have her close at hand, just in case. 'Jericho, keep 'em safe. Sergeant, you come with me too, the rest of your lads go with them.' To his credit, Fresno didn't argue. Most soldiers would baulk at the idea of a civilian ordering them around, but these were unique circumstances. 'Right then. Allons-y?'

Duncan led the way out of the cell block, his pitiful breadknife at the ready. Dinnerware though it may have been, it was solid enough. He might even be able to kill with it if he got the drop on his opponent. The main concourse of the prison was bizarre, a series of rings connected by stairways. All around the room, he could see other cell blocks arranged like the spokes of a wheel. It chilled him to imagine how many 'political prisoners' the former President had locked up here over the years... and how many the new regime had now. He didn't know what had happened in Galbadia after the assassination, but if the hints were anything to go by, it was nothing good. The four of them crept along, hugging close to the rim of the central pit. Duncan could see grey-uniformed wardens patrolling above, looking bored and annoying well-armed. One of those SMGs will do nicely. They paused under the first stairwell and he spoke in a controlled whisper. 'Right. Looks like at least three levels before we hit the roof. Sound about right?' Fresno gulped. 'Four, including the control room. Most of the guards are near the bottom, 'cuz that's where the real criminals are kept. But the Head Warden likes to keep a few men close by. Bastard.' They sat in silence for a few moments, watching the shadows of men walking above. 'So... new girl. Please give me a name, I can't keep calling you new girl all the time. Also, any ideas would be grand.'
Mentions work for me. Just bear with me if I forget, 'cause I will.
I'll wait for one more post before we move on.
Here, in the OOC first please.
Certainly. We're a bit limited in how me might introduce your character for the moment. PM me and we'll bounce some ideas around.
In other news, I will actually post tonight. Eventually.
Yes and no. I made drives up for the sake of plot, but it makes sense that there's and analog method too. It's just really really hard
